The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 160

Chapter 160

Rosalie hurriedly fastened her seat belt and watched Jonathan drive the car away from the Youngblood residence in slight disbelief. What was more, he was currently driving in the direction of where the person on the phone had said Callum had taken Lillian earlier.

“So… he’s going to take me there?” she contemplated.

It was just that at present, his face was utterly grim, and his thin lips were pursed. A kind of gloom also filled his eyes, clearly showing his current displeasure.

Rosalie opened her mouth and wanted to say something, but she was afraid that if she spoke and upset him now, things would only get worse.

As such, she remained silent in the end.

Her priority now was to see Lillian and figure out what exactly happened.

“I’ll wait until he’s no longer so angry to… thank him. I guess,” Rosalie thought.

When the car arrived at Crescent Cove, it was immediately stopped by security guards,

“Tell Callum that Jonathan Youngblood wants to see him. Ask him if he’ll come out or not.” Jonathan went straight to the point.

Surprise flickered in those security guards’ eyes when they heard this. After all, everybody in Strico knew what the name Jonathan Youngblood” signified.

Besides, even if these security guards didn’t know Jonathan, they could still recognize the Bentley that Jonathan was currently driving. A car worth millions of dollars was certainly not affordable for ordinary people.

Therefore, one of the security guards began to contact their captain

Meanwhile, in a mansion of Crescent Cove, Lillian was glowering at the man before her with anxiety. Never had she imagined that he would pull her directly into the car in broad daylight and even confiscate her phone and turn it off.

Needless to say, Lillian could picture how anxious her best friend would be, but there was no way she could call Rosalie right

now.

At that moment, she couldn’t get to her phone at all.

Her parents also came to her mind. “Would Dad and Mom call me after seeing that I’m still not home despite it being so late? If they called and realized my phone was turned off, they’d probably be insanely worried as well,” she brooded.

Alas, while Lillian was like a cat on a hot tin roof, the man in front of her seemed to be admiring her nervousness instead.

Looking at the expression on his face, Lillian suddenly felt a little sad, for he never wore such a look when he used to face her in the past.

At that time, Callum was practically like a little puppy clinging to her, always revealing a shy, uneasy smile while scratching his head abashedly. He’d even tug the corner of her clothes cautiously like an adorable young child.

Now, after over three years of not seeing each other, she could hardly recognize him anymore. Although his face was still as good-looking as before, his temperament had totally changed, as though a little puppy had grown into a little hound.

“Uh, no! It should be a large hound instead!” she corrected herself inwardly.

“Could you return my phone to me? I really need to call my friend and parents. Once again, Lillian repeated what she had said countless times before.

However, he merely replied with a half-smile, “Are you very anxious?”

Of course, she was anxious, especially at this moment when she didn’t know when he would let her go.

“I don’t want my friend and parents to worry.”

Η

Unfortunately, her words seemed to hit a sore spot. His eyes turned cold, and a sneer appeared on his face. “Since you’re so afraid that they will worry, have you ever thought about whether I would worry back then?”

Lillian’s breath hitched, and a trace of guilt crossed her face. “I… I had something urgent to attend to back then…”

“Something urgent?” Callum snorted, “Was it to fly back here to file a lawsuit for your friend? It’s fine for you to come home, bur you

didn’t even bother to inform me about it. Or… were you simply playing games with me in the first place?” Lillian also knew that she was the one at fault. Back then, when she traveled abroad and toured the school where she would study in the future, she happened to meet him by accident.

At that time, she didn’t think about what would happen between them and naturally befriended him like one would when meeting their compatriots in a foreign country.

He would take her to visit local attractions and eat some local delicacies.

In those few days, she had a great time and also planned to come back to look for him after going home to finalize the procedures to study abroad. At that time, she could still stay abroad for four years.

However, she had always treated him as a friend, though it wasn’t as if she had never been attracted to him.

After all, his looks were seriously her cup of tea!

His stunning face had a type of feminine beauty that consisted of exquisite facial features, bronzed skin, and obsidian-like eyes. But when he looked at people frostily this way, it would make others’ hearts flutter a little.

Such a man was basically a weapon of great power for women!

Lillian commented to herself, “Back then, didn’t I almost fall for him as well? Fortunately, I restrained myself in time, calmed my racing heart, and didn’t make a move.”

After all, she hadn’t considered getting into a long-distance relationship. She knew that he had grown up abroad since childhood, whereas she was an only child with conservative parents. It went without saying that they would never allow her to marry and relocate overseas permanently.

Moreover, at that time, Callum was rather enthusiastic and clingy toward her, so she assumed that his personality had been influenced by the culture abroad and that he was just naturally passionate and hospitable.

But now that she studied the man before her, it seemed like her guess had been totally wrong.

Most importantly, he was so attractive that she had no other thoughts except for her pounding heart. It was akin to how one might appreciate some good-looking celebrities, but it didn’t necessarily mean one would consider spending the rest of one’s life with them or even having their children.

After all, the other party might not like one at all. Even if they did, one had to be really capable in order to keep such an outstanding person!

Even though Lillian admitted that she was also a sucker for good looks, she typically only looked and never had unnecessary ideas.

“It wasn’t really… playing games.” Lillian licked her lips and couldn’t help but defend herself. “Besides, I was the one who was at a disadvantage!”

“Is that so?” He stood up, closed in on the chair she was sitting in, and bent down, staring straight at her with his dark eyes.

enroll in “You slept with me for a night, then left without saying a word the next day. You even told me you were gonna Musbane University when, in reality, you never did! You played me like a fool with all your lies, yet now, you’re saying you’re the one who was at a disadvantage?
