Chapter 1081
Callum’s face couldn’t help but flush. If there were only the two of them in the room, such an action was no big deal. But now, Amelia and Warren were present, which made him more or less embarrassed.
Still, he was a little reluctant to push Lillian’s hand away.
“All right, stop it. Your friends are still here,” Callum reminded her.
Finally, Lillian withdrew her hand with slight reluctance and said to Amelia and Warren, “Rosalie came in the morning and told me about everything. Thanks for the help you guys gave while I was in a coma these days.”
“How are you feeling now? What did the doctor say?” Amelia inquired concernedly.
“Everything’s good with the preliminary examination. There are still some scans and other examinations to take in the next two days after I get a little better.” Lillian’s gaze landed on Amelia’s abdomen. “What about you, Amelia? Have you gone to the consultation we talked about last time?”
“It’s tomorrow,” Amelia said.
Hearing this, Lillian didn’t say anything more. After all, they had to wait till tomorrow to find out whether Amelia’s results were good or bad.
After they chatted for some time, Amelia noticed Lillian getting somewhat tired. Hence, she stood up and bade farewell before leaving the hospital with Warren.
As usual, Warren sent Amelia back to the concession stand and said, “I’ll pick you up tomorrow to take you to the consultation in the hospital.”
Amelia said nothing and simply unfastened her seat belt to get out of the car, but Warren understood that she had silently agreed.
The next day, specialists from Women’s Health Hospital would give a formal opinion on exactly how much risk the pregnancy carried.
“If the risk is truly too high, but she still insists on giving birth to this child, what am I supposed to do?” ruminated Warren, who felt rather stumped.
He had the car parked in front of the concession stand as he became lost

his thoughts.
In the evening, after Stephen and Abigail left, Lillian looked at Callum and mentioned out of the blue, “I heard Rosalie say that you promised to let that little boy marry Yasmin in order to save me?”
Callum’s body instantly stiffened, and his expression became slightly panicked. “I…”
However, he stammered for ages yet didn’t know what to say and could
scold me, me, only reply through gritted teeth, “You can blame
me, or
or hit me all you want. I’ll take everything as it comes. However, do not leave me!”
Seeing his response, Lillian felt even more distressed. She raised her hands and gently cupped his cheeks. “Why would I blame you, scold you, or hit you?”
“Because… I… I made the decision on my own without discussing it with you,” he said sullenly.
“That’s because I was in a coma. How could you possibly discuss it with me?”
“And… I… I decided Yasmin’s future life without her consent. She might fall in love with others next time, and then this promise will be an extremely cruel constraint for her.”
“Even then, Yasmin will be the one to blame you, scold you, and hit you in the future, not me. After all, you sacrificed her to save your wife!” Lillian pretended to be relaxed and beamed. “All right, Callum, I don’t blame you or resent you, nor will I leave you! I know you did all this for me!”
The man stared at her in a daze. Ever since he made the promise with the little boy of the Woolbright family, he had been on edge and restless, fearing what Lillian would do after she found out.
“Yet now, she merely…” he thought.
“Nonetheless… Yasmin might be upset about it. I wonder if she’ll think you have sold her out when she grows up. But in the future, if she blames you, scolds you, or hits you, I will face her with you! I won’t let you shoulder the blame alone!” Lillian asserted.
This caused Callum’s nose to sting, for she constantly touched his heart inadvertently.

“All right, that’s settled, then…” he answered in a baritone voice.
She grinned, held his face, and took the initiative to kiss his lips. “Callum, no matter what we may face next time, let’s face it together regardless of whether it is good or bad.”
Callum gently wrapped his arms around her waist and returned her kiss.
If it weren’t because she had only woken up not long ago, and he feared she wouldn’t be able to handle a much more fervent kiss, he would’ve long pinned her down and kissed her vigorously.
Such was how deeply Callum loved Lillian, so much so that even if that Woolbright boy had asked for Yasmin’s life at that time, he might’ve agreed.
Because for him, only Lillian was irreplaceable.
At long last, there were answers from the consultation with Women’s Health Hospital. Shannon said to Amelia, “We contacted a liver disease specialist from another hospital and came to this diagnosis result based on your medical condition. There will generally be no major issues in the first and second trimesters of the pregnancy with your current state. The real grave issue comes after you’re seven months pregnant. By then, according to your present liver condition, you won’t be able to bear the needs of pregnancy.”
Hearing this, Amelia felt her heart sink. Although she had already mentally prepared herself and imagined that the results might not be good news, her heart still ached when she actually heard the words from the doctor’s mouth.
“After the seventh month? Then… what if I hold on until the fetus is 35 weeks old? Typically, after about 35 weeks of development, the fetus is basically well-developed and can be delivered safely, right?” she queried. “Plenty of twins have been delivered at about 35 weeks via cesarean section, yes?”
“Thirty-five weeks old is still at least eight months pregnant. The risk index is still very high for you.”
“If it only starts to increase the burden on my liver after the seventh month, I merely have to bear with it for slightly over a month. There should be some drugs that could be used in late pregnancy, right?”
“Yes, but if you really give birth to the baby, your liver will likely be

impaired,” informed Shannon. “Besides, not all drugs can be used. For example, before you were pregnant, you could take painkillers when you felt pain in your liver. However, after pregnancy, you can only relieve the pain by consuming medicines suitable for pregnant women, and these painkillers won’t work at all when your pain aggravates in the late stage of pregnancy. By then, once you hurt, you’ll have to suffer, and you might not get to keep the baby, either.
“Okay, I get it now, but I still want to give it a try. If it really can’t be saved when the time comes, I will know I’ve tried my best. However, if I don’t even try to save it, I’ll likely regret making such a decision in the future,” Amelia said.
Hearing this, Shannon said nothing more. “Anyway, no matter what, you two should have a talk with each other. If you genuinely don’t want to terminate the pregnancy, then we will also come up with a plan stabilize the fetus as much as possible.”
