Chapter 1264
“Since it had been so many years, it would take some effort to find that person. Besides, if the person really needed to be convicted, it may not be enough just relying on all this evidence!” Riley thought.
Just as she was thinking, a car suddenly stopped before Riley, and Zephyr appeared in the sight of Riley.
Riley looked at. Zephyr vigilantly and took a step back subconsciously.
Zephyr narrowed his eyes slightly. “Are you afraid of me?”
“I’m not afraid but disgusted,” Riley replied. People would not get close to but subconsciously keep a distance from someone when they hated the person. They would even feel uncomfortable taking another look at that person.
Her words immediately made Zephyr’s face look unpleasant.
“Disgust…” mused Zephyr. When the word came out of her mouth, it sounded so harsh.
He remembered she had once said to him in a sweet voice, “Zephyr, I probably won’t hate you in this life.”
“But now, she just said she is disgusted by me…” Zephyr thought ironically.
“Are you disgusted by me?” He stepped up and approached her.
She sneered and said coldly, “Shouldn’t I disgusted by you? If possible, I hope you will never show up in front of me again. I don’t want to see you at all!”
There was an inexplicable anger rising in his heart. He was unsure how many years had he not been so angry. Since she was sent to a psychiatric hospital and he deliberately did not ask about her information, he had never been so furious afterward.
His anger exploded in his chest instantly, which surprised him.”
“Riley, you’d better not say that again!” he warned coldly.
“Zephyr, who do you think you are? I don’t need to listen to you. Besides, if you don’t show up in front of me, you won’t be able to hear my words!” After saying that, she directly bypassed him and wanted to walk toward the nearby subway station.
But before she could take a second step, her wrist was grasped by the man. The next moment, Zephyr dragged her toward his car.
“Zephyr, what are you doing? Let go of me!” she shouted and resisted with all her strength.
However, her resistance seemed ineffective on him.
In just a moment, he had already dragged her into the car. Then, the car started to move forward after the door closed with a bang and his faint command, “Drive.”
Riley suddenly stopped all her struggles. She knew it was useless to struggle again, as she had gotten into the car. The top priority was to find out what his purpose was.
“Zephyr, what exactly do you want to do? Why don’t you just say it out to save my guessing?” Riley asked calmly.
He stared at her and said, “I thought you would make a scene now to let you get out of the car.”
“Will it be useful to do so? Why should I waste my strength if it doesn’t work?” she said indifferently.
“You are different from before. In the past, you will always try it even if it’s useless.”
She said with mockery, “That’s because you haven’t been locked up in a psychiatric hospital before. If you ever experience that, you will know that doing something useless will only hurt yourself more.”
His expression changed slightly.
She twisted her wrist and tried to pull her hand out of his fingers.
However, his fingers were clenching her so tight that she could not break free.
“Didn’t you say there is no need to waste your strength on useless things? Then why do you do it now?” he asked mockingly.
“Because it’s unbearable.” She gave him such an answer. “I feel unbearable to be held by you like this.” She could feel that every cell of her body was signaling her to leave and showing great disgust about him.
He frowned and clenched her hand a little tighter. “Then you can continue to bear it like this. It’s useless for you to struggle again if I don’t intend to let go of you.”
She only felt a burst of pain in her hand held by him, but at that moment, she was stubborn and unwilling to shout out the pain.
She turned her head away and looked out of the car window. The streets in Lommore were still bright and dazzling at night.
Zephyr held her hand tightly, which could make people think mistakenly they were intimate. But only she knew how much strength she needed to spend to control the trembling of her body and suppress the disgusting feeling.
When the car finally stopped, only then she found that Zephyr had taken her to the gate of the Summer residence.
The driver in the front row got out of the car, and only Riley and Zephyr were left inside.
Riley looked at the gate of the Summer residence. She remembered the door used to be crowded with reporters. But since the three people of the Summer family were detained, there were fewer and fewer reporters at the door, and they disappeared eventually.
At present, the Summer residence’s door was empty and quiet. The manor was also dark at a glance.
“Didn’t you always want the Summer residence? As long as you let Harriet go, I will ask her to return the shares that belonged to you. Even if you want one finger of Harriet, I won’t stop you. I can even ask the Summer family to transfer this old manor to your name. You won’t suffer any losses in this deal!” said Zephyr.
At that moment, Riley finally understood Zephyr’s intention. It was the second time he had asked her to let go of Harriet.
“I remember I said I wouldn’t let her go last time. I won’t let anyone who ruined me and sent me to the psychiatric hospital back then get away with it!” she refused.
“No matter what, she is your sister. Besides, didn’t you want to get control of the Summer family? Now I can give the right to you!”
Riley suddenly laughed. “You give the right to me? What you said is like a robber taking everything from the victim and then telling the victim that he can give her back part of it as if it’s the greatest gift for her. But all these things originally belonged to the victim. Why should she take back her belongings as if she is benefited?” she questioned him, and his expression was getting more gloomy.
“In other words, you don’t want to let Harriet go, do you?” he asked in a deep voice.
“Yes,” she answered without hesitation.
“So, are you going to be my enemy completely?” He stared at her coldly.
“You and I are already enemies.” They were already enemies when he ignored Harriet to possess her shares, watched the Summer family send her to a psychiatric hospital, and let her struggle there painfully.
“Riley, don’t regret it,” said Zephyr.
She smiled again and looked at him coldly. “Zephyr, the most regretful thing in my life was being with you and listening to your nonsense back then!”
