Chapter 459
As she spoke, she tried to pull her hand back forcefully.
However, he held it firmly. “Call me Jon,” he said.
“Isn’t that inappropriate, Mr. Youngblood? We…”
“Call me Jon,” he insisted. “Or do you want to waste more time here with me?”
Rosalie bit her lower lip and glanced around! Many people were how looking in their direction. If they continued like that, there might be a video of them together on the Internet soon.
“Jo… Jon,” she said reluctantly.
Instantly, a faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips. In his beautiful gaze, hostility and danger were replaced by a gentle smile.
Rosalie watched as Jonathan walked confidently into her rental home, considering whether she should move to a different place.
On second thought, even if she moved, she realized he could still enter her house anytime.
“What exactly do you want?” Rosalie glared at Jonathan.
“Are you going to make dinner?” He looked at the vegetables she had bought earlier from the market.
“Yes,” she answered.
“Then make enough for two. I’ll eat too,” he said.
She paused for a second before replying, “I only bought enough for one serving. You can go to the restaurant or make a takeout order if you are hungry.”
“But I want to eat what you cook,” he said. “If we don’t have enough ingredients, just tell me what you need, and I’ll have someone buy them.”
Rosalie remained silent. She knew that if he had decided to do something, he would make it happen, one way or another.
The only difference would be the process.
She thought, “It’s just a meal. I should thank him for saving me today.” Then, she sighed deeply and said, “All right, I understand. I’ll cook dinner. It will take about half an hour.”
With that, she turned around and started preparing dinner in the kitchen.
Rosalie washed and chopped the vegetables skillfully and began to cook.
Meanwhile, Jonathan silently watched her voluptuous figure.
Just watching her like that gave him a feeling of satisfaction.
Those days, when he was alone in the empty Youngblood residence, her image filled his mind. Every night, he would sleep in her old bedroom, covered in her blankets and surrounded by the clothes she hadn’t taken with her, just to get a good night’s sleep.
It was as if he was holding her in his arms.
Like a person dying of thirst in the desert, even smelling her lingering scent on those items made him feel like he could survive a little longer.
It was not until he saw her at that moment that he felt alive.
He rushed to it as if he had found an oasis in the desert, thirsty for more.
Just then, Rosalie finished preparing the food and came out of the kitchen. She placed it on the small dining table and handed Jonathan a fork.
Jonathan lowered his head and began to eat. After a few bites, he looked at her and said, “This is delicious, Rosie.”
Her expression changed. “Don’t call me that.”
“Why not?” He smiled. “Isn’t that good? I can make you the most honored woman in Strico. You can have anything you want in this city, even the most precious things. I can bring them to you.”
Rosalie asked, “What if I want you to never appear in front of me again?”
His gaze gradually became colder. “Is that what you want? You don’t want to see me again?” Even his voice sounded cold.
“Yes,” she replied, meeting his gaze with determination.
Only by never seeing him again could she truly forget him and their complicated relationship.
Jonathan’s expression darkened, and the atmosphere became tense.
Just as Rosalie thought Jonathan might leave in rage, he suddenly smiled and said, “But I really want to see you. What should I do?”
She hesitated, unable to continue after hearing his words.
“Okay, let’s eat. I don’t want our rare meal together to be so tense,” he said. “I remember you used to enjoy having meals with me, Rosie. Even if I came home late, you insisted on waiting to eat together.”
Rosalie looked at Jonathan, who was eating with his head down again, and her throat felt tight.
Back then, she had enjoyed having meals with him because it made them feel like a family.
However, eating together now seemed ironic.
Rosalie lowered her head, picked up her fork, and began to eat the meal she had prepared. Although she had cooked it the same way as usual, it tasted unpleasant in her mouth.
Neither of them spoke as they ate. The only sound in the rental home was the clinking of cutlery and an eerie silence.
When they finally finished eating, Rosalie looked at Jonathan and said, “Well, we’ve finished our meal. Can you leave now?”
“So, have you made up your mind? Will you let me call you ‘Rosie’?” he asked.
She stared at him coldly. “Jonathan, do you really want to call me that when we were together? Don’t you find it disgusting?”
“Disgusting?” He suddenly reached out, his hand grabbing the back of her head, and brought his face close to hers. He breathed softly and said, “Even if it’s disgusting, so what?”
He didn’t want to lose sight of her again, and even if he had to use that method, he wanted to keep her by his side.
“I won’t love you, but other than that, I can give you everything you want. Didn’t you always want a family? I can be your family, the most perfect family. Isn’t that good?” His warm breath hit her face.
His murmuring voice was like a devil’s temptation, making it hard for her to resist.
Rosalie looked at his face. She had once loved him deeply and had been willing to entrust her entire life to him.
She had thought he had been her true family.
However, hearing the word “family” now brought a sense of unspoken sadness.
As he said, perhaps becoming his family again would ensure her a worry-free life and many privileges, but it would all depend on his whims.
Once he was tired of playing the game, she would be left with nothing again.
“I don’t want to,” she said softly but firmly.
