The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 520

Chapter 520

Lillian looked around. There were many such food carts, and the foot traffic was also good.

“Since you haven’t had dinner yet, I’ll cook two portions of spaghetti for you. You should try my cooking,” Amelia said.

“Okay!” Lillian said with a smile, as she never had a taste of Amelia’s cooking before.

Rosalie looked at Amelia with concern and said, “What about you? You haven’t had dinner, right?”

“I’ll just eat something later. I run a food cart, so there’s no way I’ll go hungry!” Amelia smiled and quickly cooked two bowls of spaghetti for Rosalie and Lillian.

They huddled at a small square table and ate. Lillian praised Amelia’s cooking skills while eating, “This tastes much better than my mom’s.”

“Is the food at home still cooked by your mother?” Rosalie asked.

“Yes. Even though her cooking skills haven’t improved for decades, she still likes to occupy the kitchen. It didn’t help that my father would flatter my mother every time by telling her how delicious her cooking was. It only prevented her from) learning the truth about her cooking skills.”

The mention of the topic caused Lillian to complain helplessly. Her mom’s delusion was partly caused by her dad. Only when he couldn’t stand it any longer would he stop her mom from cooking under the pretext that she needed rest. Then, he would cook by himself.

“It shows that your father really loves your mother!” Rosalie said. In fact, she was envious of them. Although their relationship was ordinary and absent of drama, it was the small details in their lives that were heart-warming.

In the past, she hoped to enjoy such a relationship.

However, it had now become a luxury.

“Yes, they love each other.” Lillian shrugged and said, “By the way, how are you doing with Jonathan these days? Does he still insist on you playing along as part of his make-believe family?”

Rosalie suddenly remembered that night. He told her that he wanted to start all over again and to love her. Moreover, he wanted her to fall in love with him again.

After she refused him, he didn’t come to see her again.

However, the day she rejected him, the empty and lonely expression he showed seemed to be seared in her mind. When it was late at night, it would flash through her mind as soon as she closed her eyes.

“What’s the matter? Did Jonathan do something to you again?” The silence of her friend immediately made Lillian nervous.

“No, he just…” Before Rosalie could answer, Lillian’s phone suddenly rang. When she saw Callum’s name on the caller ID, she answered it.

“Where are you now? At Amelia’s house? Do you want me to come and pick you up?” Callum asked, knowing that she went to Amelia’s house with Rosalie.

“I’m not there anymore. Amelia runs a food cart on Ocean Street in the evening, so we came here together. I drove today, so you don’t need to pick me up. Later, I will send Rosalie home before heading back. I’ll call you when I get home,” Lillian said.

“Okay,” Callum answered.

When Lillian was about to end the call, someone kicked over a chair at the table next to them.

Lillian looked up and saw the three men who were previously sitting at their table eating. Now they wore fierce expressions, and one of them snarled, “What is this crap? How dare you charge for this? Damn it, there’s a fly in your food. Do you want to get us killed?”

The other two men were also yelling about being cheated and demanding their money back.

The three men seemed to be there to cause trouble.

Even then, Amelia hurried forward to calm the situation and apologize. “Why don’t I prepare a new portion for you? Your next meal will also be on the house.”

“Are you trying to dismiss us? There’s a fly in your food! What if we end up in the hospital after eating it? What about the medical expenses? Besides, even if you serve us a new portion now, we wouldn’t dare to eat it!”

“Stop wasting time. Get her to compensate us!”

“Yeah, pay us compensation! If you don’t, you’ll never be able to do business here!”

While ranting away, one of them deliberately pinched a dead fly and shook it in front of Amelia as if it were physical evidence.

Chapter?

Some people who were eating watched the scene.

Amelia knew that the three of them were blackmailing her, but at that moment, she didn’t have any evidence to prove that the fly was planted by them. She could only grit her teeth and say, “How about I pay you 40 dollars?”

40 dollars was almost the net profit of her whole night.

However, the other party was obviously not satisfied with 40 dollars.

“40 dollars! Do you think I’m a beggar?”

“Yeah, it should be at least 10,000 dollars. If you don’t have it, you can’t continue doing business here!”

10,000 dollars was impossible for Amelia to fork out.

Hearing this, Lillian was enraged. “10,000 dollars. Why don’t you go and rob me instead? You might have very well planted the fly in the food!”

“What? Are you accusing us of blackmail?” the man said fiercely.

“You are blackmailing me!” Lillian said angrily.

“I found the fly in your food. This right here is physical evidence. If you think I’m lying, you should prove that it wasn’t in your food,” the man said with a willful expression.

Lillian was driven up the wall by the three scoundrels.

At that moment, Rosalie said, “There is no way to prove that the fly was planted by you or originally in the food, but it can be proven that you are extorting us.”

As Rosalie spoke, she picked up her phone and said, “I’ve recorded how you demanded money/just now. Now, I’ll call the police. Let’s see how the police deal with this once they arrive.”

With that, she attempted to dial 911.

In response, the three men immediately became angry.

One of them turned over the table, causing the plates and cutlery on it to crash all over the ground. As those around exclaimed in shock, the customers who had been eating fled one after another.

When the three men were about to hit Rosalie, Amelia hurriedly wanted to protect the latter. The matter was her responsibility, so she couldn’t let Rosalie and Lillian be beaten up.

“Both of you, run!” Amelia said.
