The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 545

Chapter 545

Simultaneously, on the other side, Rosalie sat at the dining table and looked at the dishes served on the table that were still steaming hot. However, their appearances looked quite ordinary and did not seem to be made by a professional chef.

“I made them. Have a taste,” Jonathan said as if he had read her thoughts.

Rosalie was slightly surprised, thinking, “He knows how to cook, too?”

“You cooked for me in the rental home back then. Now, I do the same for you. Isn’t that good? If you think they taste bad, I’ll improve next time,” he said. His beautiful eyes gazed at her amusingly as if there had never been a breakup or painful memories between them.

It seemed like their relationship had returned to the warmest time.

Rosalie looked away uncomfortably, refusing to meet his eyes.

His eyes seemed like they contained magic, sending ripples in her tranquil heart.

“Where are the housekeepers? Why don’t I see them?” She tried to find another topic.

“There are no housekeepers here,” Jonathan said. “Of course, someone will come here regularly to restock the ingredients in the refrigerator and clean the place, but you won’t have a chance to see these people. You can think of it as you and I are the only ones here.”

Rosalie was shocked.

He continued, “It’s only me and you here, so you can look at me carefully and think about when you will fall in love with me again.”

“As I said, it’s impossible,” she said.

“And as I said, you will fall in love with me again!” He insisted. “If you really think it’s impossible, why won’t you even look at

me now?”

Rosalie bit her lower lip and suddenly turned around, her eyes finally looking at him.

Just like that, their gazes met each other.

She was glaring at him, but he merely stared at her with a light smile.

After some time had passed, Jonathan’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and he said, “Okay, let’s eat first. The food will get cold if we don’t.”

After saying that, he averted his gaze, took a fork, and started digging in.

Rosalie suddenly felt relieved. She pondered momentarily and thought it was a little childish. The way they exchanged gazes just now was like the behavior of primary school students.

She looked into his eyes like that to deny she would fall in love with him again.

Yet, when her eyes met his, she could clearly feel her heart beating faster and faster as if it was telling her how strong of an influence he had on her.

Rosalie lowered her head and ate the food.

His cooking skills were neither good nor bad, but it might shock others if she told others she ate Jonathan’s home-cooked food.

Rosalie secretly mocked herself inwardly. She never thought she could one day eat his home-cooked food under such circumstances.

“What is this place?” She could not help but ask.

“It’s an old residence of the Youngblood family in the past,” Jonathan explained openly, not hiding a single thing from her. “However, only a few people know of this place. The Youngblood family has never disclosed this location to the public.”

She could not help but frown as she thought, “Is he implying it’s hard for the outside world to find him shutting me here?”

“Besides, you weren’t the only one confined in this place,” he said.

She blinked, thinking, “What did he mean by that?”

“Another woman was locked up here once. This place was initially bought to lock her up,” Jonathan spoke slowly like he was telling her a story.

Rosalie stiffened and felt a chill surrounding her body. She pondered, “There used to be another woman locked up here?”

“I think it was around 70 years ago. An ancestor of the Youngblood family fell in love with a woman, but that woman had a fiancé. They were a loving couple who made an oath to one another. Therefore, the ancestor of the Youngblood family snatched the woman from this house and locked her up, guarding her day and night just to make her fall in love with him.”

Jonathan’s voice was originally cold. Echoing throughout the antique dining hall, his voice gave off a chilling and overpowering feeling.

When Rosalie was brought here, she first thought this place was classical and exuded elegance.

After hearing his words, she had a change of mind.

“Then, what happened?” She could hear the hoarseness in her voice as she asked.

“Later, that woman fell in love with the ancestor of the Youngblood family and left this house,” Jonathan said and stared at her. “What about you? Do you want to leave this place?”

Her throat suddenly felt dry. “If I don’t fall in love with you, I won’t be able to leave here, won’t I?”

“I will be here with you until you fall in love with me,” he uttered.

She fell silent, thinking, “Like the woman locked up in here back then? Even though she had a fiancé, whom she pledged an oath to, she still fell in love with the man who locked her up in here?”

“That’s enough. You haven’t finished eating yet. Hurry up. They’re getting cold soon,” he urged her, putting some food on her plate.

She looked at the food on her plate and asked hoarsely, “Why must you insist on my falling in love with you again? If you truly want to be loved, you could’ve found a woman who willingly loves you.”

“There must be many women like that in Strico. After all, he’s Jonathan, the Mr. Youngblood of Strico! Even without this status, his appearance alone is enough to charm many women,” Rosalie thought.

“What about you? Why do you insist me to take you back to your place?” His voice sounded, “If you hadn’t taken me to your place and didn’t ask me to call you Rosie, I wouldn’t have fallen in love with you, let alone trap you here.”

Rosalie suddenly raised her gaze, and their eyes met once more.

He smiled lightly and looked at her gently. “From the beginning, you led me into your world first, didn’t you? Don’t you think it’s too late to ask why I insist on being with you?”

Her heart pounded heavily as she thought, ‘Yes. This wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t brought him back to my place.

It was me who led him into my world. Now, when I wanted to retreat, he wouldn’t allow it.’

“Rosie, you were the one who made me understand what loving a person really is. Since you made me love you so deeply, you should also be responsible for me to the end, right?” He said while staring at her.

“I… It’s not like I’ve never not fallen in love with you, but we have broken up,” she said with difficulty. Now, she had no strength to fall in love with anyone anymore.
