The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 154

Chapter 154

The temperature in the expansive room plummeted at night, turning as frigid as ice and sending chills down one’s spine! As soon as Loretta got home, she heard the news that her mother had been expelled from the company and that her father had been demoted to an ordinary employee directly from his supervisor in the company!

“How is that possible?” Loretta was shocked. After all, both of her parents worked in the public sector. As long as someone didn’t make any mistakes, there was no risk of demotion or expulsion.

Furthermore, she was now Calvin’s girlfriend! Even if the supervisor genuinely contemplated expelling or demoting her parents, they would have to think twice about their decisions.

“Didn’t you tell the leader that I am Calvin’s girlfriend now?” Loretta said.

“We did inform them. How could we have possibly omitted this?” Caitlin was visibly irritated at the thought. She had explicitly informed her supervisor that her daughter was in a relationship with the scion of an entertainment industry mogul! In the future, she would be marrying into a wealthy family.

However, her supervisor ignored her completely and said. ‘No matter who your daughter’s boyfriend is, you must leave today without negotiation!”

She was so angry.

But to her surprise, there was even more anger to come! She had been proudly showcasing her daughter to her colleagues lately. Yet, when she was fired and packing her belongings, those colleagues who had flattered her before now were rubbing salt into her wound, one after another.

One of her colleagues, who had often been belittled by her, suddenly approached and said, “Hey, Caitlin, isn’t your daughter dating Calvin? Even if you lose your job, your daughter can probably take care of you! Although, I’m not sure for how long. I’ve heard that Calvin goes through girlfriends quite frequently. If every one of them were to marry into a prominent. family, how many wives would Calvin have by now?”

Then, several colleagues chimed in condescendingly and pretended to offer helpful suggestions.

“That’s right, Caitlin. Ask your daughter to get as much money as she can now. Maybe in a few months, she won’t have the chance anymore.”

“It’s not that simple to marry a wealthy and influential man. Plus, your daughter isn’t a socialite. The wealthier the man, the more he tends to scrutinize his partner’s family background.”

Caitlin was well aware that these individuals weren’t offering genuine suggestions but rather mocking her! She had been boasting excessively in the past, and now, how could she expect her colleagues not to rub her face in it?

“Then, when Calvin marries you, I’ll return and let them see if I can become Calvin’s mother-in-law! I’d love to hear what they’ll have to say then!” Caitlin said to Loretta with frustration.

However, Loretta couldn’t shake her feelings of guilt. In the past, she would likely have supported her mother’s words. But now, she wasn’t so sure at all.

These days, every time Calvin came to her, he would ask her to tell him something about Rosalie. He didn’t seem to be interested in other topics at all.

She racked her brain to think about various aspects related to Rosalie, to the point where she had almost concocted some fabricated stories.

She didn’t understand why Calvin had a crush on Rosalie. “Isn’t she just a sanitary worker who swept the streets? What’s there to know about?” she thought.

At that moment, Gordon inquired, “What’s happening with our family? Have we somehow offended someone? Why is misfortune striking our careers simultaneously?”

Loretta suddenly shivered and said with a pale face, “Is it because of Rosie? Dad burned the album that day. Did she complain to Jonathan? Maybe that’s why he struck a move at us?”

The more she dwelled on it, the more convinced she became that it was a plausible explanation. After all, ordinary people wouldn’t be so concerned about whether or not she was dating Calvin.

Gordon’s expression shifted drastically, and he erupted in anger. “This ungrateful daughter was imprisoned in the past, and now she’s attempting to harm our family once more!”

He had leveraged numerous connections and invested a substantial amount of money to ascend to the position of director.

Now, as an ordinary employee, he couldn’t come to terms with this change in status.

Caitlin was also furious. She looked as if she wanted to rush out and tear Rosalie apart.

‘Dad, Mom, don’t act recklessly, Jonathan is supporting Rosie nów. We should take this into consideration even if we want to do something to her,” Loretta advised. After all, she had suffered a lot because of Rosalie before.

Gordon and Caitlin conceded after hearing Loretta’s advice. They said. “What should we do now? Do we just swallow the bitter pill?”

“Let me think about it,” Loretta said. “I have to think about how to deal with Rosalie. I can’t let her occupy an increasingly important position in Calvin’s heart anymore,” she thought.

In that case, even if Jonathan kicked Rosalie out in the future, Rosalie would replace Loretta and become Calvin’s new girlfriend!

She couldn’t let this happen!

Lillian asked Rosalie out again and gave her the information she got from her colleagues, including the full name of the witness, current address, occupation, and even the names of his family.

There was also information indicating that the witness had altered his name. While he hadn’t changed his last name and still went by Concord, his first name had been modified.

“Furthermore, when your case occurred, he was just an average clerk who was dating a girlfriend but had to break up due to financial constraints, especially the inability to afford a house. But shortly after your case concluded, he changed his name and left Strico. He purchased a commercial property in Sloumont and paid the entire sum, amounting to 1 million dollars!” Lillian restated the information she had uncovered and added with a scoff, “Unless he won the lottery, how on earth could he suddenly come up with that much money to purchase property?”

“How did you acquire this information? Did you ask a colleague?” Rosalie was somewhat puzzled. After all, based on this information, there were details that wouldn’t typically surface in casual conversations.

Some of them were quite private.

“I got a general picture from my colleague, and then I gave the basic information to the private detective who helped me investigate it,” Lillian said.

“A private detective?” Rosalie was stunned. It seemed that Lillian had always been so concerned about her. “Then the cost…” “At this time, you still need to talk about cost with me?” Lillian glared at her best friend and said, “The most important thing now is to find out the truth about your case. As for this expense, don’t mention it.”

“But the cost…”

“You were not the kind of person who cared about this back then.”

As Lillian spoke, Rosalie wore a bitter smile. Yes, she hadn’t given much thought to money back then. Sometimes, when they were enjoying themselves together, she didn’t care whether she or someone else spent more. However, the situation was different now.
