The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 712

Chapter 712

Warren stared at the screen of his laptop with shock, helplessness, and fear in his eyes, as well as an extreme sense of contradiction and regret.

He felt his blood seemingly pulse through his veins, carrying with it a pain that spread throughout his entire body.

There were only two audio clips and no other evidence for now.

Nevertheless, he already knew the answer to the question of who actually saved him.

‘Why… Why did I only hear the recorded call now? Why did I not doubt Irene when she appeared in front of me, telling me it was her who donated the bone marrow? I believed her just like that!

I didn’t even conduct some basic due diligence!’ Warren chastised himself inwardly.

In his mind, what Amelia had said to him in the car flashed through it again.

“If I told you that the person who saved you was not her, would you believe it?”

“But what did I say at that time?”

He said that she was slandering Irene and sowing discord in their relationship. He also said, “Isn’t Irene the one who saved me? There’s no way it’s you. I swore that I would protect her for the rest of my life, to love and be loyal to her, so you had better stop dreaming!”

He even dragged her to the Fletcher residence and asked her to kneel and apologize to the Fletcher family.

Thinking of that caused Warren to raise his hand and slap himself in the face! Despite the forceful strike, his face seemed to feel no pain, but it was the pain in his heart that suffocated him.

“Haha… Haha…” He burst into laughter, and tears gushed out of his bloodshot

eyes.

Warren thought with regret, ‘What have I done?

Why did I not believe her? When she finally told me that Irene was not the one who saved me in the car back then, it was her final act of desperation.

But I ended up crushing the last hope she had.

If only I had a little faith in her, she wouldn’t have lost her dignity and suffered such humiliation in front of the Fletcher family.

I even personally ordered for her to be disgraced!’

“Haha… Haha…” Warren’s laughter sounded even more miserable. His hands slapped his cheeks repeatedly as if that was the only way to vent out his pain..

When she laughed like that in front of him once, all he felt was disgust, as he didn’t understand why she laughed like a mad woman.

It wasn’t until now that he realized that the laughter was triggered by the overwhelming pain in the heart.

When Amelia woke up, Aiden and Matilda were by her side.

“Mom, Aiden, why are you…” Amelia was stunned for a moment and then realized that instead of being at home, she was in an unfamiliar room. “Where am I?”

“This is a hospital ward that Rosalie has arranged for you. She stayed by your side all this while until I asked her to go back early to get some rest since she’s pregnant.”

“Rosalie…” Amelia recalled that at the peak of her humiliation, Rosalie had barged into Irene’s ward and saved her.

If it wasn’t for Rosalie, she would have suffered a lot more.

“But why did she rush in so coincidentally?”

When Amelia was confused, Matilda said, “It was Aiden who called Rosalie. After Warren’s subordinates brought Aiden back this morning, Aiden kept crying and asked for my phone, saying that he wanted to call Rosalie.”

Upon hearing that, Amelia looked at her worried son.

His worried expression despite being a 4-year-old child made Amelia feel sad. “Aiden, Mommy is fine. Look! don’t I look okay now?” Amelia said.

“I’m sorry.” Aiden lowered his head unhappily. “I didn’t protect you well!” If he was an adult, he could protect his mother from being taken away just like that.

He hoped that he could grow up quickly and protect his mother from being bullied.

“Why did Daddy bully Mommy? Why didn’t Daddy believe that Mommy is a good person?”

“You have already protected me today, by calling Rosalie and asking her to come for me. You’ve done well,” Amelia said.

However, Amelia’s praise didn’t make Aiden happy. He put on a solemn look and said, “Mommy, I don’t want Daddy anymore. All I need is you! I won’t think of or miss Daddy anymore, and I want to grow up quickly. After growing up, I can protect you properly!”

but…

Amelia’s eyes turned red. If she could, she would like to see him grow up, “Okay, Aiden, I’ll wait for you to grow up so that you can protect me.” Not long after, Aiden began to rub his eyes. Obviously, he was sleepy, but he refused to sleep on the bed next to Amelia’s. Instead, he insisted on sleeping with her.

Only after he snuggled up to Amelia and grabbed the hem of her hospital gown with his two small hands did he fall asleep.

Matilda asked, “What did Warren take you away for today? I asked Rosalie about it, but she didn’t say.”

Amelia figured that Rosalie probably didn’t know how to explain it to her and Aiden.

After all, the truth would only make them sadder.

“It’s all in the past.” Amelia said faintly, “It’s just that… Mom, I may not be able to trust Warren with Aiden anymore. Initially, I thought he should have a father-son relationship with Aiden, but now…”

The words Warren said in front of Aiden only scared her. She was afraid that if Irene wanted to get rid of Aiden in the future, Warren would not protect him at all.

“Then let’s hide Aiden from Warren. I might be an old woman, but I will raise him even if I have to beg for food,” Matilda declared.

Warren taking Amelia away and causing her to end up in a hospital only served to intensify Matilda’s hatred for him.

Even though her husband had betrayed the York family back then, Amelia had done nothing of that sort.

“Let me think of how to settle Aiden down.” Amelia said with a sigh, “Mom, I’m really sorry for making you worry about me. You should be enjoying yourself in your old age.”

Matilda cried. “Don’t say such things. I just want you to take one day at a time and live happily. Going forward, we’ll be happy together. As for Warren, he no longer has anything to do with us.”
