Back then, even though Amelia was with Warren, there were no business dealings between the York family and the Youngblood family. Thus, she had never met Jonathan. However, in just two days, Amelia had seen Jonathan twice.
And both times, he was with Rosalie.
Amelia thought about Jonathan’s warning and could not help but look at Rosalie with mixed feelings. She wondered if it was a blessing or a curse for someone like Rosalie to be loved by a person like Jonathan.
Regardless, she hoped Rosalie could be happy.
“Oh, I forgot to buy some fruit. Aiden told me that he’d like to have pomegranates while in the hospital.” As Rosalie spoke, she hastily reached for her phone and was ready to head down to buy some pomegranates.
Of course, “Aiden told me,” naturally meant Aiden had communicated with Rosalie through sign language.
“There’s no need for that, Rosalie. You’ve bought toys for Aiden. I’ll buy the pomegranates later,” Amelia hurriedly said.
Rosalie replied, “It’s okay. It won’t take long. I saw a fruit vendor at the hospital entrance earlier, and they had pomegranates. I’ll be back in a while. I have to do it since I’ve promised Aiden.”
After saying that, Rosalie left the ward in a hurry.
Only Amelia, Matilda, and Jonathan were left in the ward.
Matilda had learned of Jonathan’s identity from her daughter the day before. At that moment, seeing such a big shot in the ward made her somewhat uncomfortable. Hence, she pretended to be looking at her grandson.
As for Amelia, she took the initiative to speak. “Mr. Youngblood, do you want some coffee?”
“No need,” Jonathan replied indifferently. Then his gaze fell on Aiden, who was still asleep on the bed. “Is this child yours and Warren’s?”
The simple sentence left Matilda and Amelia stunned. The former looked flustered and almost jumped out of her chair.
As for Amelia, she was much calmer than Matilda. She looked at Jonathan and asked, “Is this also something you found when you investigated me?”
“Yes, but the information I had my people check was merely a deduction based on the timeline. And…” Jonathan smiled faintly before continuing, “The most interesting part is that it seems Warren doesn’t know that he has a son.”
Amelia was at a loss for words. She pursed his lips and replied stiffly, “Aiden is just my son. From the beginning, Warren never wanted him to exist. So he and Aiden have no connection anymore. Mr. Youngblood, you promised not to interfere in the matters between Warren and me, so I hope you won’t tell anybody about Aiden.”
“Mr. Youngblood, please! I’m begging you!” Matilda, too, pleaded anxiously. She even rose to her feet, ran toward Jonathan, and looked like she was about to get down on her knees.
“Mom.” Amelia quickly stopped Matilda. She feared that her mother’s desperation might make Jonathan unhappy
“As I said, I’m not interested in your affairs with Warren. But this child… It seems like Rosalie likes him.” As Jonathan said that, he glanced again at Aiden on the hospital bed. “He’s lucky that Rosalie likes him. In a way, he’s helped himself.”
Upon hearing Jonathan’s words, Matilda was somewhat confused. However, Amelia suddenly understood everything.
She had wondered why the hospital suddenly brought in an expert for Aiden’s consultation, and they even offered such a huge discount. Moreover, the hospital had arranged a series of rehabilitation sessions, all at a very low cost. Thus, Amelia only needed to pay a small amount of money.
It was like winning the jackpot. Was it just that she and Aiden were lucky?
In fact, the real reason was perhaps Rosalie. Did she ask Jonathan for help? That was why the outcome of the whole situation. turned out great.
Right then, Rosalie returned to the ward with a bag of pomegranates.
“Okay, when Aiden wakes up and the doctor allows it, he can have some,” Rosalie said while smiling brightly.
Suddenly, Amelia’s eyes turned red as she said, “Thank you, Rosalic.”
“It’s just a bag of pomegranates,” Rosalie replied, thinking that the tears in Amelia’s eyes were because she was worried about Aiden’s condition. “Ms. Haab, Aiden’s surgery was successful. So, the next step is for him to get used to the cochlear implant. It’s not dangerous. You don’t have to worry. Everything will be fine.”
“Yes, everything will be fine.” Amelia nodded.
Amelia used to think she was Rosalie’s benefactor as she was willing to let the latter work in her diner during difficult times. But the truth was, Rosalie was her benefactor.
If it were not for Rosalie, Aiden would never receive such treatment.
When Rosalie and Jonathan left the ward, Aiden was still asleep. “I’ll come back to see him next time.” After bidding goodbye to Amelia and Matilda, Rosalie then walked to the hospital’s parking lot with Jonathan.
Just as Rosalie was about to get in the car, Jonathan suddenly reached out and pulled her into his embrace. “Give me a smile.
“What?” She was confused.
“Give me a smile, just like the one in the ward earlier,” Jonathan answered. He had mostly seen Rosalie’s shy, bashful smiles and rarely seen her radiant smile from moments ago.
At that moment, her eyes shone brightly. She was so beautiful that he could hardly look away.
“Don’t I smile at you often? Why do you suddenly want me to smile?” Rosalie asked in confusion.
Jonathan replied in a low, husky voice, “Because you smiled so beautifully, I want to see it again. Rosie, can you smile for me once more?” He sounded as if he was coaxing a child.
Rosalie could only feel the blood surge to her face. “There are surveillance cameras here!”
In other words, every move of theirs was likely being watched by someone from the other end of the surveillance cameras.
“So what if there are cameras?” His eyes gleamed with desire. “Rosie, smile one more time for me. I want to see the way you look when you smile…”
Her heart was racing once again. Rosalie looked at Jonathan blankly. His desire made her want to fulfill his wish.
Suddenly, a smile appeared on her face. It was as radiant as the summer sun. She was incredibly beautiful.
After leaving the hospital, Rosalie did not expect Jonathan to take her to the food street.
While in the car, they passed by the food street. Initially, Rosalie casually mentioned that she had missed the place because it had been long since she last visited. However, he immediately parked nearby and brought her there.
