The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 993

Chapter 993

At the same time, Ysabel was on the phone with Veronica’s mother, Tatiana, recounting the events of the accident from the previous night. “Don’t worry, we might not succeed on the first attempt, but we can always try again. I truly want your daughter to become my daughter-in-law! What happened yesterday was just a minor accident…”

Before she could finish her words, she heard the butler’s voice. “M-Mr White, why did you bring so many people in? What’s going on?”

Callum, in an indifferent tone, responded, “Get out of my way!”

Ysabel looked up, and her expression changed slightly when she saw her son walking in with a group of men. She then said to Tatiana, who was on the other end of the phone. “Mrs. Turner, I’m sorry, I have to go. Something has come up on my side. Let’s talk again soon.”

After ending the call, Ysabel looked at his son and asked, “Callum, why did you bring a group of men here?”, Callum walked to the couch and sat down before turning to the men behind him. “You guys wait outside first.”

“All right, Sir.” The men then went out, leaving Callum, Ysabel, and the butler in the living hall.

Ysabel gestured to the butler, who then also discreetly left the living room.

With an unreadable expression, Callum casually picked up a newspaper that Ysabel had left on the coffee table and began flipping through its pages.

Ysabel still had a habit of reading newspapers, even though she could read them online.

Contrary to Callum’s composed demeanor, Ysabel could not help but feel uneasy at that moment. The presence of her son and his entourage in the mansion signified that he sought an explanation from her regarding the incident from the previous day.

She found it increasingly challenging to comprehend Callum as he grew older. She could not pinpoint when her son had become so deep in thought that she could no longer discern what was going on in his mind.

“Callum, is there something you’d like to discuss with me privately, given that you’ve dismissed all the men?” Ysabel inquired.

“There’s something I’d like to discuss with you,” Callum responded casually. “I hope you can live abroad for a few years and then return.”

“Excuse me?” Ysabel suddenly stood up and stared at her son. “What did you say? Are you kicking me out of the country?”

“I’m not kicking you out. I’m kindly requesting,” Callum uttered with an icy tone.

Ysabel narrowed her exquisite eyes and said, “What if I don’t want to? I enjoy living here. I don’t want to go abroad.”

“If you refuse to leave the country, I’ll have no choice but to get my men to guard outside your mansion. I’ll only dismiss them when you’re ready to leave,” Callum responded.

Hearing that, Ysabel immediately reprimanded him. “Are you trying to lock me up in this mansion? Am I a prisoner?”

“Mother, it’s your choice how you wish to interpret it,” Callum replied.

Ysabel trembled with anger and extended her hand, pointing directly in his direction. “How dare you? Have you forgotten who gave birth to you and raised you? Without me, do you believe you could have grown up this well? I know you’re an adult now, but do you think it’s appropriate for you to treat your mother this way?”

“I’ve always known that I was just a pawn to you. I might have been a pawn back then, but it doesn’t mean I

still am now. If you continue to treat me as such, I’m afraid this is the action I’ll have to take,” replied Callum.

A trace of guilt flashed in Ysabel’s eyes. “W-What do you mean?”

“What do I mean? I thought you would have understood the moment I arrived here. Do you want me to spell it out for you?” Callum snorted with cold disdain. “I never imagined my biological mother would drug me. It appears you still regard me as the child who was once entirely dependent on you.”

Upon hearing that, Ysabel responded directly, “I did this for your benefit. What was wrong with the Turner family? The White family and the Turner family would have become the most prominent families in Loftbury once the marriage had occurred. What could Lillian offer you? She’s nothing but a joke! How could someone like her deserve to be the lady of the White family?”

Callum cast a cold glare at the woman before him. “It appears you’ve forgotten your own origins and where I came from. Others may address you as Mrs. White, but what gives you the right to think that Lillian doesn’t deserve that title?”

“You…” Ysabel’s face suddenly turned bloodshot. She raised her hand and slapped.Callum hard. “How dare you talk like that to your mother?”

Callum’s expression remained impassive even after being slapped across the face. “If I no longer consider you my mother, do you believe you could stand safely in front of me after drugging me?”

The indifference in Callum’s eyes sent a tingly sensation down Ysabel’s scalp. Suddenly, she realized that her son was no longer a mere pawn she could manipulate. She began to understand that if she ever pushed her son’s boundaries again, even though she was his mother, she might find herself at his mercy.

“You can leave the country once you’ve sorted out your thoughts!” Callum stood up and started to walk

away.

All of a sudden, Ysabel exclaimed, “You want me to go abroad not only because of drugging you. It’s all because of Lillian, isn’t it? You’re doing this to me because of what I did to Lillian, right?”

Callum stopped in his tracks for a moment before continuing to walk. Before long, he had completely disappeared from Ysabel’s view, leaving her alone to vent her anger by smashing things in the living room.

When Callum returned to the company, he found Lillian sitting in front of his office, engrossed in reading a pregnancy and newborn magazine.

“Callum!” Lillian smiled and waved at Callum.

Callum rubbed his forehead and walked toward his office without saying anything.. Lillian also spontaneously followed him into the office.

As soon as Callum entered the office, Lillian opened her mouth as if she wanted to speak, but the words seemed to catch in her throat. Callum raised an eyebrow slightly and asked, “Yes? Do you have something to tell me?”

“Well, what exactly did you mean by what you said when we were eating the cake today?” She looked at him with a mix of expectation and anxiety.

Callum raised an eyebrow. “I thought I was pretty clear. You tell me.”

“But I’m worried that I might have misinterpreted your words. I don’t want to disappoint you if I’ve

misunderstood them,” Lillian explained.
