The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 453

Chapter 453

Fiona smiled and said, “I like it very much. I didn’t expect the pool to be so interesting.”

Meanwhile, Kayden was busy flattering Calvin and Fiona, praising Calvin’s teaching skills and Fiona’s talent for playing pool.

As for Rosalie, who had been standing nearby, she appeared to be entirely forgotten by everyone.

Rosalie listened to what Fiona had just said and felt that her cousin was exceptionally skilled at acting. Back then, she had never imagined that Fiona could lie so convincingly.

Rosalie thought, “I’m sure Calvin believes that Fiona is the little girl from his childhood, right?”

Silently, she added, “Even if I run over and tell Calvin the truth now, he will just consider me a joke, won’t he?”

Meanwhile, the pain in her knee appeared to be becoming increasingly unbearable.

Rosalie frowned slightly and tightly pursed her lips, attempting to ignore the pain in her knees and persevere.

Now, she could only wait until they finished the game and then approach Kayden to ask for his signature.

Rosalie, with her head slightly bowed, remained unaware that someone was observing her intently from the corner of their

eye.

Calvin understood he should not be concerned about Rosalie anymore, as they had clarified things on the mountain that day.

He knew she wasn’t the one he was searching for, realizing his past emotions were mere illusions. The person he sought was Fiona. She was also the one he aimed to repay the debt to.

“Rosalie’s heart belongs to Jonathan, the person she loves,” thought Calvin.

However, Calvin couldn’t help but wonder why she would endure the bullying from people like Kayden and stand there for so long just to obtain his signature.

“What’s happening? Where’s Jonathan? Wasn’t he always protective of Rosalie? Why would he let her be bullied here?” Calvin wondered.

Confusion flickered in Calvin’s heart as he observed Rosalie’s delicate face, which appeared even paler under the harsh light. He noticed a thin layer of sweat glistened on her forehead, and her lips were pressed tightly as if she was suppressing something.

Calvin couldn’t help but frown and think, “What is wrong with her? Is she feeling uncomfortable?”

But the next moment, he cautioned himself not to dwell on her situation, reminding himself that Rosalie’s well-being was Jonathan’s concern and not his own.

“Calvin, how should I play this ball?” Fiona’s intentionally gentle voice reached his ears.

Calvin shot an indifferent glance at Fiona, who was standing next to him, before replying, “I’ll teach you.”

Rosalie didn’t know how long she had been standing there. The pain in her knee intensified, and it felt like her entire willpower was focused on suppressing the pain.

Unfortunately, no one would help her now. Neither Jonathan nor Calvin would come to her aid.

She then recalled the words Calvin had spoken to her as she was leaving the mountain.

“Rosalie, once I let you go here, I will remain indifferent to whatever happens to you from now on,” he had said.

“Yes, he promised he wouldn’t help me in the future, and he’s keeping his word now,” thought Rosalie.

After all, to him now, she wasn’t the little girl who had saved him when he was a child. She was a total stranger.

Finally, when Kayden finished his match, Rosalie staggered forward and said, “Mr. Yaeger, could you please sign this? We need to use this document tomorrow.”

“Who allowed you to come forward?” Kayden immediately raised his hand in displeasure and waved Rosalie away. He had just finished the game and was annoyed that Rosalie had interrupted him before he could talk with Calvin.

His action caused Rosalie to stagger. Her knees gave way, and she was on the verge of collapsing.

In the nick of time, a hand swiftly grasped her waist, keeping her from falling.

“What happened to your leg?” Calvin asked in a cold voice. He had noticed her limping over just moments ago.

“It’s a chronic problem,” Rosalie explained and thanked him. “Thank you.”

Calvin pursed his thin lips and withdrew his hand. His eyes fixated on her legs as he wondered, “A chronic problem? When did she develop such an issue?”

“Rosalie, are you okay?” Fiona immediately expressed her deep concern for her cousin. “Actually, if your legs are bothering you, you can sit nearby and take a break!”

Rosalie gave Fiona a cold glance. If Fiona truly cared about Rosalie, she wouldn’t have coldly ignored Rosalie upon noticing the latter was standing nearby while enjoying her game of pool.

Kayden, on the other hand, was taken aback and immediately asked, sounding unnatural, “D-Do you know each other?”

“Yes, Rosalie is my cousin,” Fiona replied while smiling.

Kayden’s expression became visibly more strained upon hearing that. He then said to Rosalie, “Why didn’t you mention it earlier? If you had, I would have signed the document earlier on.

“Can you sign it now?”/Rosalie asked, handing the document to Kayden.

“Yes, of course!” Kayden answered hurriedly. He took the document and signed it.

After getting the document back, Rosalie turned and began to limp away.

However, after taking only a few steps, her arm was grabbed by someone.

Rosalie raised her head in surprise and looked at Calvin. “Mr. Gunner, is there anything else I can assist you with?”

Calvin appeared lost in his thoughts, and his eyes fixed on his hand clasping Rosalie’s arm. “What’s happening to me? I warned myself not to care about her anymore. I’ve already made an exception by not standing by coldly when she fell just now,” he contemplated.

But as he saw her leaving, he found himself subconsciously wanting to offer to accompany her home.

“Even if there’s an issue with her leg, why should it concern me? Moreover, she’s the one responsible for putting herself in this situation. She could have easily used her relationship with Jonathan to get Kayden’s signature, but she chose this awkward path,” Calvin thought.

“Calvin,” Fiona called out, feeling uneasy. Her only desire at that moment was to pull his hand away from Rosalie’s arm. “In Calvin’s heart, I am his life-saving savior! But why does he always care about Rosalie?” she screamed inwardly. Calvin snapped back to reality and retracted his hand. “Where is Jonathan? Why didn’t he accompany you?” he asked. Rosalie didn’t answer his question. Instead, she bowed her head and left the banquet hall with a limp as she endured the pain in her knees.

Calvin’s gaze followed her retreating figure, tinged with a hint of misery, and he pursed his lips tightly.

Fiona gazed at Calvin with evident worry and jealousy in her eyes. The way he watched Rosalie walking away made her feel as if he could only see Rosalie!

“Even though I have taken credit for what Rosalie did back then, there are some things I can’t control, isn’t there?” Fiona wondered.
