The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 552

Chapter 552

Originally, she thought it was just a love story of a woman forgetting her old love and falling in love with another man. It was a story full of betrayal and romance.

Nevertheless, after hearing the end of this story, she felt something entirely different.

She thought, “The woman had fallen in love but also killed the one she loved. Was it because she couldn’t accept this love? Couldn’t accept that she had changed her heart and even loved a man who imprisoned her? What happened to this woman later, after leaving this manor? Did she live with the one she originally loved? Or did she live alone?”

Somehow, she wanted to know what would happen next.

Strangely enough, she was well past the age of curiosity, but now, she was curious about the woman mentioned by Jonathan.

She wondered if it was because she was also locked up in this manor.

Rosalie got out of bed and went to the window, drawing the curtains apart.

From her window, she could see the pond in the courtyard filled with lotus flowers. Even in the night, they looked exceptionally beautiful.

To her surprise, a figure was standing by the pond, seemingly gazing at the blooming lotus flowers.

The clear moonlight cast an aura of tranquility over Jonathan as if everything had fallen silent.

Rosalie checked the time. It was past one o’clock in the morning. She wondered why he was standing there.

She should have closed the curtains and stopped looking at him, but she just kept staring at him in a daze.

Suddenly as if sensing her gaze, he slowly turned his body and gazed at her.

In an instant, their eyes met.

In the moonlight, she could clearly see his face. The silvery moonlight softened his delicate features, making him appear less cold and sharp than during the day. He looked more serene.

His slightly tousled hair fell over his full forehead, framing his handsome face with its defined eyebrows, deep, beautiful eyes, straight nose, and slightly pursed lips. He looked like a sculpture, motionless, just standing there and gazing at her.

Rosalie felt her heart racing, making her anxious.

“Don’t look anymore. Don’t look at him anymore!”

She repeated this in her mind and then used all her strength to close the curtains and lay back down in bed, trying to calm herself.

The light was on, and Rosalie closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep.

She could not tell how much time had passed, but in a daze, she seemed to hear the sound of raindrops.

She thought, “Is it raining outside? Did I fall asleep just now?”

Rosalie sat up and checked the time. It was past three o’clock in the morning.

Somehow, she lifted the blanket, got out of bed, and walked to the window. Once again, she opened the curtains and looked outside.

Even Rosalie could not explain to herself why she did this. Why did she want to see if Jonathan was still outside? It was so late, so he should have returned to his room and slept by now.

As she looked outside, she saw his tall figure still standing by the lotus pond.

Rosalie was startled to realize that he was still there!

Moreover, his posture was exactly the same as when she had closed the curtains earlier. He was still standing there, tilting his chin up, looking in her direction.

Rosalie suddenly had an inexplicable feeling. The next moment, she hurriedly rushed out of the room.

As she did not know where to find an umbrella in a rush, Rosalie could only grab a quilt and put it over her head to shield herself from the rain as she ran to the lotus pond.

Even though the quilt covered her head and part of her body, her arms and front were still being drenched by the rain.

The rain felt icy cold.

Rosalie quickly reached Jonathan, who was still standing there. She was panting slightly as she said, “What are you doing here? It’s raining. You should go back to your room.”

He remained motionless, still standing in the same spot. “Why did you come out?” Jonathan’s cold voice echoed on the rainy night.

His clothes were completely soaked. His hair was wet, and his face was covered in raindrops. His dark, profound eyes stared at her through the falling rain.

“Let’s get inside first,” she said, trying to pull him inside.

He remained unmoving. “Why did you come out?” he asked stubbornly.

Rosalie was at a loss and could only say, “If I don’t come out, are you just going to stand here in the rain?”

“So, are you concerned about me getting wet?” he asked.

She glared at him. The rain grew heavier, and he was already completely soaked. If this continued, he might catch a cold.

All that could be heard around them was the sound of rain.

After a while, Rosalie finally said, “Let’s just say I’m concerned. Can we go inside now?”

Rosalie justified it as not wanting to see him actually fall ill, especially in this manor where it was just the two of them. Dealing with problems would be difficult. She tried to convince herself with these reasons.

“Do I truly not feel any concern?” There was a voice in her heart asking this, but she could not provide an answer.

Jonathan finally lifted his thin lips slightly and uttered a “fine” softly. He tightly held her hand.

She led him inside, where she only needed to dry off a bit since she was minimally wet, but he was drenched.

“You should take a hot shower quickly. Otherwise, you might catch a cold,” she advised as she turned to leave.

However, he still held her hand firmly, refusing to let go.

In this state, she could not leave.

“Can you let go of my hand? I need to go…”

Before she could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Jonathan. “Stay with me!” he demanded.

“Stay with him? In this condition?” she thought.

“Take a hot shower now,” she suggested.

“Stay with me,” he said, his gaze fixed on her as if he would not accept any refusal.

Rosalie felt a sense of suffocation. At this moment, she even had a feeling that if she really refused now, he might do something dangerous that she could not bear.

She hesitated for a moment and said, “Fine, then. Go, take a hot shower, and I’ll wait for you outside.”

With that, his gaze softened. “Okay, you gave me your word that you’ll wait for me,” he said, his voice hoarse. Rainwater still dripped from his face as he spoke.
