Riley looked at Zephyr coldly and said slowly, “Yes.”
Her simple answer made Zephyr break down.
He looked at her in a daze and didn’t even know when he had released his grip on her.
Until Riley left the ward, Zephyr was standing still like a sculpture, looking at his hand blankly.
He could still feel her temperature in his palm, but he could never get close to her, no matter how hard he tried.
Riley ordered porridge and dried fruits at the concession stand in the hospital, and then she directly had them at the small table at the concession stand.
After finishing them, Riley didn’t go back to her ward directly but came to Hendrick’s ward.
Because of the blood transfusion, Hendrick was living in a sterile ward again. So Riley could only look at her son through the glass.
The nurse told Riley that Hendrick was in good condition now. As for how much effect her blood could have on Hendrick, it would take a few days to know the result.
Riley didn’t care whether Hendrick would finally accept her or not. Sh would be satisfied as long as she knew that her child was alive and wou have a bright future.
After a long time, Riley was about to turn around when she found Zephyr standing behind her.
“When Hendrick gets better, I will tell him that you are his biological mother,” Zephyr said.
“It doesn’t matter. Even if you don’t tell him, it will be fine. As long as he knows in the future that Harriet is not his biological mother, it will be enough.” Even if Riley didn’t care about her title, she didn’t want her child to recognize a woman who hurt her as his biological mother.
“I won’t let Hendrick regard Harriet as his biological mother. When he grows older and has the ability to make his own judgments, I will tell him all the crimes that Harriet has committed. And I can also help you get all the shares that Harriet has taken,” Zephyr said.
However, Riley’s expression still remained unchanged when she heard those words. “I will find a way to get back the shares that have been taken away by Harriet. As for how you will tell Hendrick about what Harriet has done, it’s your business and has nothing to do with me. You don’t need to explain anything to me,” Riley said.
After saying that, she bypassed Zephyr and was about to go back to her ward.
“Riley!” Zephyr shouted behind her. “Do you have to do this? Do you really want me to stay away from you?”
Riley paused for a moment and turned to look at Zephyr, saying, “Stop chasing after me. I refuse you because you have rejected me first. Mr. Scott, wasn’t it you who rejected me in the past? Don’t you think it’s ridiculous to accuse me now?”
At that moment, Zephyr felt like he was choked by something and couldn’t say a word.
The next day, when Riley was discharged from the hospital, she went to see Hendrick again. He had already been awake, but there was a tube in his nasal cavity and he had an infusion on the bed.
Riley could only look at Hendrick in the sterile ward through the glass.
Hendrick also saw Riley and pouted at her, which made Riley sm matter whether Hendrick still hated Riley now or not, she hoped blood could help him and he could grow up healthy.
Riley walked out of the hospital and took a taxi at the gate. Behind figure slowly came out and watched the cab carrying Riley gradually drive away.
Zephyr smiled bitterly. He didn’t do anything in the past but just watched aside coldly.
And now he wanted to do something, but Riley was reluctant to accept his kindness. Now Hendrick was the only bond which connected them.
Two days later, Wyatt received an invitation from Zephyr. He was a little surprised, but since they were in Lommore and had some business contacts, Wyatt couldn’t refuse Zephyr.
However, Zephyr’s sudden invitation made Wyatt a little curious.
They would meet at a high-end restaurant in Lommore. When Wyatt arrived there, Zephyr had already been waiting for him. The dishes had been served on the table.
“Did you ask me out today just for a meal?” Wyatt raised his eyebrow and asked.
“I asked you out to thank you. Thank you for saving Riley,” Zephyr said.
Hearing this, Wyatt was surprised and said, “You don’t have to thank me. I just want to repay someone else’s kindness. If you really want to thank someone, why not thank the Youngblood family in Strico and Calvin? And Amelia. She’s a good friend of Riley’s. They were the people who really helped Riley!”
Zephyr said bitterly, “I will. I’ll thank them in the future for helping Riley!”
As Zephyr spoke, he poured wine into his glass and Wyatt’s glass. Then he continued, “But anyway, I want to thank you. If it hadn’t been for you, Riley would have suffered longer. Thanks!”
Zephyr raised his glass and drank the wine. Then he drank another two glasses of wine.
Wyatt also picked up his glass and drank the wine.
“It seems that your son’s mother should be Riley,” Wyatt said. Although there was no news about who was Hendrick’s biological mother, it was not difficult for Wyatt to guess the truth.
“Yeah, it’s Riley.” Zephyr laughed at himself and continued, “I didn’t know it until now. It’s so ridiculous. What’s more ridiculous is that I found out that I was the one who had been kept in the dark all the time. What I believed before was wrong!”
“It’s better to find out that you have been deceived now than never, isn’t it?” Wyatt said.
Zephyr smiled bitterly. For a moment, he didn’t know which result was better.
“Can you tell me what happened to Riley when you saved her? Tell me what you know,” Zephyr said. Now he only knew the statements in the court. Except for that, he didn’t know anything that happened to Riley at all.
If Zephyr had been to the psychiatric hospital and visited Riley once in the past few years, maybe things would not have ended up like this.
“What’s the point of knowing everything now? It will just make you blame yourself more,” Wyatt said. “There are some things you’d better not know.”
“But I want to know everything. I know that knowing those things will only make me more painful, but she has suffered all the pain. I didn’t protect and save her, so now I deserve to suffer the pain!” Zephyr said firmly.
Wyatt sighed and finally told Zephyr the things he knew.
