The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 981

Chapter 981

It was because it was their child.

After all, he still cared about this child.

When the car arrived at the best maternity hospital in Jacaster, Callum carried Lillian out of the car. In the hospital, doctors and nurses were already waiting. after receiving the notification.

Lillian was taken directly into the consulting room for a checkup, while Callum stood outside the consulting room, still holding the same phone that Lillian had been gripping tightly earlier.

He couldn’t believe how much those photos meant to her. She had spent the entire afternoon running around different phone repair shops just to retrieve those pictures.

“Are those her memories?” he thought.

Callum felt a complex mix of emotions.

Suddenly, the phone rang, displaying the word “Mom” on the screen. He knew it was a call from Lillian’s mother.

After a moment of hesitation, he still answered the call. “Mrs. Quinn, is that you? I’m Callum.”

On the other end of the phone, Abigail sounded surprised. “You… Why are you answering the phone? Where’s Lillian?”

“She is feeling unwell, so I brought her to the hospital. The doctor is examining her right now,” Callum said.

“What?” Abigail’s shocked voice came through the phone. She hurriedly asked Callum for the hospital’s address and quickly ended the call.

Callum put away the phone and leaned against the wall, staring at the device in his hand. He murmured to himself, “Lillian, what should I do with you?” “One month? Should I let her stay with me for this month, only to part ways afterward? But after spending a month with her, could I really let her go again? Or should I just accept it now, smoothly being with her, perhaps that was the best option. But does she truly love me? Or is it just because she heard the truth from Madeline, feeling guilty and wanting to give the child a complete family, that she came back to me? I-If she doesn’t love me that much, could I really walk the rest of my life with her? If she is only doing this for the child, to make up for her guilt…” he thought.

When Lillian’s examination results came out, both Stephen and Abigail also arrived at the hospital. Abigail anxiously approached the doctor, asking, “Doctor, how is my daughter?”

“The patient is emotionally distressed, showing signs of threatened miscarriage.

She had experienced this condition before, so it’s a critical situation.”

Abigail nodded repeatedly, and Stephen walked to Callum. “I know Lillian misunderstood you before, causing you distress. But no matter what, she is carrying your child now. Even if you don’t want to be with her again, please don’t provoke her.”

Callum remained silent, not uttering a word.

Stephen didn’t say more either. He entered the ward with Abigail to see Lillian, while Callum took out his phone and instructed his subordinate on the other end, “Take care of all the expenses for Lillian’s hospitalization, and find two attentive caregivers…

After dealing with some matters, Callum left the hospital.

“Lillian… What exactly should I do with her?” he thought.

When Callum returned to the White residence, he saw his mother, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, in the living room.

She wore elegant and luxurious clothes, adorned with precious jewelry, as if she wanted everyone to know that she was the mistress of the White family now.

To him, their relationship was neither good nor bad. They were more like partners than mother and son.

She gave him life and provided for his material needs, nurturing him with care. Even when the main family tried to frame him, she fiercely protected him.

One could say that she helped him secure his current position.

However, she only saw him as a tool to help her rise again in life.

As for how much affection she had for his father, he had no idea. She once chose to be the other woman for a wealthy life. Of course, her ambitions didn’t stop there. She went to great lengths to conceive him and then raised him

single-handedly.

When he was young, the most common thing she said to him was, “You are a child of the White family, just like the sons of the main family. You have the White family blood flowing in your veins. If you can’t inherit the White family in the future, both of us will be wiped out by the main family. If you don’t want to die, you can only climb up, climb up until your father lets you inherit the White family!”

Therefore, he had been climbing up all the time. He thought that was the greatest meaning of life.

It wasn’t until he met Lillian that he realized there could be another taste to life.

Perhaps, people were like this. The more they lacked, the more they wanted. He had always lived in the midst of intrigue, so he was attracted to Lillian’s straightforwardness. In front of her, he didn’t need to speculate about her intentions or thoughts.

It was that simple, yet it captivated him in an extraordinary way.

By the time he realized it, he found that he couldn’t do without her.

If only those things hadn’t happened back then, maybe he and Lillian would have been together by now.

“Mom, why are you here?” Callum said. “Haven’t you always disliked this manor?”

After all, it was the residence where the main family once lived. That was why his mother didn’t like it. She had bought another house elsewhere and rarely visited this one.

“I heard that Lillian went to your office today and stayed there the whole morning,” Ysabel White, Callum’s mother, said.

Callum’s eyes flickered briefly. It seemed that the people his mother arranged in the company were quite diligent in reporting the news.

“That’s true,” he replied.

“How could you let that woman stay in your office? Who knows what kind of gossip will spread? You should have the security guards stop her from entering the company again,” Ysabel said.

“Mom, this is between her and me. Please don’t interfere,” Callum refused his mother’s suggestion.

Ysabel looked displeased. “You’re not still thinking about being with her, are you? Don’t forget, when you came back from Strico, she was the one who didn’t want to be with you. And besides, what’s so special about a woman like her? In Jacaster, there are so many socialites interested in you-”

“That’s enough, Mom. I know my limits. Besides, I never said I wanted to be with her,” Callum interrupted his mother.

“If that’s the case, then it’s for the best,” Ysabel said, feeling increasingly unable to understand her son’s thoughts over the years.
