Chapter 1220
After the kiss came to an end, Amelia abruptly lifted her hand and slapped Warren across the face. “If you have no feelings for me, then stop doing this!”
“What? Don’t you like it? But don’t forget that we are still a couple now. Even if I really did it with you, it’s only natural! Remember the conditions of your request that I agreed to,” he replied.
His voice, filled with anger, gradually subsided as he noticed the tears welling up in her eyes.
It wasn’t the first time she had slapped him. He was the powerful chairman of York Group, and no one else dared to confront him in such a way. However, seeing the tears in her eyes immediately quenched the flames of his anger.
It felt like there was a heavy weight pressing on his chest, leaving him slightly breathless.
The next moment, she abruptly pushed him away, took a deep breath, and spoke calmly. “Mr. York, I’m well aware that you have no feelings for me now, so I have no intention of flirting with you. If my previous out-of-control behavior caused you any discomfort, I assure you it won’t happen again in the future.”
His thin lips pressed into a straight line, and he couldn’t help but wond why he felt a sense of discomfort when he heard what she said and me her cold gaze.
It felt like he was losing something dear to him.
When Rosalie went to pick up her daughter from the Serton residence, she learned from Wyatt that Riley had been transferred by the Summer family.
“When?” Rosalie was shocked.
“Yesterday. I only found out about it ten minutes ago. I was going to call you and inform you about it. Looks like the Summer family is also becoming alert,” said Wyatt.
Rosalie asked, “Then do you know where Riley was transferred to?”
Wyatt responded, “We’ll still need to do some investigations. I’m afraid we won’t find out that soon.”
Rosalie knew it was useless to panic at that moment and that everything hinged on discovering where the Summer family relocated Riley.
“Mr. Serton, could you please help me investigate whether there have been any financial transactions between Riley’s attending physician and the Summer family?” Rosalie asked.
“No problem,” Wyatt said.
Rosalie and Jonathan then prepared to leave with their daughter. Jennifer appeared reluctant to leave.
“Mommy, can I stay in Lommore for a few more days? Felix mentioned all these fascinating places, and I haven’t had a chance to explore them yet!” Jennifer pleaded.
“Tomorrow is Monday, and you have kindergarten. You can visit Lommore and play with Felix during the winter vacation,” Rosalie said.
“But winter vacation is so far off, and I want to spend a few more days playing with Felix. There’s so much I want to talk to him about!” the little girl protested with a sullen expression.
“Then let’s extend our stay for a few more days,” Jonathan suddenly suggested.
Jennifer’s young face lit up with surprise, while Rosalie appeared ta aback. “How many more days are we going to stay here?” she asked.
Jonathan said, “Jen wants to stay in Lommore for a few more days, doesn’t she? Since that’s what she wants, we should go along with her wishes. I’ll give Gary a call and have him request a leave from the kindergarten later.”
“But what about your job?” Rosalie said.
“I can manage conference calls for the time being, and for the other documents, I can have them faxed over and work on them on my computer. It won’t be a problem for a short while. Since the Summer family is already aware, why not seize this opportunity to address Riley’s situation as quickly as possible and return to Strico early? I don’t want you to stay in Lommore all the time,” Jonathan suggested.
Rosalie was initially surprised but quickly realized that the true reason Jonathan wanted to stay in Lommore wasn’t solely because of their daughter’s desire to extend their stay but because of her.
“But what if addressing Riley’s issue takes longer than expected? After all, we’re still not sure about where she was transferred.” She voiced her concern.
“Within three days at most, we’ll definitely find Riley,” Jonathan assured.
“How is that possible? Wyatt mentioned that it might take a while to find Riley’s whereabouts,” Rosalie pointed out.
With determination, Jonathan asserted, “We might not make quick progress if it’s only the Serton family searching, but with our combined efforts, we’ll find her within three days, unless the Summer family has already relocated Riley out of Lommore. I’ll leave no stone unturned in Lommore in these three days.”
When they got back to the hotel, Jonathan took care of the two kids while Rosalie went to Amelia’s room next door.
However, when she saw Amelia, she found the latter’s eyes red.
“What’s the matter? Are you not feeling well?” Rosalie asked, concerned.
“No, I’m fine,” Amelia said.
“By the way, where is Warren?” Rosalie looked around the room and didn’t see Warren.
“He has something to attend to,” Amelia replied, choosing no to Rosalie that Warren had left the room after she slapped hi
close
“I went to the Serton residence just now. Wyatt said that Riley.. told Amelia what she had heard at the Serton residence today, a she would try her best to find out where Riley was transferred w three days.
Amelia remained unsettled. “Do you think the Summer family mig harm Riley?” She expressed concern that Riley could be in danger, especially since the latter was currently unable to protect herself.
“At least not immediately,” Rosalie said, “They’re probably telling the public they’re transferring Riley to another hospital so that she can get better treatment, hoping to make us, who had visited Riley before, hit a brick wall.”
In their opinion, the key was to delay the matter for a while, hoping that
it would be pushed aside temporarily.
Upon hearing this, Amelia let out a sigh of relief and gazed at Rosalie with gratitude. “Thank you for your help. Even though I came here, it feels like I’ve been stuck in the hotel most of the time, unable to do
much…”
“Just focus on taking care of your baby and waiting for updates,” Rosalie advised. “And remember, it’s not just me. Even though Warren didn’t mention it, he’s been helping you as well. Without his help, we wouldn’t have gained easy access to the hospital and seen Riley.”
Amelia’s mood darkened at the mention of Warren’s name.
– “Did something happen between you and Warren?” Rosalie asked, noticing something off.
Amelia pursed her lips and managed a forced smile. “No, nothing happened between him and me. In fact, I should be thankful that nothing happened. Now he won’t invest his feelings in me anymore. It’s exactly what I wanted, isn’t it?”
