She knew how hard it was for Lillian to let go of her feelings for the man in front of her. She was afraid that Callum would disappoint Lillian again and achieve nothing but provide her with false hope.
That would only hurt Lillian twice.
“Did she mention me to you?” Callum’s voice trembled.
Rosalie said, “She only told me you showed up before her. Lillian wants to start her new life. She doesn’t want to be trapped in the past forever. If you really love Lillian, stop disturbing her peace.”
Callum was silent. His hands hung by his sides, and his fingernails were dug deep into his palms, yet it was as if he couldn’t feel any pain.
