The Art of Revenge Chapter 88

Jessica’s Pov

I felt like my chest was collapsing in on me, that everything was crumbling around me. I knew there was nothing I could do. I kept calling Victor, but the calls went unanswered. I last saw him when he was being escorted out from headquarters by cops. I sat in my car, unsure of where to go or what to do.

There was no way I could follow Josh to the police station. When he was being loaded into a police car, I observed that he didn’t want to look at my face. He despised me and despised the sight of me. I needed to give him some time to settle down, but I needed to speak with Victor first.

I decided to drive to the main house, which was the first place that I was supposed to look. Victor had to be there, I was sure he knew his son had not split the shares. I had nothing and the baby had nothing.

He promised me he was going to get me something. He promised Josh was only ever going to find out after the shares were given to me and my baby. But that was not to be, I kept wiping my tears as I drove off. How did he even find out about Canada? My only guess was Brandon Frazer, the ghost, he must have found out, but how?

I drove into the driveway, my eyes wet and swollen. I got my makeup bag and tried to hide the bruise near my mouth. In a space of a month, I had a gun stuffed into my mouth twice like a hardcore criminal.

I was reduced to nothing, not even at the level of a prostitute. I got out of the car and walked into the house. As predicted Victor was home, he was busy on the phone yelling at whoever was on the end of the line.

I matched into the house p*ssed and to my annoyance, he turned his back to me like I was invincible or something. After yelling on the phone for what seemed like forever, he turned. His face was badly swollen, one of his eyes looked like it was completely swollen and he could not see through it.

“Why the f*ck did you tell him about us!” he directed his anger on me.

“Why were you not answering my calls!” I asked but he only looked away. “Your s*upid son put a gun into my mouth! What was I supposed to do!”

“He is a coward, he was not going to shoot you!” He replied. I almost burst out laughing. I saw the look in Josh’s eyes. He was dead serious, he was going to kill me. It was the first time that I saw that look in his eyes and it scared the life out of me. He was calling his son a coward but he was disfigured by the same son. Ignored him and asked;

“How did he find out about Canada? Who told him?”

“You are the ones who decided to move out of this house, this house was your protection, it was always wiped out every day for your own good but you decided to move out!”

I could not believe the fool, maybe the beatings he had gotten shifted his brain or something. Did he honestly think we moved into a new house to discuss Canada? I walked to a chair and sat down. “I think Brandon Fraser found out, he went digging in Canada, and told him,” I suggested.

Victor only held his mouth. “Before he went crazy, he had the shared file and was ready to give me and the baby some shares. I only stepped out to buy some groceries,” I replied. A decision that I began regretting, maybe if I had stayed, I could have known what went wrong and how he found out. I rubbed my hands on my face, there was a lot of self-blame going on in my head.

“Did you say he was changing shares?” Victor asked. “Please tell me he did not have a company seal with him? Why didn’t you tell me!” he held me by the shoulders and shook me like a mad person. “I do not know, I only saw him with papers but when he left for Gentex he had his briefcase,” I replied.

“Why didn’t you tell me? Am from instructing the police to release him without charges!”

“Well if you had picked up my calls maybe you would have found out,” I yelled at him.

He quickly grabbed the phone and I could only assume he was calling the police department and ordering them to put his son back in the cells.

“I have changed my mind, I want to press charges for the attempted murder!” He yelled at them but he was told something that sent him running to the Tv. I followed behind as he switched on the Tv, and his son popped up. My heart stopped for a minute as I watched Josh air all our dirty laundry for the world to hear and watch.

What was worse was the fact that he made the shares public while declaring that I was carrying his father’s child. I turned to face Victor who only sank in his chair. I could only guess that he was proven wrong, his son was not a coward after all. Josh laid us naked for the entire world to watch and judge. All our skeletons were out, we were the jokes to be picked at and laughed at.

We were finished and even though I knew nothing about the business world, the scandal was too big for those shares to have any value especially since it was Victor who announced my pregnancy. They were all going to think we had planned to steal the shares, our own shares, and pass them to a taboo.

I was the w*ore that slept with her father-in-law and got pregnant. Shame and nastiness overwhelmed me and I felt like I was about to burst open. I got out my phone and opened all my social media accounts.

The s*it was all over my accounts, I was the shame of the city, even the s*upid agents that refused to sign me were busy referencing the shame as the reason why they didn’t sign me. I threw the phone in the corner while Victor was busy trying to block the shares but he was unsuccessful.

“Why did you give him so much power, why did you not keep some of the f*cking shares!” I yelled at him.

“Because he is my f*cking son!” he yelled and got up.

I stood up and grabbed him, “where are you going? Where are you going?” I cried out.

“Get your hands off of me! Am going to get whatever is left of those shares,” he replied and walked up to his room.

I was left alone, drenched in my tears. I did not trust him for unknown reasons but there was nothing that I could do. He needed to get those shares back even if they were going to be useless.

Maybe his Russian friends were going to do some magic. They always saved Gentex every time s*it went down. I told myself to breathe and calm down, the damage was already done, crying was not going to solve anything.

Victor walked back with a briefcase, he cleared his throat, “I think you should stay away from the public for now until I clean the mess,”

I quickly got up, “How… long is that going to take?” I asked while wiping my tears.

“I do not know, but I’m wasting time talking to you,”

“Wait a minute? What happens to us? I mean the baby in case you fail?”

“Just hang tight, since when have I failed to clean my son’s mess,” he stated and moved close to me. I tried to move away but he grabbed my head and kissed me on the forehead. He let go of me, walked to the door and stopped then turned to face me. There was a weird look on his face, a look that I had not seen on him before. If I was not wrong I could say he was lost. He turned and walked out of the house, leaving me in a huge empty house with nothing but shame.

I walked to the window and I saw a reporter’s van, the press was watching us or was it safe to say me. I screamed out, went into my old room, and continued with my crying while laughing at my pathetic life.

Thalia won, she won without even drawing blood. She was probably watching on a big flat screen, expensive wine by her side, and a big fat bank account while I had nothing. It all crumbled down my feet like a tsunami without warning. I had hope for my marriage with Josh but the marriage seemed to have been cursed from day one.
