The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 294

Chapter 294

Where Loretta fell, there was a set of three steps. In an instant, she tumbled onto them, letting out a painful cry that echoed through the surroundings.

“Rosie, I was just trying to help, why did you push me like that?” Loretta feigned pain, her eyes glistening with tears, creating an image of innocence.

This unexpected turn of events grabbed the attention of the fans near the entrance, and many of them started recording the scene on their phones.

Rosalie looked at Loretta with a cold gaze and retorted, “I didn’t push you, and you know it.”

“Rosie, why say such things? I understand… You’ve only recently been released from prison, and it’s natural to feel a bit unstable. I won’t hold it against you.”

Loretta continued playing the role of the wronged little sister, all while subtly bringing up Rosalie’s past incarceration in front of the onlookers.

For the gossip-hungry fans, this unexpected drama was like a gift.

Lillian couldn’t contain her anger and exclaimed, “Loretta, you’re being despicable!”

Yet Loretta kept up the facade of a vulnerable little sister and added, “Call me whatever you want, but you’re Rosie’s friend. I just hope you can advise her not to make a big deal out of this. It was me she pushed, and I won’t hold it against her. But if she pushes someone else next time, they might not be as forgiving.”

Loretta maintained the act of a good-hearted sister.

Lillian was fuming, never having encountered someone so shameless.

Loretta’s manager, who had helped her up, asked with genuine concern, “Are you alright? Is it serious?”

Loretta bit her lip, her brows furrowing in apparent pain, and replied, “It feels like I twisted my ankle… it hurts quite a bit.” The manager then turned her anger towards Rosalie and scolded, “You’re her sister; how could you treat her this way? Is it because she’s a star and Mr. Gunner’s girlfriend? Are you jealous? You shouldn’t be so jealous…”

As the manager was speaking, her voice suddenly trailed off, and her gaze shifted past Rosalie to somewhere behind her.

Rosalie turned around to see Calvin standing at the entrance, accompanied by Callum.

“What brought these two together?” Rosalie wondered and she was momentarily shocked by their presence.

Lillian, like Rosalie, was taken aback. She felt a bit guilty and avoided making eye contact with Callum.

After all, she had told him she would be working late tonight, and here she was.

Upon spotting Lillian, Callum raised an eyebrow and flashed à sly smile.

“What a little trickster you are! You said you had to work late, and here you are,” he thought.

Compared to Callum, Calvin, on the other hand, wore an inexplicably dark expression on his face:

The manager of Loretta couldn’t help but feel Calvin’s icy stare as if he could freeze her with just a look.

But it didn’t make sense. Mr. Gunner was Loretta’s boyfriend, and she was only trying to help Loretta to get her sister due. If Calvin had any issue, it should be with Rosalie, not Loretta.

Calvin stepped forward, and before he could speak, Loretta’s manager eagerly said, “Mr. Gunner, Loretta was just trying to help her sister find Mr. Dominic Caesar, but her sister pushed her away, and she twisted her ankle

In other words, she was subtly hinting that Calvin should support Loretta in this situation..

Meanwhile, Loretta’s eyes welled up with tears as she feigned a pitiable appearance. “Calvin… please, don’t believe her,” she implored. “Rosalie… she didn’t do it on purpose. I lost my balance and fell accidentally.”

However, the more she stressed this, the more it seemed to shift the blame onto Rosalie. This portrayal made it appear as if Rosalie was being domineering while Loretta was a meek victim.

Loretta aimed to use the fans and public opinion to criticize Rosalie, making it difficult for anyone, including Jonathan, to

accuse her.

Loretta thought to herself, “After all, I am now a poor girl being bullied but still with a kind heart to forgive and speak for the persecutor.”

But Calvin’s gaze grew colder. His sharp eyes pierced Loretta, making her feel exposed and transparent as if he had read all her mind.

Despite being his girlfriend, Loretta always sensed an insurmountable gap between them. No matter how hard she tried to get closer, he never seemed willing to let her in.

Calvin’s lips parted slightly, and he uttered a cold remark, “Of course, you fell because you

lost your

balance.”

These words were like an invisible slap, stinging Loretta’s face.

In her mind, she couldn’t help but recall the night she had seen him hugging Rosalie outside the diner.

Even if Calvin didn’t know that Rosalie was the same little girl, he was still drawn to her?

“As for her,” Calvin pointed towards the manager who had been scolding Rosalie earlier, “I don’t think she needs to work here anymore.”

The manager wore a stunned expression. She wondered, “Did I just get fired by Mr. Gunner himself?”

She broke into a cold sweat, realizing that being personally named by the entertainment industry’s prince meant that her career in the field was over. No company would hire her now.

But she had been defending Loretta; she had only wanted to please her.

Desperate, she looked toward Loretta for help. However, Loretta was too preoccupied. Calvin’s icy gaze made her tremble

with fear.

Calvin turned to Rosalie and asked, “Are you alright?” His voice held a rare touch of concern.

“I’m fine,” Rosalie replied calmly. She then turned to Dominic’s assistant who was still in a daze and asked, “Can we go now?”

“Of course, of course.” The assistant quickly nodded, continuing to lead the way. Rosalie, with the guilty Lillian in tow, followed as they walked towards Dominic’s resting place.

Behind them, Loretta lowered her gaze, using it to conceal her simmering resentment.

She could not believe Calvin had defended Rosalie openly against her in front of everyone! Rosalie had nothing special about her, and Loretta was determined to ensure she had no opportunities.
