The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 1230

Chapter 1230

“Then when will Riley’s diagnosis be released?” Amelia asked hurriedly.

“At the least, one more hour. Well, don’t overthink, and rest early. You’re pregnant and got to take care of yourself,” Rosalie replied.

Although that was how she comforted Amelia, there was evident concern and solemnness on Rosalie’s face when she hung up the phone.

According to what they knew, many police officers, including the senior management of the police station in Lommore, tagged along this time.

And they were not on the advantageous side of this matter. Harriet was the legal guardian of Riley in the Summer family. If the Summer family found Riley, they had the right to stop the diagnosis tests and leave with Riley.

They had to buy another hour of time.

Even if Jonathan and Calvin sent the bodyguards around them to stop the police and delay their time for various reasons, Rosalie wondered if they could really buy time for another hour.

Rosalie remained silent. Even though Jonathan and Calvin were quiet, too, it seemed like they were tense and on edge judging by the expression on their faces.

After all, Lommore was not Strico. Hence, it was difficult for Jonathan and Calvin to work magic in this place.

On the other side, Amelia said to Warren, “I want to go there. Can yo drive me there?”

“It’s late already. It’s inconvenient for you to go there, and Rosalie also told you to rest,” Warren voiced.

“But Riley…”

“Is Riley so important that you ignore your and the baby’s wellbeing? Rosalie and the others are already there, and my subordinates are still following the Summer family. If the Summer family could still locate Riley that way and bring her away, then it’s useless for you to show up there, too. You can’t do anything even if you head over.”

Amelia’s face paled. After hesitating, she turned around and picked up her wallet. Then she put on a coat and walked toward the hotel room door.

Warren suddenly grabbed her. “You still insist on going even after I’ve explained the situation to you?”

“I must go. Riley is my friend. Moreover, Rosalie is still there, trying to help Riley even though she doesn’t know her, so how can I stand by and watch?”

“What help can you offer even if you show up?” Warren shouted.

“I can protect Riley. The more people around her, the longer we can delay the time.” Amelia answered.

“Don’t forget how you insisted on keeping the baby back then. Now, you are willing to sacrifice the baby for Riley? Conflicts are bound to arise over there. No one can tell for sure what will happen if you head there. I won’t forgive you if anything happens to the baby!” Warren stated coldly.

“Warren, you’ve never been controlled by anyone. You haven’t been locked up in any place, lost your freedom in life, and experienced those pains and suffering. So, you won’t understand that feeling or how grateful you would be if someone helped you and gave you the hope to survive under such circumstances!”

Amelia’s voice was like a thunderbolt, striking Warren where it hurt.

She didn’t blame Warren for what happened back then, but her words sounded like Amelia’s accusation toward him. How she looked at him made him feel an indescribable embarrassment.

Warren unconsciously released his grip on Amelia while Amelia left hotel room quickly.

After a while, Warren regained his senses, chasing after Amelia. But al saw was Amelia leaving in a taxi.

Warren mused, “This woman… Doesn’t she know how dangerous it is fo her to go about this alone?”

When the pregnant Amelia alighted from the taxi, Warren’s car also arrived at the same time.

Warren got out of the car and immediately rushed forward, grabbing Amelia.

“Let go of me. The Summer family has already arrived. I have to hurry over!” Amelia voiced hurriedly.

“Even if you go there, what’s the use of it? Can you really delay the time for one more minute?” Warren asked.

“No, I can delay it longer. I informed the news outlet while I was in the taxi just now. I will cause a scene, and…” Amelia paused, “I will also bear all responsibility. You don’t have to head in with me to avoid the media from pointing their fingers at you. As for Rosalie and the rest, if Riley’s diagnosis report confirmed that she was indeed a mentally ill person, then the story goes this way. Rosalie and the rest were blinded because I deceived them into helping me.”

Warren was stunned by Amelia’s words.

He didn’t expect Amelia, who seemed unable to help in this situation, to make such a decision.

Warren mused, “I wonder what she felt when she went all out in making the calls to enlist the help of news outlets in causing a scene when she was in the car just now?”

If the final result showed that Riley was indeed a mentally ill person, then Amelia would shoulder all the blame herself. By then, she would be

mocked for believing in a mentally ill patient while dragging her innocent friends who trusted her into this mess.

Warren thought, “Amelia wants to be responsible for this matter. That way, she would be deemed the culprit for everything that went down. Everyone would scold and blame her then while the rest involved in thi matter would come out relatively unscathed.”

Warren pursed his lips. After a few moments, he stated, “Don’t forget t we are husband and wife!”

“I’ll say that you were kept in the dark about everything. I’m the one solely responsible for everything, and you came to Lommore to accompany me in visiting a friend. You didn’t know that I would do something like that.” said Amelia.

Warren felt a mix of emotions. He wondered whether Amelia was trying to protect him.

“Since when do I need a woman to protect me?” Warren thought.

He had already anticipated being dragged into this matter when he accompanied Amelia to Lommore.

“Let’s go.” Warren suddenly replied.

“What?” Amelia was stunned momentarily.

“Aren’t you going to stall for time? Then let’s head in. Your effort will be futile if we are late. I’ll go in with you. But promise me, you must hold my hand and stay by my side,” said Warren.

Amelia was stunned and couldn’t believe what she heard. “But if you go in with me, doesn’t that mean you are also…”

“Do you think I can still stay out of this by now? Instead of wondering what this means to me, why don’t you pray harder that Riley isn’t a mentally ill patient?”
