The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike Chapter 1157

Chapter 1157

“You… don’t blame me?” she murmured.

“There’s nothing to blame,” Amelia said. “I know you did it for the sake of your son’s safety. My goal is the same as yours. Goodbye, Mrs. York.”

Amelia walked away.

As Lydia said, Warren loved her too much. He would pay little regard to his health and draw his own blood even if she had the slightest chance of ischemia during delivery, not to mention other instances.

Although the five-year recovery period for her liver transplant had passed, no one could be sure what would happen to the organ during the birth. No one could even be certain how many more years she had to live.

At the moment, she was only dragging this tattered vessel day after day. There was no guarantee how much longer she could hold on.

In that case, it would be better to end the relationship thoroughly then and there!

Amelia walked out of the hospital step by step. However, when she arrived at the exit, she found that she was already in tears.

She realized that she would be hurt just as badly if she really wanted to break up with him.

Perhaps her feelings for him were not as shallow as she thought. Her love for him had deepened as the days passed.

When Rosalie saw Amelia appearing at her law firm, she was surprised.

Although she had given Amelia the address of the firm in the past, the latter had only made her first visit then.

“Amelia, w-what’s wrong? What happened?” Rosalie asked anxiously. Amelia’s eyes had reddened and her face was wet with tears. She seemed to be in a trance.

It was only then that Amelia’s gaze slowly came into focus. “Rose, can you… get me a quiet room and let me stay there for a while?”:

Rosalie quickly responded, “Okay, come to my office. No one will disturb you there.”

With that, Rosalie took Amelia to her office. She then poured a glass of warm water for the woman. “Amelia, what happened?”

Amelia held the glass of warm water in her hand as she fixed her eyes on it. After some time, she said, her voice choking, “Warren and I have completely separated.”

Rosalie was surprised. “But not long ago, you were still considering whether to be with Warren or not. Has he… done something?”

“No, he didn’t do anything.” Amelia interrupted, “I don’t want to be with him. I have thought about it carefully. My feelings for him are not so deep after all. Maybe I entertained the idea before… due to an impulse triggered by a touching moment. Besides, I don’t know how long my body can last.”

“Amelia, if it is your health you are concerned about… Well, no one can tell what will happen in the future, right? As the saying goes, you never know which will come first, tomorrow or the end of your life. So, isn’t seizing the day the most important thing you can do?” Rosalie suggested.

“I understand that, but… I couldn’t bear Warren’s feelings for me. Rosie… staying apart is the best arrangement for us, but I still…” Amelia couldn’t help sobbing.

She made this decision on her own free well, but she still felt unbearable. On the way to the office, she had already shed a lot of tears, and yet she felt like crying again.

“Amelia, that’s because you… are actually still in love with Warren. So, when you decide to split up, you still feel upset,” Rosalie said bluntly, pointing out the facts.

Amelia remained silent.

Indeed, she still loved Warren. She used to regard Warren as the one she loved most in her entire lifetime. It was only later that she thought of him as the one she despised the most.

After everything that had happened, she thought she could remain neutral toward him.

Yet, her feelings kept playing tricks on her.

If she did not love him at all, she would not feel hurt.

She supposed that, in the end, they were just not compatible.

“Amelia, don’t you think that it’d be such a shame if you go your separate ways just like this?” Rosalie asked sternly.

Amélia replied bitterly, “Rosie, right now, I only wish for Warren to live well.” If they really got together, perhaps someday she would drag him. down.

In fact, if her body gave out one day because of her liver, what choice would he make?

All of a sudden, she did not dare to think.

Amelia did not say anything more after that. She merely took a sip of the water in the glass every so often.

Rosalie did not ask any more questions. She knew that what Amelia needed most was not someone else to persuade her, but a moment to calm herself down.

After some time, Amelia raised her head and looked at Rosalie. She seemed to be offering an explanation. “For a second, I didn’t know where to go after I got out of the hospital. If I went back, I was afraid that my mom would overthink, so… somehow I came to you.”

Rosalie responded, “You can come to my place anytime you want. Amelia, I’ve said before. I would support you in whatever decision you make. It’s just…”

She paused. “Are you sure you won’t regret your decision to break up with Warren?”

Amelia shook her head and took a deep breath. “No.”

Since she had made up her mind, then she would certainly not regret it.

Moreover, there was no room for regrets.

“Well, I’ve bothered you for too time. I’m going back now,” Amelia said.

“Let me give you a lift,” Rosalie offered. She drove Amelia back to the concession stand.

However, once Amelia got out of the car, she found Ryan waiting at the entrance of the concession stand. Ryan hurried forward when he saw her. “Ms. Haab, I beg you to visit Alicia at the detention center. S-She has something to tell you! Please go see her, okay? You have nothing to lose anyway, right?”

Amelia watched as Ryan rushed over to her. She instinctively took two steps back. At the same time, Rosalie moved forward and stood in front of her.

After all, Amelia was pregnant now. If she were to get into any sort of accident, things would get serious.

As soon as Ryan saw Rosalie, his facial expression turned bitter.

Getting involved in Alicia’s case meant that he was getting into trouble with both the York family and the Youngblood family.

“Mrs. Youngblood, I-I mean no harm. I just want to tell Ms. Haab-I mean, Mrs. York—to visit Alicia at the detention center. Alicia really has something important to say to Mrs. York. She says that Mrs. York will regret it if she refuses to go!”
