Chapter 333
Chapter 333
“Neil, can we just drop this argument, please?” I didn’t want to talk about it anymore.
“You can’t have any contact with Russel Dawson. That’s my bottom line. Don’t you get it?” Neil looked stern, a hint of a crack appearing in his icy demeanor. He was clearly pissed.
This situation had caused a small rift in our previously growing closeness.
The atmosphere in the living room was tense. I stood there while Neil sat on the sofa, neither of us breaking the silence.
After a while, I couldn’t stand there any longer. I didn’t even say a word to Neil. I turned around to leave. But Neil was quick; he grabbed me before I could make it to the door.
He asked me angrily, “Are you pissed off? Going out to dinner alone with other men and being so stubborn?”
“Neil, stop talking nonsense, okay?” I was really annoyed. “Do you even know how critical the situation was for Chloe Reynolds? Was I supposed to watch her jump off the roof?”
“What does it matter to you if she lives or dies?” Neil still held his ground.
“Neil, do you have to be so cold-hearted?” I pulled away from him, trying to control my emotion’s, and said calmly, “When I saw her, it reminded me of my past. Don’t you think we’re similar in some ways? I don’t want her to repeat my mistakes. Is that a problem?”
Though I tried to keep my composure, Neil noticed something was up. He frowned and asked me, “What do you mean by ‘repeat your mistakes? Have you ever tried to kill yourself?”
I was taken aback and quickly averted my eyes from Neil.
I had indeed contemplated suicide in the past, but that was history. Nobody around me knew about it.
Neil seemed to have found something out, and he asked me again, “Answer me.”
“No, I just feel that we both married men who don’t love us. I can understand her feelings. Russel is just like you; he’s doing to Chloe what you did to me.” I quickly regained my composure.
My answer was logical, so Neil couldn’t find any fault with it.
He squinted his eyes and leaned in closer to me, “I love you more than you love me now. What are you empathizing with?”
“The pain of the past may fade away, but the scars remain.” I looked straight into Neil’s eyes and said, “I’ve always known that although I haven’t completely let go of my feelings for you, I can’t deny the immense pain you once caused me.”
Every time I thought about that pain, it suffocated me.
I didn’t even know what I was thinking or should do in that conflicting state of mind.
Neil’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, like a butterfly about to take off. His eyes were so dark, deep, and mysterious that I couldn’t help but look at him more. In those beautiful eyes, I saw his troubles and heartache. “Yes, I didn’t know I would fall in love with you then I was too arrogant. So, I accept everything you do to me now. I’ll do whatever you ask.”
I couldn’t deny that.
The restlessness and pain in my heart gradually calmed down with Neil’s words. I knew I still couldn’t be ruthless in front of him.
“Neil, I have no feelings for Russel. You should know that. Why don’t you trust me?” I looked up at Neil with my eyes full of questions.
“I trust you. I just don’t trust him.” Neil sighed and pulled me into his arms. He had a faint smell of shower gel; he must have taken a shower.
So, I didn’t smell any perfume on his clothes, which was good.
“Don’t worry so much. I’m with you.” I snuggled into Neil’s arms, trying to soften my voice.
Neil also sounded more relaxed, “Yes, you’re with me; no one can take you away, right?”
“Right Lwent along with Neil’s thoughts, not just to get his help but also because of my inner turmoil.
Neil liked my submissive side. The corners of his mouth lifted slightly, showing his improved mood.
I didn’t want to quarrel with him at this critical juncture. Since he took the initiative to stop me, I had to show sincerity. So I tiptoed, wrapped my arms around his neck, and kissed him.
Neil kept his eyes wide open, staring at me. I was already a bit shy, but then I was even more embarrassed to be watched white kissing him, so I had to close my eyes.
It didn’t take long for Neil to kiss me more passionately.
The atmosphere in the room was growing more intense, and the temperature was rising. The living room had become our temporary playground, a place we were both very familiar with.
As my resistance to Neil gradually disappeared, my body’s acceptance of the situation grew. Neil’s skills were needless to say, and his stamina was amazing. I was gradually experiencing the pleasure.
After all, I was a woman in my thirties. There was no need to suppress my needs.
That night, we made love in the living room until the sky outside lightened. I finally pushed Neil away, “I have to go. Otherwise, my mom will get suspicious if she wakes up early and doesn’t see me.”
“Doesn’t your mom know that I bought this villa? If she sees the lights on here, wouldn’t she think I’m here?” Neil asked me.
The question caught me off guard. I suddenly realized that how my mom could not notice the lights on in the villa? She had plenty of free time every day and could definitely notice that.
I started to panic and quickly got dressed to go home. Seeing that, Neil also started to dress, saying, “I’ll go back with you. Since you’ve already told her about your dad, you might as well tell her everything else.”
“You don’t need to go back with me. My mom might…” I didn’t finish because Neil should be able to guess.
My mom might have scolded him, and if she really got physical, she might have even hit him.
But Neil didn’t care, “So what? Should you, a woman, handle this kind of thing? We’re destined to be together. It’s something we have to face sooner or later. I don’t want to avoid it anymore.”
Neil’s words made me feel complex. At this moment, I even believed that he truly loved me
