Chapter 1030
As Clark, Gable, and their goons encircled Luna and Helen, Luna was left stammering, “Uncle Clark? Uncle Gable? What…?”
Having heard the ladies’ exchange, Gable applauded Helen, even smiling. “Not bad! I’m surprised you can see that… I guess Gavin admired you for a reason. Hell, you might really become quite something if you were allowed to grow.”
“Uncle Gable…?” Luna muttered even as realization struck her.
It might have just been a suspicion earlier, but even Gable was basically admitting to it now that she, Luna, had been used like a tool.
And now that she had served her purpose, both her and Helen would be silenced.
Even as she glared at Clark and Gable in disbelief, she bellowed, “Why?! Why are you doing this?! W-Weren’t we’re in on this together?! How could you—”
“We’re in on this together? Says who?”
Clark shot her a glare of disdain, chuckling. “We’d be exposed if we really kept a dumbass like you around. Also, were you really actually hoping to be the next head of the Lane family? Hahaha… What even is this fantasy you’re in, girlie?”
His mockery left Luna falling to her knees with a loud thud as despair overwhelmed her.
She really thought for a moment that she could be the next head of the Lane family… and not only was her dream crushed, but it turned out that she had been used like a tool and might soon be gone forever.
“No… No, no, no! I don’t wanna die!” Luna suddenly screamed manically.
However, they were on a road heading straight to Laneville, far away from the city.
No one was coming no matter how loud she screamed.
“What a dumbass.” Gable snorted in disdain and slapped her across the face, leaving her stunned. “Shut up already, loudmouth!
Luna grabbed his leg right then, pleading, “No! No! Uncle Gable, you can’t kill me… I lured Helen out for you! I can still be useful, I…” Gable, however, was mercilessly.
He raised a gleaming machete and pressed it against her neck, sneering coolly, “I was going to do Helen first, and then you while you were too busy to notice… But I changed my mind because you’re so annoying.”
“No! Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me, Uncle Gable! Uncle Clark, Uncle Clark… I’m begging you!” Luna cried, turning back toward Clark as she pinned her hopes on him.
Clark simply grinned sinisterly. “Oh, girlie-it’s not like I want to do this, but it’s your fault for being so stupid. I mean, you just need to be slightly smart to see how fishy this whole thing is. And people always pay the price for being stupid, y’know.”
Clark’s mockery left Luna despairing, her tears gushing even as she stared at the gleaming machete pressed against her neck and closed her eyes. She just wanted to get one over Helen, but she had to die for it too!
She certainly regretted doing this at all!
However, before the machete reached Luna’s neck, Helen’s car door opened and the yawning man alighted. “What’s all that ruckus, Helen? Haven’t we arrived at Laneville yet… Oh, what’s all these people doing here?”
“What?!”
Everyone, including Clark and Gable, both turned towards the man in shock.
On the other hand, Helen simply leaned against her door, folding her arms before her chest as she flashed a vibrant smile at the confused men.
“Ran into some highwaymen blocking the road,” she said nonchalantly.
