The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 982

Chapter 982

It was like the elaborate scheme Callum had devised against the Tall family, every detail interconnected. When she found out about it later, a shiver ran down her spine.

She had never imagined that Callum, over these years, had set up such a plan, toppling the Tall family in one fell swoop. His thoughts had grown deeper over

the years.

Fortunately, he was her son. She had nothing to fear. She only needed to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor.

“Mom, if there’s nothing else, I’d like to rest early,” Callum said, raising his hand to massage his temples.

Seeing Callum’s tired expression, Ysabel nodded. “All right, you rest well. I’ll head back. In a few days, it’s your birthday. I’ve organized a special celebration for you and invited many prominent figures in the city. Remember to appear on time.” Callum had broken up with Madeline this year, and White Maple Group had swallowed half of the Tall family’s assets. No longer did she have to put on a fake smile for the Tall family. Now, she could truly hold her head high. She would announce Callum’s birthday celebration and, in the process, find a suitable daughter-in-law.

“I understand,” Callum replied indifferently.

After Ysabel left, Callum looked around the room’s cold atmosphere and couldn’t help but sneer. “Is this the goal I have once strived for?” he thought.

Even though he had obtained the White Maple Group and become the true master of the White family, it meant little to him.

He still felt like a drifting duckweed, lacking a sense of taking root.

In the ward, Stephen and Abigail asked Lillian what had happened, her emotions so stirred up that she experienced a threatened miscarriage.

Lillian suddenly realized her phone was missing.

“Right, Callum has it!” she thought. When he brought her to the hospital and the doctor examined her, a nurse handed her phone to him.

“It’s just… My phone had some issues. The photos in my gallery were deleted by the system, and I got upset, which led to abdominal pain,” Lillian explained helplessly.

“You silly child, it’s just a few pictures. Why make such a fuss that the hospital?” Stephen said.

“I’m sorry for worrying you. I’ll try to control my emotions better in the future,” Lillian said.

“All right, all right. In the future, don’t get too upset over trivial matters. Even if

there are difficulties, we will help you solve them,” Abigail said. Then, she

discussed with Stephen about taking turns to stay with Lillian overnight.

“You both go back to the inn and rest. There’s no need to stay here overnight. The doctor said I’m fine. I just need to stay in the hospital for a couple of days to ensure the child is safe,” Lillian reassured them.

“But you’re alone in the hospital. We’re worried,” Abigail said, especially considering it was a private ward. If something happened to Lillian alone in the room, no one might know.

Just then, two caregivers knocked on the door and entered the ward, indicating that they were arranged by Callum to take care of Lillian in the hospital.

Hearing this, Lillian told her parents, “See, you don’t need to worry. There are two caregivers here. You can go back to the inn and rest. Come visit me during the day. They will take care of me at night.”

Seeing the presence of the caregivers, Stephen and Abigail were finally persuaded by Lillian and left for the inn.

After Lillian freshened up, she lay down on the hospital bed and fell asleep.

After all, it had been a tiring day. She was exhausted and dozed off in a short while.

The two caregivers were assigned to the task. One stayed while the other left to rest, planning to return in the daylight for the shift change.

The night fell deep, and the ward was engulfed in profound silence.

As the clock struck midnight, a caregiver suddenly heard the creak of the door opening. She froze in place, her whole body tensing. Then, the door was pushed open, revealing a tall figure stepping inside.

“Excuse me, sir, may I ask…” the caregiver asked.

“Could you step out for a moment? I want to be alone with her,” Callum said. “But…” the caregiver hesitated.

“I am Callum. Now, you can rest assured,” he said.

The caregiver froze as she thought, “Callum? The person who has arranged for me to take care of this pregnant woman? Yes, I remember. The person who assigned me this job is from White Maple Group.”

The current head of White Maple Group was Callum. It was the first time she had seen him in person, though.

Without saying anything more, the caregiver quickly left the ward, gently closing the door behind her.

Callum lowered his head and looked at Lillian, who was sleeping peacefully. Moonlight streamed in through the window and illuminated her face, allowing him to clearly see her serene expression.

His restless heart seemed to calm down in her presence.

“Lillian, how much do you really love me? How much of what you said is true?” Callum murmured, but there was no one to answer him.

After a moment, he took her phone from his pocket and placed it on her bedside table. Then, he turned and left the ward.

When Lillian woke up the next day, she saw her phone on the bedside table and was surprised. She quickly asked the caregiver, “Did anyone come here last night?” As expected, she heard Callum’s name from the caregiver.

If only she hadn’t been so deeply asleep, she could have seen him. She regretted it a little. Lillian opened her phone and absentmindedly opened her photo gallery. She didn’t know if he had deleted anything else.

Nonetheless, the next moment, she was stunned.

The photos in her gallery hadn’t decreased; they had increased. All the pictures that had been deleted were back.

“Did he restore these photos for me?” Lillian thought, feeling a wave of joy in her heart.

“Callum has restored these photos. Does it mean he still has feelings for me? He doesn’t want me to be sad, so he restored the pictures, right?” she thought.

As soon as Stephen and Abigail entered the ward this morning, they saw their daughter holding her phone, smiling foolishly.

“Didn’t you say your phone was left with Callum?” Stephen asked.

“Callum brought it over yesterday,” Lillian said, her eyes filled with happiness.

“He came over last night?”

“Yes, but I was already asleep. When I’m discharged, I’ll go find him.” Lillian’s eyes lit up again as if she had gained hope for the future.

“You… Be careful not to end up in the hospital every time you want to see him,” Abigail warned.

“I know. Don’t worry, both of you. Callum and I have an agreement. It’s a month-long trial. He won’t refuse to meet me during this time. But if he still doesn’t want to be with me after a month, then I’ll return to Strico with both of you,” Lillian said.
