Cora looked up in surprise and saw Byron’s face.

Byron didn’t want her to wander around in the darkness of the
night.
But Cora felt he only cared about the child and not about her,
so she replied coldly, “You don’t need to worry about my son.”
“He’s my son too!” Byron gritted his teeth, then pointed out,
“You have a son now, so are you forgetting your son’s father?”
She had taken their child back to New York, yet she didn’t take
him to visit his father.
The more Byron thought about it, the more he felt that he
seemed to not have much importance in their family!
Cora said, “His father is already with another woman! Why do
we need him?”

When Cora heard him mention Elena’s name all of a sudden,

“She returned because her younger brother had a heart problem and had to undergo surgery.”
He explained in exasperation, but Cora didn’t seem to believe
him. “Coming back to take care of her brother and even
making a special trip to accompany you to a club? Miss Turner
is really competent.”

“Don’t look at me like that! I didn’t even reply to her message,
so she went to find me as soon as she returned and asked me
if I minded.”
He had basically explained everything, but the woman before him asked him back, “Why couldn’t I come to see you?! Are you
afraid of being found out?”
He simply clung to her ear and said something.
