The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 676

Chapter 676

Irene was trembling with anger and thundered, “Amelia, very well! I’ll make sure you pay the price for it!”

As she spoke, she made a phone call. After a while, several gangsters arrived and began chasing customers at Amelia’s food cart away, causing trouble, and overturning the tables. Irene, conversely, sat on one side, watching the mess unfold with a smile.

The only table those gangsters did not disturb was where Irene was seated. Clearly, they were her accomplices.

One of the gangsters rushed over to Amelia and started throwing punches and kicks at her. As much as she desperately put up a resistance, she still could overpower him.

Within a few minutes, Amelia fell to the ground, defeated.

The gangster kicked Amelia as he cursed, “You must be blind. You can’t just mess with anyone! This is a lesson for you today. You better watch out next time!”

Amelia clenched her teeth tightly. Even at a time like this, she refused to beg for mercy. To her, that felt like her last vestige of dignity.

At this moment, the pressure applied to her body suddenly vanished. Then, she heard the gangsters’ cries of agony and Irene’s burst of exclamations.

“What’s going on?” Amelia thought to herself.

Amelia was stunned, but before long, she heard a familiar voice. “Amelia, are you okay? Have you hurt anywhere?”

In front of Amelia, Rosalie appeared and reached out to help the former

“Why are you…”

“I came to see you,” explained Rosalie. She was here to persuade Amelia about custody but did not expect that she would run into this situation. By this time, Rosalie’s female bodyguard, Renee, had already knocked those gangsters down. She also seized Irene, who tried to flee the scene. “Let go of me. How says you can grab me like this? I can sue you for that!” Irene yelled, but she couldn’t break free at all.

“Great. I’ll sue you, too.” Rosalie took out her phone and called the police.

12:32

“Rosalie! There’s no need to call the police.” Amelia hesitated for a moment, seemingly not intending to make things worse.

Rosalie said, “Amelia, if you don’t call the police this time, Irene will only be more fearless next time. The law is all about evidence. Even if Irene wants to sue you in the future, the examination report will be evidence that you got beaten up. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.”

Hearing that, Amelia said nothing more.

When the police arrived, they took everyone back to the police station to record a statement.

At the police station, Irene refused to admit that she knew those gangsters and instead wanted to sue Amelia for slapping her. Having automatically become Amelia’s representative lawyer, Rosalie stated that Irene was the one who had slandered Aiden first and that those gangsters were her accomplices and acting under her orders.

As such, the police could only record their statement first and then detain those gangsters.

When Jonathan received Rosalie’s call informing him that they were at the police station to record a statement and would return late, he questioned which police station it was and drove over immediately. However, when he got out of his car and walked toward the entrance of the police station, he bumped into Warren, who had also rushed over as he did.

Exchanging glances, they were both stunned. They obviously didn’t expect to run into each other at this place.

Jonathan was the first who came to his senses and, as if realizing something, said, “Why? Are you here to pick your fiancée up, Mr. York?” “What about you, Mr. Youngblood? Are you also here to pick someone up?” Warren answered with a question instead.

“I’m here to pick up my wife and her friend,” Jonathan replied faintly. Warren frowned. Irene didn’t tell him much on the phone earlier. All that she said was that she ran into some trouble and was at the police station. As her voice sounded somewhat choked up, he hurried over without probing further.

After hearing Jonathan’s words, Warren felt his heart skip a beat. The image of Amelia’s face instantly surfaced in his mind.

“Could it be that… Amelia is also at the police station?” he wondered.

12:32

Just as Warren was about to head inside, Jonathan suddenly uttered, “I heard that Amelia voluntarily gave you the custody, Mr. York. Aren’t you curious about the reason?”

Recalling Amelia saying things along the lines of how she wanted to start afresh, marry another man, and build a family, Warren felt his heart sore. “I didn’t know you like gossip too, Mr. Youngblood.”

Jonathan lifted his lips into a half-smile. “Your testimony back then sent Amelia to prison. I hope you won’t regret it in the future, Mr. York.” After saying that, he lifted his footsteps and walked inside first.

He had never been interested in other people’s affairs, but seeing Warren and Amelia’s situation, he was reminded of Rosalie and himself.

The only difference was that Amelia’s imprisonment was the result of Warren’s maneuver, while Rosalie’s imprisonment was the result of Jonathan being a cold bystander.

Warren frowned. “Regret? Why would I regret it? Amelia was imprisoned because she was guilty and deserved to be punished. All she got was three and a half years imprisonment for taking one’s life; that’s too merciful to her!” he thought.

Strangely, though, he felt an inexplicable ache in his heart.

As Warren entered, he spotted Amelia sitting on a chair, her hair slightly messy and her face bruised and swollen. Her slender body made her old, taupe-colored blouse look rather desolated.

“Why is she here? What the hell happened?” mused Warren.

At the same time, Irene threw herself into his arms while bawling her eyes out. “Warren… You’re finally here!”

Only then did Warren come back to his senses and lowered his head to look at Irene in his arms. “What’s wrong? You didn’t make it clear on the phone.”

Irene looked up and deliberately showed Warren the side of the cheek where she got slapped. “I merely went to the food cart today and told Amelia I’ll forgive and forget what happened before and raise Aiden well and treat him like my own in the future. But she slapped me instead!”

Irene’s eyes were brimming with tears as she spoke, acting as if she was very pitiful.

Rosalie coldly interrupted, “Ms. Fletcher, why did you not say how you got a few gangsters to wreck the food cart and even whack Ms. Haab up?”

12:32

Warren’s pupils contracted abruptly, and his face darkened drastically.

Irene hastily retorted, “I… I don’t even know those people. Don’t falsely accuse me! Maybe Amelia offended those ruffians herself, and that’s why they’re here to cause trouble!”

“We’ll find out the truth after some investigations. I’ll bring Amelia to the hospital for an injury examination. Irene, if you’re involved in this

incident, you can look forward to receiving an indictment,” Rosalie said directly.
