Chapter 555
“Does it hurt?” Rosalie asked as her hand reached for the back of Jonathan’s head. She heard a loud sound and thought it was probably because he knocked his head against the floor.
She wanted to confirm the back of Jonathan’s head and forgot about their current situation. She was on top of him, and his upper body was naked.
Rosalie was lying on his body. Her hand tried to reach for the back of his head, so their bodies fit more closely together.
Jonathan grabbed her wrist as his hoarse voice rang in her ear. “If I say it hurts, will you feel sorry for me and care for me?”
She stiffened slightly and lowered her head. Only then did she notice how close they were to each other, and her lips almost touched his cheeks.
Rosalie gazed at Jonathan. “If you’re really in pain, you should contact someone and go to the hospital for a thorough examination instead of enduring the fever, Jonathan, everyone only lives their life once!”
He suddenly chuckled. “So you don’t want me to die, do you?”
His face, which reddened because of the fever, was set against his smile. He looked so gorgeous yet fragile that she could not look away at all.
His smile seemed to prick her heart.
Finally, Jonathan called Carlos to tell him about the fever and asked him to bring a thermometer and antipyretics.
However, Carlos brought a doctor over to be safe.
The doctor examined Jonathan and prescribed him two kinds of medicine. There would be no problem if the fever went away in two days, but if not, Jonathan would have to go to the hospital for a more thorough examination.
Jonathan frowned slightly, apparently not wanting to go to the hospital.
“Alright, give me the medicine. You can leave,” Jonathan said.
Carlos glanced at Jonathan and then Rosalie before saying sheepishly, “Ms. Leighton, please look after Mr. Youngblood”
After saying that, Carlos hurriedly left with the doctor before Rosalie could react.
Rosalie was speechless. In the blink of an eye, there were only Jonathan and her in the huge manor.
Rosalie read the instructions for the two kinds of medicine given by the doctor. Then, she prepared the medicine according
to Jonathan’s dosage, poured a glass of water, and handed them to Jonathan. “Take the medicine first.”
He obediently took the medicine and water but did not consume them immediately. Instead, he lowered his head and looked at the pills in his hand in a daze.
“Are you really… scared of taking medicine?” she asked hesitantly.
He was silent. Just when she thought he would not answer, his voice suddenly rang.
“I don’t like taking medicine. When I first came to the Youngblood family, a housekeeper responsible for taking care of me secretly changed my daily vitamin tablets into sleeping pills. Because of that, I would sleep well at night. She did not have to worry about me getting up at night and needing her to take care of me. She could even sneak out and date her boyfriend.”
Rosalie paused. Jonathan shouldn’t have been very old when he had just gotten back to the Youngblood family. He should’ve only been around six or seven years old. If the vitamin tablets for children were replaced by sleeping pills, it would have a great impact on the children after consuming them for a long time!
Even though she knew that it probably did not impact him much, or else he would not have shown up before her intact, she still could not help asking, “What happened later? How did you discover it?”
“I curiously took a few more tablets once and slept for three days. I even had my stomach pumped in the hospital before finding out that the housekeeper had changed my vitamins,” Jonathan said as he looked up at her with self-depreciation.
“You know what? That housekeeper was the nicest to me when I first arrived at the Youngblood residence. She would show concern for me every day. She pretended to care for me and, with a gentle smile, watched me take the sleeping pills she had switched every day.”
Rosalie was furious. “How could someone treat a child like that just to make life easier for themselves and go dating? Didn’t she think about the consequences of taking too much sleeping pills?”
In severe cases, it might even give children mental exhaustion.
Jonathan smiled faintly. “There are many people like that in this world. They can easily sacrifice others for some small advantages.”
“What happened to the housekeeper?” Rosalie asked.
“She was fired,” Jonathan answered indifferently.
Rosalie guessed that life would not be easy for the housekeeper even if she was only fired.
“So, did you hate taking medicine since then?”
“Yeah,” he replied faintly. Taking medicine would remind him of the pain of his stomach being pumped and the awful. experience of lying in a hospital bed without any strength.
Leonard even came to his ward and looked at him without any affection. The old man just told him that his vitamins had been changed.
“You were lucky this time. If you still trust others so easily in the future, you’ll only harm yourself. Even though you’re my grandson, I won’t help you. If you can’t even beware of danger, you’re not qualified to stay in the Youngblood family!”
It was at that time that Jonathan realized how indifferent his grandfather was to him. It was even possible that Leonard had known that Jonathan’s vitamins had been changed.
Jonathan was the heir of the Youngblood family to outsiders, but only he knew he was walking on thin ice.
“I don’t like taking medicine. Even if I take it, I’ll be very careful and prepare the medicine myself,” he said.
Rosalie said, “Well… Why don’t you…”
She wanted to take back the medicine she had prepared and let him open the disposable package of the medicine himself.
However, before she could finish speaking, Jonathan had already put the medicine she gave him in his mouth and swallowed it with water.
“You…” Rosalie looked at Jonathan in surprise.
His dark eyes met her surprised eyes. “I’ll take anything you give me.” Even if she gave him poison, he would drink it.
After taking the medicine, Jonathan fell asleep. Rosalie looked at his sleeping face and could not help but be a little distracted.
It was not the first time that he had taken the medicine she gave him, but she never had any special feelings until she found out why he hated taking medicine.
The fact that he just took the medicine she gave him despite his trauma of taking medicine had made her feel something else.
