The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 606

Chapter 606

As long as she agreed, he would do his best to give her the ending she wanted.

However, what disappointed him was her response. “Calvin, you saved my life. As long as what you ask of me doesn’t conflict with my principles, I will comply willingly. But I can’t agree to your request regarding this matter.”

He suddenly scoffed. “So are you saying that this goes against your principles? Rosalie, is this man so important to you?”

Rosalie remained silent. Instead of asserting that Lucas was important to her, it would be more accurate to say that Lucas found himself in his current predicament because of her. Moreover, Lucas reminded her of her past self, who had also been unjustly accused of a crime despite her innocence. In Rosalie’s eyes, saving him was akin to saving herself.

But her silence made Calvin’s face turn darker.

Fiona hurriedly walked to Calvin’s side and gently grasped his arm. She said, “Calvin, don’t be upset. Rosalie must have cared deeply about Lucas, and it has clouded her judgment regarding his innocence. In reality, Lucas is a man full of deceit. If I hadn’t been fortunate enough for someone to pass by and startle him so that I could escape from the car, he would have carried out his sinister act, and I would have…”

As Fiona said that, she burst into tears again.

Seeing Fiona putting on an act at this moment, Rosalie felt a lump in her throat. “Do you believe her?” She looked at Calvin and said.

“Why shouldn’t I believe her? If you have faith in Lucas because he was your former colleague, I have faith in Fiona because she saved my life when I was a child. Don’t you think my reason is more valid than yours?” Calvin cast a brief glance at Fiona before assuring her, “Fiona, please don’t cry. I will assist you in seeking justice in this case.”

“Thank you, Calvin. Thank you for trusting me!” Fiona choked.

Observing the unfolding scene, Rosalie suddenly felt a sense of humiliation. In the past, Fiona had taken her place and identity using the secret she had been hiding. And now, it had become the sharpest weapon wielded against her.

She lifted her gaze to meet Calvin’s. Then, she took a deep breath and spoke with a resolve in her voice. “If I were to tell you that the person who saved you when you were a child was me, would you believe it?”

Calvin’s pupils suddenly contracted, and he looked at Rosalie in shock. “What did you say?”

“I said… It was me who saved you when you were a child!” Rosalie repeated. “The person you met in the forest was me, not Fiona. In that case, do you still believe what she said?”

Fiona’s expression shifted noticeably. Clearly, Rosalie’s sudden revelation had caught her off guard. But then, she didn’t believe Rosalie could change anything. She hoped Rosalie wasn’t holding the belief that Calvin would believe her claim after she said those words.

Fiona quickly showed a look of disbelief. “Rosalie, how can you say that? Even if you are eager to save Lucas, you can’t slander me like this! I’m your cousin. Even though we have had our disagreements all this while, we’re families. I can’t believe you made up such lies for the sake of a so-called colleague!”

“You know deep down whether I’m lying or not.” Rosalie brushed off Fiona’s theatrics and focused her gaze on Calvin. “Do you believe me?”

The initial shock in Calvin’s eyes gradually subsided. His long eyelashes quivered slightly before lowering slowly. “Are you asking me to believe that you were the little girl who saved me when I was a child?”

“Yes,” Rosalie replied. Even though she understood that her revelation was quite abrupt, she was willing to take a chance, betting on his trust in her.

“Do you recall the day we met at the top of the cliff on the final day of mourning for your granny? I asked you if you were the girl who rescued me, but what was your response?” Calvin’s voice held a grim tone,

Rosalie felt bitter. Back then, she had wanted to provide Jonathan with a sense of security, so even after her memory had been restored, she had continued to deny the fact that she had saved him as a child.

“Iremember,” she said. “At that time, I denied it, but…”

“After that, I asked you multiple times if you were the girl!” Calvin’s voice carried a hint of a sarcastic smile. His eyes slowly Hifted, filled with mockery. “But every time, you firmly denied it. Rosalie, and now you want me to believe that you were, in

fact, that girl. Don’t you find that absurd?”

Rosalie’s body trembled suddenly. His words and the look in his eyes felt like a harsh slap, leaving a stinging sensation on her face.

She was consumed by bitterness. She believed she deserved it. She had persistently denied her identity back then, but now she was asking him to believe her words.

“I understand that what I’m saying now might sound ridiculous, but Cal…” She used the nickname he had told her back then. “I truly was the little girl you met when you were a child. I can explain why I kept denying it…”

“Explain?” Calvin responded with a self-deprecating tone. “Rosalie, I love you, but I don’t want to hear such a lie from you for the sake of another man. If you are truly the little girl I’ve been searching for, why did you keep denying it every time I asked you? Did you feel ashamed of having this connection with me?”

“A lie?” Rosalie looked at the man in front of her blankly. He had once risked his life to save her, walked to her covered in blood, and asked if she was hurt. But now, he didn’t want to believe her at all. “Do you really think I lied?”

The look in her eyes made Calvin’s heart ache in a way that was indescribable. She was the one he wanted to take good care of, but the thought of her defending Lucas and trusting him brought up that surge of jealousy again.

He tried his best to ignore the pain in his heart. “So, what’s the explanation? If it’s true, you had plenty of chances to tell me this before. But why now, when Lucas is involved in this case? Is this how you want to help him? Creating such a lie for his sake!”

“Rosalie, this is too much!” Fiona added, her voice filled with grievance. “Even if you want to help Lucas win the case, you can’t say such things. Did you ever consider how this would make Calvin see me if you took my place and pretended to be his childhood savior? He’ll only think I’m a liar! What will happen to me? Did you ever think about that?”
