The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 955

Chapter 955

Despite her predicament, Rosalie’s grip on Jonathan’s wrist remained resolute. It was as if she feared that releasing him would mean he would vanish into the manor, never to be seen by her again.

Jonathan lowered his gaze. His eyes first fell upon her deformed hand that clung desperately to his wrist. His gaze then shifted to her reddened, choking face, and emotions flickered momentarily in his dark eyes.

“You don’t need to clutch me like this. Since I’ve chosen to meet you, it implies I’m willing to hear you out,” Jonathan said, his tone frosty and distant.

Rosalie’s choking fit finally subsided. She glanced up at Jonathan, and tears were welling up in her eyes due to the ordeal. “Shall we go inside and talk?”

However, her grip on his wrist remained unyielding.

He pursed his lips, averting his gaze, and headed back inside. She promptly followed him.

The security guard at the entrance let out a long sigh of relief as he watched the two individuals walk away. “They finally left!” he thought.

He mused inwardly, “But Mr. Youngblood’s demeanor toward Mrs. Youngblood just now was exceptionally chilly! What on earth transpired between them?” The security guard couldn’t help but speculate.

Rosalie trailed behind Jonathan, walking all the way to the pond within the manor. In the morning sunshine, the lotus blooms in the pond appeared even more graceful and elegant.

Upon reaching that spot, Rosalie’s face blanched.

She remembered that that was the very place where she had once knelt before him, desperately imploring him to let her go.

From that moment onward, they became strangers until the day she sought him out again when Lillian got hurt because of her.

“Why would he bring me here?” Rosalie wondered, and a sudden sense of unease gripped her heart.

“You wished to see me, and here I am. What do you intend to do now?” he said while staring at her coldly. He then withdrew his hand from her grip.

Rosalie bit her lip hard with her teeth and murmured, “I-I came to apologize. I’m here to beg for your forgiveness.”

Jonathan sneered softly, and his eyes were fixed on the lotus in the pond rather than Rosalie when he spoke. “I did mention -I will never forgive you.”

His words cut through her like a myriad of sharp needles, sending waves of pain surging through her entire being.

At that moment, he didn’t spare her a glance, making her feel as insignificant as air and as if she had ceased to exist in his

eyes.

Her hands, hanging limply by her side, clenched into tight fists.

She refused to let coldness and indifference be the only things left between them. Rosalie took a deep breath and abruptly strode toward Jonathan. Placing both of her hands on either side of his cheeks, she compelled his face between her palms, forcing him to meet her gaze.

“Jon, if you’re angry with me, scold me-even hit me if it helps. Or you can tell me what I need to do to earn your forgiveness. But don’t push me away and ignore me like this! We’re husband and wife. Are you contemplating a divorce?” Rosalie’s words burst out in a shout.

Jonathan’s eyes flickered, and his gaze grew even darker. “Is that what you want? To divorce me?”

Her heart raced violently at his words. She sensed that if she uttered “yes” at that moment, he might indeed proceed with the divorce.

“I won’t divorce you!” she declared firmly. “Unless one day you come to truly hate me or fall in love with someone else… Only then will I agree to divorce you!”

He sneered. “Is it because of the children?”

She felt suffocated. The mockery and self-deprecation in his eyes cut deep into her heart. “It’s not because of the children, but because I love you!” she exclaimed. What she desired was a lifetime with him, not a divorce!

“Do you love me?” The sarcasm in his eyes intensified. “Yes, you love me. Maybe you do love me, but it’s far too trivial. Trivial enough that your mentor’s wife holds more significance. The same goes for the trust you place in Calvin! You can betray me for that woman, even conceal the truth from me, and seek the aid of Calvin’s men. Why do you trust him so much?”

“Seeking assistance from Calvin’s associates was a choice I made after exploring every other avenue. If there had been others I could turn to for help at that time, I would have done so!” Rosalie explained earnestly. “I acknowledge the hurt I caused you regarding Mrs. Smuckler. My mind failed to conjure a better solution, so I resorted to such a foolish method. Just as you said, I believed you’d forgive me because I’m counting on your love for me.”

“So what? What’s your plan if I refuse to forgive you?” Jonathan said with indifference.

She remained silent. Meanwhile, his next words echoed in her ears. “If you love someone so deeply, your entire life is placed in their hands. I once told myself I’d give my life for you. When you were behind the wheel and chose to send that woman back to Lofbury despite knowing that you would hurt me, Rosalie, you have utterly shattered my life.”

At that moment, her betrayal inflicted a deeper pain than the animosity he harbored toward his mother.

It was only at that moment that he realized he cared more about how much importance she attributed to him than seeking vengeance against his mother.

He yearned to know whom she would choose between him and his mother.

However, the answer he ultimately received left him disheartened.

It turned out that love could inflict such profound agony upon someone!

Upon hearing those words from Jonathan’s lips, tears streamed down Rosalie’s cheeks uncontrollably.

“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…”

“Even if you apologize a million times over now, when the time comes for you to choose again, you won’t hesitate to pick someone else, will you?” Jonathan’s voice was cold. “So, there’s no need for your apologies. I believe we don’t need to meet anymore. You can continue to stay in the Youngblood residence, and I will find another place to live.”

Having spoken his piece, he gently pulled her hands away from his face and walked away.

In an instant, Rosalie’s hands felt empty, the warmth she had sensed from him fading away swiftly.

“Jon!” Rosalie suddenly called out to Jonathan. “You once told me that when your mother left your father, she chose to go even when your father knelt on the ground and begged her. If I do the same as your father, will you forgive me?”

Jonathan’s footsteps came to an abrupt halt, and he turned to look at her. His expression was one of sheer disbelief, and his eyes were wide with astonishment.
