Chapter 467
She looked at him in astonishment. “You mean you want to move here?”
“What’s wrong? Didn’t we live together back then?” he asked with a hint of amusement.
Rosalie pondered, “How could it be the same as before?” She pursed her thin lips tightly and did not know how to respond at
that moment.
“Or is it that you don’t want to live with me, Rosie?” He leaned down with his face close to her cheek and questioned her.
His breath brushed against her face. The face, which could almost be known as a masterpiece of heavens, was so close to her that she could even see every single eyelash, along with the faint tremor of his lashes.
She instinctively wanted to look away, avoiding his gaze.
Yet, the next moment, his fingers clasped her chin and forced her to look at him.
“Why? Is it difficult to answer?” His voice was cold, while his dark eyes bore a sharp intensity as if he wanted to see through her thoughts. “Or perhaps, have you changed your mind? Regret agreeing to me for the sake of Amelia?”
“I won’t go back on my words.” Rosalie said with a slightly bitter tone, “It’s just that I can’t switch my identity as quickly as you can. Jonathan, I hope you can give me some time to readjust. Is that okay?”
Her voice was almost pleading, and his gaze flickered slightly. “If this is your request, then fine. I can temporarily not live with you to give you time to adapt, but I don’t like waiting too long.”
She was relieved.
“Also, please address me as Jon.” His fingers gently traced her red lips.
Her lips became hot. “Jon,” she called out as he wished.
He smiled, stretched out his arms, and hugged her. His face was deeply buried in her neck, and he instructed gently, “Finally, you have become mine again. From now on, you must stay beside me obediently and never leave. Do you understand?”
Her body stiffened, feeling a chill enveloping her entire being.
Even though his embrace was so warm, she still felt extremely cold.
The next day, Rosalie met Amelia. The latter’s emotions had stabilized, but her complexion did not look too good, and she appeared somewhat worn out.
“Are you okay?” Rosalie asked.
Amelia forced a smile and replied, “I’m fine. I heard from my mom she called you yesterday, and you helped me.” However, as she mentioned that, her expression turned worried again. “Did you go to find Jonathan yesterday because of my issues?”
The man who came to see Warren claimed to be Jonathan’s personal assistant.
When she thought about it, only someone with a status like Jonathan’s could force Warren to allow her and Aiden to leave.
After all, Strico was Jonathan’s territory.
Rosalie nodded.
“He didn’t make any demands, did he?” Amelia asked anxiously, fearing that Rosalie might have suffered for her sake.
“Nothing much. He just asked me to be his older sister again,” Rosalie answered nonchalantly.
Amelia had heard from Rosalie before regarding how she and Jonathan originally met, so the former knew some details.
At that time, she was still marveling at the wonders of fate and how it could bring two unrelated people together.
Yet, now, she wondered if that kind of fate was considered a curse rather than a blessing.
“You don’t have to sacrifice yourself for my sake,” Amelia said, feeling ashamed and guilty.
“It’s not just because of your situation.” Rosalie continued, “Amelia, you don’t need to feel guilty. Jonathan had decided to have me be his older sister again. Even if it isn’t for your situation this time, there would have been something else in the future.
As long as Jonathan had decided to do something, he would always find a way to make it happen.
Even if she could refuse him once or twice, she wondered how many times she could refuse him in the long run. Perhaps her refusals were just part of his game, making it challenging for him.
“But…” Amelia seemed to want to say something more.
“Amelia, you should think of it this way. At least you and Aiden won’t have to live in constant fear in Strico anymore. And as for me, I’ve been through prison. Although I’ve cleared my name, I’m just a lowly legal assistant. This deal seems quite worthwhile since I have Jonathan as a powerful ally now.”
Rosalie spoke lightly, but Amelia knew she was saying that to make her feel better.
The latter thought, “Is it really a good deal? She wants to forget about him and move on so badly, but now she’s bound to him instead.”
“All right, let’s not talk about my situation. What about you? Did Warren make things difficult for you yesterday?” Rosalie asked with concern.
Amelia forced a wry smile. “He wanted Aiden to return to the York family and acknowledge his heritage, but I refused.”
“Does Aiden know Warren is his father?”
“He doesn’t know. When Aiden arrived at the hotel yesterday, he fell asleep right away. Jonathan’s secretary arrived before Warren could say anything,” Amelia explained.
If it were not for Jonathan’s influence, Warren would not have let them go in the first place yesterday.
When she left the hotel suite with Aiden sleeping in her arms, Warren’s face darkened terrifyingly.
Rosalie pondered for a moment and suggested, “Since he has mentioned it, perhaps he’ll try to contest for custody of the child.” It was the most effective way for Warren to make Aiden acknowledge his heritage and return to the York family.
The mention of custody seemed to strike a nerve with Amelia, and her face turned pale. She gritted her teeth and exclaimed, “How could he? How dare he even consider it! He never wanted Aiden in the first place. Besides, he’s always been a perfectionist. A child with imperfections like Aiden is beneath his consideration. He’s doing this out of pure spite!”
Rosalie was unaware of the exact emotional entanglement between Amelia and Warren. However,/seeing his feelings towards Aiden, she did not believe it was a matter of disdain.
After all, in the beginning, before Warren knew Aiden’s true identity, he had helped the latter find a hearing aid and even held his hand to find his parents. Besides, the former had voluntarily expressed his desire to sponsor the latter after that incident.
She wondered, “Could it be the natural instinct of blood ties? Does a perfectionist, even when facing his biological son who has a disability without knowing their identity, still be irresistibly drawn to them?”
“I’m just making an assumption. Whether he’ll contest for custody or not depends on Warren’s intentions,” Rosalie responded.
“He’ll definitely fight for it,” Amelia remarked, feeling upset.
According to her understanding of Warren, if he could declare he wanted Aiden to return to the York family and did not even grant her the right to see her son, then the former was definitely going to contest for custody.
