Thalia’s pov
I stayed by his side for days, keeping a close eye on his vitals. The gadget appeared to be functioning; he opened his eyes on occasion, although being unable to talk, and his Hb was over fifteen. His paleness had vanished, as had the fear of anemia or shock. I saw the color of his skin for the first time. At the very least, it supported his constant boasting about being G*d. The only drawback was that the mutation was still above thirty-five percent, but I was confident that we’d make it go below.
I could wake up and stare at him all day. Nestor would make fun of me from time to time, but I would always explain that I was
monitoring for medical reasons.
He and Dr. Wilson would only laugh but I would always ignore them. I would wake up early every day, bathe and eat, take my vitamins, and sit next to Brandon, watching him while I held his hand. I liked it that way and I could not wait for him to gain his strength and begin talking dirty smark.
If I was not drooling over Brandon I was in front of the TV watching the downfall of the Nelson’s. I had packed my revenge bag a month ago and my concentration was working on plan B for Brandon but the scandal was too huge to ignore. It was in front of all newspapers and every social media page. Everyone was talking about the father and daughter-in-law. I was right, after all, the fools destroyed each other but we never saw it going down like that. I wanted to pinch Brandon and tell him I told him so but not even he would have predicted the truck of skeletons in Nelson’s closets. Jessica and Victor having an affair and framing the baby on Josh was the dirtiest scandal I have ever read. It was a leaf from a horror book. No wonder the old man was eager to announce the pregnancy to the world. Victor was an animal, Nestor and I had tried to process how they even began sleeping together. What kind of a father would sleep with his son’s daughter? Or what kind of a wife would sleep with her father-in-law? They both had no shame, no self-respect, and no morals. I wondered how my father was ever best friends with Victor. He was a dog, maybe even worse than a dog. It made sense that he betrayed my father, the man was capable of killing and attending your funeral.
I had no idea if it was my hormones or what but I somehow felt sorry for Josh. Yes, he deserved everything that life was throwing at him but a part of me felt sorry for him. It was weird, but it was obviously the hormones.
Gentex’s shares plummeted the same hour they were released. All the investors disappeared and neither Victor nor his son was anywhere to be seen. Most people hoped for Josh to finish the job of killing his father but he disappeared. Nestor, who at first was against our revenge, seemed to have taken over the obsession from Bradon. Maybe waiting on Brandon was too boring though he hid under the veil of wanting to update Brandon once he was awake. To be honest the Nelsons provided some form of entertainment to speed up a day. He also found out why Jessica was so loose as to sleep with her father-in-law. Apparently, she knew Victor before Josh. There was a b*othel in Manhattan where she used to work as a sex worker some years ago. And every time Victor was in the area for some business he would find entertainment with the prostitutes of the same b*othel. Though Nestor had no proof Jessica first slept with Victor there, he had proof and photos of them having drinks and lap dances. Victor was sick, I doubted Josh knew that history of them, or maybe he was just too s*upid to eat his father’s vomit. How a father would allow a prostitute to marry his son was something that we were never going to understand or know unless maybe we asked Victor himself. He was last spotted in Siberia, the old useless man finally gave up and ran away, leaving pregnant Jessica to the hell she deserved. The nickname I gave her finally stuck, the skunk became s*ank. At least we found out why the two were too comfortable with each other. Too comfortable in blankets. I couldn’t wait to update Brandon once he was awake, he enjoyed such gossip.
I was very sure he was listening to everything because I placed the Tv in the same room as him. I did not want him to miss any part of his hobby.
The door opened and Nestor walked in with more blood for Brandon. He switched the coolers and joined me. “Someone seems to be enjoying the downfall.”
I looked up at him and rolled my eyes, “I turned the Tv on for Bradon’s sake. You know how he loved and was passionate about the revenge. Maybe if he hears about it he might decide to wake up,” I replied.
“I think he was more passionate about porn,” he stated. I looked up at him with my mouth open. He was not lying; “But I think the revenge took over the porn,” I joked and he just laughed. “Anyway, I was really sure the revenge was going to backfire on you two,” he said. I looked up at him and had no idea what he meant. “I do not believe in revenge myself, I believe in karma,” he added.
“Well sometimes karma is late and it’s up to individuals to give revenge a try,” I replied.
“Just glad it’s all over and we can get back to our lives.”
“I’m glad,” I replied. “But what is going to happen to Gentex?”
He stared in my direction with a smirk on his face. If I was not wrong I would say he was mocking me. Yes, I had given up on the revenge but that did not mean I did not care about the fate of the company that started the entire hell.
“Well we lost a lot of money, the directors are asking about the fate of the company but for now we have to concentrate on Brandon and the baby. We will deal with Gentex later,” he replied and disappeared through the kitchen door.
He seemed to be running away from me and the questions so I decided to drop the subject and concentrate on Brandon. Dr. Wilson walked in for the adjustment. He and I talked last night and we agreed to continue looking for a cure with his team. The FRASER2021i was just giving Brandon time and not a solution. We both agreed to that fact. We had no idea how long but we were going to utilize it. We had changed the filtration from two hours to four hours. We planned to adjust to six hours. After he was done he walked back to his team. They were running on a clock and barely rested. Nestor had given them four rooms which that they reconstructed into a lab. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for them sometimes.
The door opened and Nestor walked out of the kitchen with what seemed to be a cake in his hands. I looked at him surprised and wondered what we were celebrating. I had no idea he could bake. He was really stuffing me with food like he was fattening for s*aughter or something.
I grabbed the plate and thanked him, he cleared his throat for the third time and I knew something was wrong. He always did that when he was about to tell me something that I did not want to or agree to.
“Just say it,” I said to him.
“Well, Brandon is doing well and you are almost due. So I think it’s time to move you to the city,” he suggested, not sure if he was ordering me. I turned to face him and placed the plate of cake on the bed. “Am not leaving Brandon,” I replied.
“Thalia I promised Brandon you were going to give birth at a normal hospital. This is not the place for a baby to be born in,” he replied.
“Just bring everything in here and all the midwives and doctors I need or Dr. Willson will deliver my baby,” I suggested and went on with eating the cake. I did not want to discuss the issue any further. He had just ruined a perfect day and his cake had just become tasteless. I was busy with the latest scandal but he had to ruin it.
“Well I am not turning this place into a maternity ward,” he replied.
I chuckled, he was speaking like I was some lame person who had no idea how to make a call, or I was both dull and deaf.
I stood up and walked to Dr. Willson’s Lab. The crew was surprised to see me, Nestor and I never visited that part of the house. We always allowed them to work without pressure and if we needed anything we always phoned them. When he opened the door I asked him if he had a minute. “Yes, Ms. Thalia?”
“I was asking if you could be my doctor for my delivery?” I asked.
“Ooh,” he said and looked away. “I’m sorry Mrs. Thalia but I’m not that kind of doctor,” he replied.
“What do you mean? Even a plumber can deliver a baby, did Nestor put you up to this?” I asked.
“Ms. Thalia, when last did you have a scan?” he asked.
I looked away in irritation, I couldn’t even remember the last time I did the dumb scan or antenatal.
“You see? That’s why you need to deliver in a hospital. I know how much you care about Mr Fraser but delivery is just one day and by the third, you would be back here,” he stated.
My blood boiled, while I was busy at Brandon’s bedside. Nestor was busy poisoning me to the doctor. Just the nerve? That fool needed to be put in place. I stormed off and found him standing by Brandon’s bed. “What the f*ck is wrong with you!” I yelled at him.
“Thalia calm down!”
“Calm down! Are you s*upid! How many times am I supposed to tell you that I am in charge! Am your dumb boss!” I yelled at him.
He only chuckled, forcing me to hit him hard across the face. “Don’t you ever laugh when I am talking to you! Do I make myself clear and don’t you ever go behind my back and make decisions for me!”
He stretched his neck and closed his eyes, his neck made a terrifying sound like he was going to turn and hit me.
“Thalia pack your bag and go to the city,” a low voice stated. I looked behind and it was Brandon. He was working and he was talking. I ran to him in excitement but he looked away. “Why are you two idiots always fighting like little kids?”
“Ooh my G*d you are talking, I held him and ignored what he was saying. He ordered Nestor to pack a bag for me and prepare me for evacuation.
“But I’m not in labor, Do not pack my bag, call Dr. Nelson,” I yelled at Nestor.
“Thalia do not fight with me, you are stressing me,” he replied.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” I cried out. I had no idea what to do. Whether I was supposed to hug him or not. The doctor walked in and asked me to move while he did some tests on him. Nestor walked in with a packed bag that looked like mine. I wanted so badly to yell at him but for Brandon’s sake, I played it cool.
