The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 371

Chapter 371

She thought, ‘How could he end his life so easily? Why didn’t he consider his son? He should have known what his death. meant to Jon who was so young at that time.

It was obvious that sending Jon to the Youngblood family was not the best choice. He just forgot that the father’s company was irreplaceable for a kid.

Jon lost his mother, but later, he could not even make his father stay.

As a young child, he was confined to a residence with his blood-related grandfather whom he hated so much!

Rosalie could almost imagine how cautious Jonathan must be when he lived there at such a young age.

In this residence, there was no sound relationship between Jonathan and his grandfather. Jonathan must struggle to survive in this horrible place.

Rosalie walked through the hall step by step and came to the inner room.

The decoration inside was the same as she had seen before, and the photo of Jonathan’s father was put on the desk.

At this moment, Jonathan stood still in front of the photo like a slender statue.

His back was straight, and the dim light fell on him, casting a shadow over the ground.

At this moment, the sense of loneliness oozed from him seemed to separate him from everything around him.

It was as if there had been nothing else in his inner world.

Rosalie had an impulse to cry. She couldn’t even explain why she had such a feeling that there was an invisible gap between Jonathan and her at this moment.

However, they should have been the closest to each other in the world.

“Jon!” said Rosalie in a particularly clear voice in this quiet room.

The tall man trembled slightly and then slowly turned around. His dark but glassy eyes stared at her with depressing

moroseness.

Suddenly, Rosalie felt her heartbeat was missing.

He gazed at her the way he looked at her when she first met him.

Such a look conveyed her indifference to everything even including himself.

“Jon!” She yelled again with nervousness and anxiety.

This time, Rosalie’s voice effectively dragged Jonathan out of his world. The lifelessness in his eyes gradually faded, and instead, the usual gentleness came back.

“Why are you here?” Jonathan asked in a low voice with tiredness in his tone.

“That’s my question for you. It’s so late. Why are you here?” She said, thinking that it was not a special day requiring him to

be here.

As she spoke, she walked up to him and raised her hand to touch his cheek gently, but she felt the coldness on his face.

It was already July, and the air conditioner wasn’t turned on here. Even though it was night, the air was still hot. However, Jonathan’s skin tended to be chilly.

“I’m not sleepy, so I came here,” he replied.

“Are you OK? Your face feels so cold?” Rosalie frowned and continued, “It’s too late. Let’s go back to the bedroom.”

As she talked, she put down her hand and was about to grab Jonathan’s hand, but Jonathan took action ahead of her.

His palm pressed against the back of her hand so that her hand continued to press on his cheek.

Then Jonathan stared at her quietly with his charming eyes.

“What’s going on?” Rosalie only felt that he was a little strange now. His quietness and the lifelessness in his eyes made her

uneasy.

“I’m the only one you love, right?” He uttered those words through his thin lips, and his voice was like the night wind across the wood.

“Undoubtedly,” she replied without any hesitation.

“You will never betray me, right?” he added. Surprisingly, vulnerability appeared in his bewitching face.

Rosalie’s anxiety seemed to become more intense because he looked fragile.

“Why do you mention this?”

“Say that you will never betray me, okay?” His voice was hoarse, and he seemed to beg her for a positive reply.

For a moment, in addition to feeling uneasy, she was sorry for Jonathan.

Jonathan became so weak in exchange for an unchanged promise of hers.

She peered over his shoulder and saw the photo behind him.

She knew that the man with a tender expression in the photo was his father, who chose to die because he was abandoned by the woman he loved.

It was a kind of betrayal.

His father was betrayed by his mother.

Likewise, he was betrayed by his father and left alone in the world.

His eyes were still fixed on her, as he was waiting for her to give him an answer.

She held back her tears. Others thought Jonathan was affluent enough to get everything he wanted, but they didn’t know his severe but hidden mental wound.

At this moment, she just wanted to heal his wound and support him.

“I will never betray you.” She looked back at his face, met his eyes, and assured him with resolve.

“Really?” he whispered in a soft voice.

“Really,” said she.

The next moment, his cheeks gently rubbed against her palms. The warmth coming from her hands transferred to Jonathan to help him get rid of the coldness.

Rosalie could not imagine how bad his mood was when he stood in front of her father’s photo tonight.

Even though his father had passed away for many years, his death was still so cruel for Jonathan.

His father said, “Jon, don’t fall in love with someone as I do. You can only hurt yourself in the end.”

But he had to tell his father that had fallen in love with someone so deeply.

Moreover, Rosalie was different from his mother, so his ending would not be the same as that of his father.

He was confident about that.

“Then you must keep the promise you made to me tonight,” he said in a low voice, then his lips kissed her palm. “I can’t bear any consequence of your betrayal.”

Jonathan could not foretell what he would do if Rosalie broke her promise.

He thought he might destroy her while being collapsed.

The next day when Rosalie woke up, Jonathan was not in the bedroom.

She couldn’t help frowning when recalling that he urged her to promise not to betray him.

In fact, he seemed to be strong, but his sense of insecurity was more powerful than hers.

Rosalie was considering if she should express her affection for him more clearly and frequently to make him more confident when they got along with each other.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed.

Rosalie checked her timetable and got up quickly.

She almost forgot that she had made an appointment with Robin Erickson, the clinic psychologist.
