The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 489

Chapter 489

Jonathan regretted wanting Rosalie to come over and cook dinner that day.

“Keep rinsing your hand with cold water. Let me take care of the soup,” he said.

“You?” She was a little surprised.

“Can’t I?” he replied and walked to the pot, opened the lid, checked the soup inside, and began to add some seasoning. After tasting the soup with a spoon, he turned off the fire.

The series of movements looked elegant and natural, which made Rosalie feel like she was watching some kind of food show.

However, Jonathan kept looking at her from time to time while making the soup. He seemed to be checking whether she was. rinsing her hand with cold water.

After rinsing cold water for more than ten minutes, Rosalie’s fingers were finally relieved from the cold water.

It was just a little red, and it was not a big deal.

“It’s still a little red,” Jonathan said with a frown.

“It should be fine in two days,” Rosalie replied.

Just as she finished speaking, he had already put her fingertips in his mouth and licked them gently as if he were gently soothing the wounds on her fingers.

Rosalie’s body stiffened. She felt the blood all over her body rushing to her fingertips. She tried to pull back her fingers, but she felt like she could not exert any strength.

Gradually, his licking became kissing, and kisses fell on her fingertips.

Meanwhile, his eyes were fixed on her.

Her fluster was reflected in his eyes. She felt like she was going to be immersed in his eyes.

Her heartbeat seemed to become faster.

This could not go on. If this went on, she would…

Rosalie used up almost all her strength to pull back her hand and took a step back. “My fingers are fine!”

Jonathan’s eyelashes quivered slightly, and his black eyes seemed to be covered with a layer of gauze. It became more and more difficult for people to see what was on his mind.

“Let’s eat then.”

The housekeeper served the food, including the soup Rosalie made, but Rosalie and Jonathan said nothing to each other during the meal. The whole dining room was quiet.

Rosalie only found Jonathan unusually silent at this moment.

After finally finishing the meal, he said, “I’ll ask the driver to drive you home.”

She nodded.

However, before leaving, she could not help but look at him and ask, “Are you okay?”

He smiled. “What do you think is wrong,

Rosie?”

Rosalie was speechless. It seemed that she had overthink it, so she said nothing and turned around to leave.

Jonathan’s dark eyes fixed on her back. When she disappeared from his view, he stood up and walked toward the bedroom

on the second floor.

The bedroom she once lived in was now his bedroom.

Everything she had used was still in this room. Every night, he would come here and hold her clothes to sleep.

He opened the wardrobe, took out a long dress she had worn before, and tightly held it in his arms.

It was like he was holding the person he loved the most.

Jonathan almost lost control just now. When he licked her fingers, his desire became stronger. He almost… almost… had his way with her in the kitchen.

Even if he decided not to love her, broke up with her, and only treated her like a sister, she still had a great influence on him.

She just gazed at him, and that made him feel like he had lost his soul. His rationality seemed to be out of control.

“Tell me how to not love you…” Jonathan muttered in the quiet bedroom.

He thought it was difficult to love someone, but he fell in love with Rosalie so easily.

Jonathan thought it was easy not to love someone, but… it was so difficult…

“Rosie… Rosie…” The hoarse voice called the name over and over again as if it had become his only…

When Rosalie went to work the next day, everyone in the office looked at her differently.

Many people deliberately came to Rosalie to inquire about her relationship with Calvin. Of course, Rosalie only replied, “We have nothing to do with each other.”

Therefore, those people went over curiously and returned in disappointment.

Elodia looked at Rosalie with extreme jealousy. Elodia thought Rosalie was doomed yesterday and would be kicked out of the firm, but she did not expect the twist of events later.

Forget about kicking Rosalie out of the firm, now, many people were probably trying to curry favor with her.

Even the colleagues who despised Rosalie for being a homewrecker with her yesterday had also shown concern for Rosalie and found all kinds of topics to talk about with Rosalie.

It made Elodia frustrated.

“The trial will be officially held three days later. You need to sort out the materials.” In the office, Lawrence explained what to pay attention to in court. Of course, Rosalie was very familiar with the procedures in court.

“Okay,” she answered. “Mr. Guzman, is there really no way to change the defendant in this case?”

“We don’t have enough evidence. The court will look at the complete chain of evidence, but the evidence we have isn’t enough to form a favorable chain of evidence. You’re also a lawyer and should understand,” Lawrence replied.

Rosalie’s eyes darkened. She understood, of course.

However, she had always hoped that Larry could get compensated and good treatment.

Otherwise, it was pointless to win the case.

After they were done talking about work, Lawrence also asked, “What is your relationship with Mr. Calvin Gunner? Can you tell me?”

Rosalie could not answer Lawrence as she did to other colleagues, so she answered, “Mr. Guzman, I have a cousin named Fiona Haberly who is considered Mr. Gunner’s friend.”

Hearing this, Lawrence did not ask any more questions but left more instructions about the case.

When Rosalie came out of the office, her phone rang as she received a text message. She took out her phone and found that it was sent by Amelia, but it was obvious that the content was not from Amelia.

That was because the text message read: [Rosalie, Mommy fainted.]

Rosalie immediately made a phone call, and Aiden answered it.

“Aiden, what’s wrong?”

“Rosalie, Mommy fainted. What should I do?” Aiden’s childish voice sounded like he was crying. After all, he was just a four-year-old kid and was naturally afraid of such situations.

“Where’s your grandmother Matilda?” Rosalie continued to ask Aiden.

“Granny Matilda… went out for groceries. I called her,” Aiden replied. He wanted to call Rosalie, but Amelia told him not to call Rosalie during the day because Rosalie needed to work. That was why Aiden texted Rosalie.
