The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 148

Chapter 148

However, Rosalie was certain that Jonathan had seen a lot of cute people. She wondered if her childhood photo was cute enough for him to ask for one from her.

However, at that moment, the most important thing for her was to meet Lillian.

As she was about to leave, Jonathan asked the driver to take her there.

Based on past experience, she knew that refusing was useless. Once he decided on something, there was really no room for negotiation.

After getting in the car, Rosalie told the driver her destination.

In the end, she arrived half an hour earlier than expected for a journey that was supposed to take an hour.

Rosalie made her way to a fast food joint, took a seat, ordered a drink for 1 dollar and 20 cents, and then messaged Lillian.

While waiting for Lillian, Rosalie was bored, so she looked through the transparent floor-to-ceiling windows and watched as delivery riders came in and out of the restaurant from time to time, carrying takeout orders.

Thinking of takeout, Rosalie suddenly had an idea. Even though her driver’s license had been revoked, she could still ride an electric scooter. Furthermore, working as a delivery rider was a commission-based job. Despite the fact that there was no set salary, the more deliveries she made, the more she would earn.

If she could get a job despite her criminal history, becoming a delivery rider might be a decent choice for her.

After all, if she took a leave of absence from the Environment and Sanitation Administration, Yulissa would have more work to do. It would mean she was shifting her own workload to others.

Moreover, the Environment and Sanitation Administration had a fixed salary, and now she had to cover a quarter of her grandmother’s medical expenses. She was in desperate need of money at the time.

“What are you thinking about?” Lillian’s voice suddenly sounded in her cars.

Rosalie snapped out of her thoughts and looked at her friend, who had already arrived. Im thinking about whether to become a delivery rider,” she replied.

Lillian was taken aback. “You want to do food delivery? It is a difficult job, and you are more likely to receive complaints. Few women choose to be delivery riders, and your physical strength may be insufficient.”

It was typically a male-dominated occupation.

“But at least I will not be a burden to others. Whether I do well or not, it is my own business. Unlike in the Environment and Sanitation Administration, where if I go on leave, someone else must do my job, Rosalie explained.

“That’s true,” Lillian said. Then, as if she remembered something, she asked, “By the way, why did you arrive so early today? Did you take a leave from work?”

e remembered that Rosalie’s shift at the Environment and Sanitation Administration was supposed to end later than hers.

“Yes, I took a few days off because I hurt my hand. Because of that, I decided I might as well think about switching jobs,” Rosalie answered.

Only then did Lillian notice that Rosalie’s fingers were wrapped in bandages. Concerned, she asked, “What happened to your hand? Did something happen?”

Rosalie didn’t keep it from her friend and briefly explained what had happened the previous night.

After hearing Rosalie’s explanation, Lillian clenched her teeth in anger. “How could your father burn that photo album when he knew how much it meant to you? Even if he did want to favor Loretta, he should not have treated you this way.” Rosalie could not help but laugh bitterly. “Lillian, that’s exactly how my father treats me, she remarked inwardly.

In comparison to the previous night, when she had a breakdown, she was now feeling more detached. She had already come to terms with the fact that her father no longer loved her, let alone showed her any type of familial affection.

-Otherwise, when she was in prison, her father would have visited her at least once.

“Are your hands okay?” Lillian asked with concern.

“It is all right. Because of the bandages, it appears even worse than it is. I am not in too much pain today, and I can even pick up things on my own now,” Rosalie said.

Relieved, Lillian ordered some food for herself.

As they continued their meal, Rosalie learned about the discovery of the witness mentioned during their phone call. It Turned out that one of Lillian’s colleagues at her design institute had posted a video in their group chat. In that video, Lillian identified the witness who had testified during Rosalie’s trial back then.

The witness was the husband of Lillian’s colleague’s relative, and he was currently residing in Sloummont.

To be safe, Lillian asked for the person’s name casually. However, her colleague did not know the person’s name. All they knew was that his last name was “Concord.”

Lillian was even more convinced because his surname, Concord, was unusual.

However, just in case, Lillian still showed Rosalie the video.

It was a video of a home wedding, full of joy and laughter. Rosalie’s eyes were fixed on the groom in the video.

The groom’s face was filled with happiness as he participated in various activities amid the cheers of the people around him.

It seemed like an ordinary video of a joyous occasion, but the only unusual thing was the groom himself.

Rosalie stared at the face, her heart racing with fear. She could still vividly remember that man, the one who had pointed a cold finger at her in the courtroom, falsely claiming that he had seen her drinking and had made an effort to dissuade her from driving. He also claimed that she had ignored his advice and insisted on driving the car.

But in reality, everything he said never happened.

She had no connection to him, and the only thing she knew about him was that they had dined at the same restaurant. He was sitting at the table next to hers.

She still couldn’t understand why he had said those things in court. “Did someone force him to testify against me? Was someone determined to frame me for the crime?” she wondered.

However, because the witnesses had no personal stake in the outcome of the case, the judge found their testimony more credible, particularly when there were multiple witnesses.

“Is it him?” Lillian asked.

“Yeah, it’s probably him. Do you think you can find out where he is now?” Rosalie asked.

“There shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll ask my colleague later. So, are you going to Sloummont to find him?” Lillian inquired.

“At the very least, I want to gather some basic information before deciding. All the witnesses from back then seem to have disappeared, and he’s the only lead we have, Rosalie uttered

Lillian understood her concerns Rosalie was concerned that their only lead would also vanish in the end.

Rosalie’s car accident was too suspicious, and with so many witnesses accusing her, it seemed like there was a mastermind plotting against her.

“Sounds like a plan. Let’s gather information first, Lillian agreed

As they continued their conversation, Rosalie suddenly noticed something and raised her head. A car parked nearby had its window open, and a man inside was staring in their direction.
