Chapter 242
“Don’t worry. I’ve arranged for someone to delete the video. It hasn’t been posted for long yet, and never again will it show up on the internet in the future.” As Jonathan said that, his fingers fell on Rosalie’s bruised cheek again.
Rosalie inhaled deeply and let out a sigh of relief.
Jonathan’s face became colder and grimmer, and he said, “I’ll get the family doctor to come over and check on you later.”
“That won’t be necessary. I will make do with an ice pack,” Rosalie said.
“I’m worried about you, and I won’t be at ease until you see a doctor.” Jonathan insisted, “So, that’s settled. Have you got any other wounds? Did those security guards in the mall lay a hand on you?”
“Fortunately, I’m not hurt,” Rosalie said casually, lest Jonathan be bothered. Then, she deliberately changed the subject, saying, “By the way, I… I’m going to visit Granny tomorrow. I planned to buy some things for her just now but didn’t get to do that in the end. How about you accompany me to the shops after dinner?”
Jonathan cast her a long, meaningful look before he uttered the word “Okay”.
Just then, someone knocked on the door of the bedroom.
Jonathan unlocked the door, and as he pushed open it, he saw the butler standing outside.
“Mr. Youngblood, people from the Hamilton family are here,” the butler reported.
With his eyes flickered in suspicion, Jonathan reiterated, “The Hamilton family?”
Upon hearing those words about the Hamilton family, Rosalie’s body stiffened, and her face turned ever paler.
“Yes, it’s Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton, as well as Ms. Yvette Hamilton,” the butler replied. “They asked to see you, Mr. Youngblood.”
“I’ll go meet them, then,” Jonathan said.
“Okay, I’ll arrange for it,” the butler responded, then he left quickly.
Jonathan returned to Rosalie and said softly, “I’m going to talk to them. Wait for me here. I’ll be back soon.”
Still frozen, Rosalie stared at him in a daze, with a hint of puzzlement in her eyes.
Once again, Jonathan’s fingers gently caressed her bruised cheek as he said, “I will seek justice for you.”
With that, Jonathan strode out of the room.
Until Jonathan’s figure disappeared from her sight, Rosalie only raised her hand and, in a trance, touched her cheek where he had just stroked.
What he had just said about seeking justice for her was like a warm stream, steadily flowing into her heart.
When Jonathan made his way downstairs, the three of the Hamilton family were already waiting in the living room.
At that moment, the high and mighty look of Howard and Sandra, when they trampled over Rosalie as if the latter were a lowly and submissive worm, was nowhere to be seen. In turn, they had turned into worms themselves.
On the other hand, as an actress, Yvette was the most skillful in disguising herself among the three. She put on a guilty look and said, “Jonathan, when my parents met Ms… Ms. Leighton at the mall today, they overreacted for a moment and somehow did something out of bounds to her. We are here to apologize to Ms. Leighton in person and ask for her forgiveness.”
It was somewhat awkward for Yvette to address Rosalie as Ms. Leighton. After all, the latter was the most disgusting, unworthy woman in her eyes. She had to swallow her pride to refer to such an inferior being with respect.
“Oh? What has she done that made you overreact?” Jonathan said with a calm demeanor. His dark, deep eyes were unreadable.
Jonathan had been well known for his unfathomable character as the local tyrant in Strico, and nobody could ever see through his mind.
“Jonathan, she… she was the murderer who killed Melanie! Isn’t that disturbing enough?” Sandra blurted out in an accusatory tone, “She had killed Melanie! How… How could you be with her? If you do that, Melanie would die in regret!”
The expression on Howard and Yvette’s faces fell in an instant as they listened to the first half of Sandra’s words. Unfortunately, Sandra had finished spitting out those words before they could stop her.
When they spotted Jonathan’s darkened face, their hearts skipped a beat, and they had a bad feeling about it.
Howard, in particular, was an old fox in the business world and an expert in reading the room.
Jonathan’s love life was not to be intervened. Not to mention he was not married to Melanie, even if they had been married back then, no one would have the right to question his current relationship.
As expected, Jonathan stared at Sandra coldly and questioned, “Well, do you think it’s your place to say anything regarding who I am with?”
Sandra shuddered for a moment and immediately snapped back to reality, realizing she had talked too much just then, stricken by frustration.
She was aware that she shouldn’t have talked about those things, but she couldn’t accept the fact that the one who killed her daughter was now with her daughter’s original fiancé.
Sandra gritted her teeth and opened her mouth again. “Jonathan, do you not care about Melanie when she loved you so much? If you are really with the murderer, Rosalie, it will only make Melanie a laughingstock in other people’s eyes!” Jonathan sneered, “Well, she is not a murderer, so stop calling her that. Melanie’s death has nothing to do with her!” When they heard what Jonathan said, Howard and Yvette both looked at him in shock.
Sandra snapped, “What do you mean it has nothing to do with her? The court had found her guilty back then!” With a half-smile, Jonathan turned his eyes toward Howard next to Sandra. “I said it has nothing to do with her. Do you get it? I don’t want to hear you call her the murderer again.”
Howard’s face turned pale in a flash, and his lips quivered for a moment.
He abruptly tugged at Sandra, who was about to say something more, and then Howard said, “Okay, we understand. Then, why don’t you ask Ms. Leighton to come out so that we can apologize for what happened today, Mr. Youngblood?”
Howard had been striving in the business world for many years, so he naturally knew when to yield.
Although the Hamilton family was also prestigious in Strico, they couldn’t compete with the top prominent families like the Youngblood family. Moreover, when Howard thought of what had happened back then, a hint of complexity flashed across his mind.
