Chapter 563
“I might try and see what happens.” Calvin didn’t back down.
Both men were very influential in Strico and their existence was untouchable. And yet, they were confronting each other at this place.
“If Rosalie doesn’t want to stay here today, I will take her away no matter what!” Calvin yelled.
“I’ll break another hand of yours then,” Jonathan replied coldly. He directly attacked Calvin in an instant.
Calvin was mentally prepared for this. He managed to dodge the attack by turning sideways. Then, the two men started to fight with each other. Nevertheless, Calvin was at a disadvantage because his right hand was injured. He couldn’t move freely.
Jonathan managed to suppress Calvin. He was grabbing his uninjured left hand and was about to break it. Upon seeing this, Rosalie rushed forward and held Jonathan’s hand tightly. “No! Don’t hurt Calvin anymore!”
Jonathan’s expression darkened instantly. “What if I really break his hand?”
“Does it mean nothing at all to you to break a person’s hand?” Rosalie asked. Back then, Yvette and Zachary also mentioned lightly about breaking her hand.
She had to pay a huge price just because of something they had said lightly.
“Are you trying to protect him?” Jonathan snapped.
“Yes,” Rosalie responded with absolute affirmation. Calvin’s right hand had been broken because of her, and she didn’t want his left hand to encounter the same fate.
She didn’t want to owe Calvin more than she had already!
Jonathan stared at Rosalie with a deadly look in his eyes. “Do you care so much about him?”
Rosalie was silent. It seemed wrong if she said that she didn’t care about him at all. After all, he was Calvin. The companion who had struggled with her when they were young. He was also a friend whom she had promised to meet again someday!
However, in the end, Rosalie broke her promise and didn’t reunite with Calvin. She even created an illusion for him!
Besides, when she met Calvin on the day she visited Wilma’s grave, he saved her life again by the cliff so that she wouldn’t fall.
“Unfortunately, no matter how much you care about him, you can’t protect him today!” Jonathan uttered harshly. He directly pulled away Rosalie’s hand crudely and suppressed Calvin to the ground.
Jonathan stepped on Calvin’s injured right hand with one foot and pinned Calvin’s left hand.
As his injured hand was stepped, Calvin felt a sharp pain instantly.
Calvin’s face turned pale immediately with a layer of sweat on his forehead. But even so, he still smiled at Rosalie. “It doesn’t matter. It’s just another hand that is broken. Don’t worry, I told you before that I will definitely get you out today! If I’m not out of here in the next half an hour, someone will come here to conduct a search.”
It seems as though Calvin had a plan of his own as Jonathan did!
Rosalie looked at Calvin who was in pain and thought of the little boy who had been with her all day long. She told him back then. “I’ll come looking for you from now on. I will protect you next time!”
“Wait for me. I’ll come to you!”
“I will keep my promise. You can’t forget about it, okay?”
The tender voice was echoing in her ears.
However, she eventually forgot about her promise. She didn’t recognize him in the end.
Rosalie knelt down directly to Jonathan with a loud thump. Both men were astonished to see her kneel.
“You…” Jonathan’s eyes were full of disbelief. “What are you doing? Are you kneeling for Calvin? Even if you kneel, I won’t stop!”
“It’s none of Calvin’s business!” Rosalie took a deep breath and stated calmly. When she knelt down on both knees, suddenly her initial panic and hesitation were fading away gradually. “The thing between you and me has nothing to do with other people. Even if you say that you still love me, I can’t handle your love at all. So Jonathan, just let me go.”
“Let you… go?” Jonathan’s body trembled unnoticeably. His face darkened abruptly.
At this moment, he even would rather she was begging him to let Calvin go than asking him to let her go!
“Do you know what you’re talking about?” Jonathan murmured. He loosened his grip on Calvin and turned to look at her condescendingly.
“I know,” Rosalie replied. The simple words made Jonathan feel that someone was holding a gun and shot him directly in the
heart.
He had been willing to give her everything he owned, and yet she asked him to let her go!
“Letting go. Has our relationship always been nothing but left with the decision to let it go and not let it go?” Jonathan wondered.
“Rosalie, what exactly do I mean to you?” asked Jonathan, his voice hoarse as if he was roaring out of his throat. It was so powerful and full of hatred!
“How could she say the words let go so lightly? How could she kneel in front of me so easily?” he questioned Rosalie internally.
Rosalie raised her head and looked at him calmly. “It was a mistake between us from the very beginning. Maybe you shouldn’t have saved me at that time, nor should I have taken you back to my rental house and asked you to call me Rosie. Jonathan, we never belong in the same world. I can’t give you the love you want, nor can you give me the trust I want.”
Her voice was like a huge rock, smashing into his heart brutally. It hurt so much!
After a long time, Jonathan finally opened his mouth. “You begged me to let go of you. This means that from now on, we have nothing to do with each other anymore. Do you still want me to let you go even if we end up like this?”
Rosalie bit her lips and nodded slightly. “Yes. I beg you to spare me.” This relationship was too exhausting for her. She didn’t want to get entangled with him anymore!
Since she realized that they couldn’t give each other what they wanted, letting go of each other was the best option. Jonathan’s expression gradually disappeared. The hoarseness of his voice just now seemed to have become a kind of desolation. He stared at her without blinking.
Rosalie, who was in front of him right now, had long hair, loosely tied with a hair tie. Her delicate face had no makeup on and her eyes were so calm.
Such a face was just considered a bit better than the average look. He had seen many more beautiful women than her. Nevertheless, he was only captivated by her and loved her dearly!
