Chapter 307
Chapter 307
Next scene, Faith was loudly reprimanding Bonnie, who was crying uncontrollably.
Finally, Faith couldn’t stand her crying anymore, raised her hand again, but this time Neil blocked it. The hand print on his face was left by Faith.
Watching this video, I felt a bit better. After all, Faith slapped Bonnie for me, indirectly letting off some steam.
“Alright, thanks.” I handed the phone back to Hannah and softly thanked her.
“Ms. Finch, what’s the deal between Bonnie and Mr. Whitmore?” Hannah hesitated for a moment before bravely asking me this question.
I grabbed a bottle of red wine, got two glasses of it, handed one to Hannah, and we chatted while drinking.
What’s the deal between Neil and Bonnie? I’m somewhat puzzled myself. During my past life, I could say they were truly in love. In this life, I can’t describe it at all.
However, I still briefly told Hannah about the recent events, considering Oscar should have told her about the past.
Hannahs face grew more and more distressed until I finished speaking. She then gathered her courage and said, “She’s so lucky. Mr. Whitmore actually likes her, and so does Gloria, even treating her as a daughter. It’s so unfair”
I don’t think she’s jealous of Bonnie, but rather thinking about her brother’s unfortunate fate.
After all, Oscar and Bonnie were once lovers. Initially, they started at a similar point, but now Oscar is dead, and Bonnie’s life is getting better and better.
“By the way, Hannah, I suddenly remembered something, ‘you mentioned before that you opposed your brother dating Bonnie. Why? Can you tell me now?”
Hannah stared at the red wine in her glass for a long time before sighing. “Ms. Finch, the Bonnie from before wasn’t as innocent as everyone thought. I discovered it by accident, so I started opposing them.”
“Can you elaborate?” I asked again.
Hannah hesitated for a moment, but eventually told me why she didn’t like Bonnie.
It turned out that the first time Oscar brought Bonnie home, all of the Morse family loved Bonnie. She was docile and innocent, very likable.
But when Oscar wasn’t home, Hannah accidentally saw Bonnie making a phone call. It sounded like she was breaking up with another boy, and her tone was very harsh.
“That boy must have been Bonnie’s ex-boyfriend. from high school. They were always entangled. But Oscar told me he was Bonnie’s first boyfriend.” Hannah was somewhat angry, “She had been lying to him!”
“So you started disliking her since then?’ I didn’t expect that Bonnie had such a past, and it was discovered by Hannah.
“I think people like her are scary. They seem harmless, but they’re actually very scheming. I warned Oscar at the time, but he only cared about Bonnie, so I could only watch helplessly. Hannah finished her glass of wine after saying this.
I didn’t deny Hannah’s words, but instead it reinforced my decision not to tell her about the doubts surrounding Oscar’s death. She’s already having a hard time, she doesn’t need any more pain.
“Can’t Mr. Whitmore see clearly? Why does he like Bonnie? And I thought he want to get back together with you? Why is he still involved with Bonnie?” Hannahs tone was full of confusion.
I smiled and said, ‘I don’t know, maybe he’s got some issues.”
Hannah and I were so engrossed in our conversation that neither of us noticed Neil’s arrival. It wasn’t until our glasses of wine were empty and I suggested Hannah go rest first, that she got up, looked back, and was startled back onto the couch, “Mr. Whitmore!”
I also quickly looked back, Neil probably heard our conversation just now, especially the part where we said he couldn’t see people clearly, so he didn’t look happy.
“Ms. Finch, I’ll go rest first’ Hannah said quietly, then quickly left.
I put the wine glass away, then stood up and said, “I’ve had enough to drink, I’m going to bed.”
“Let’s talk.” Neil sat down next to me, grabbed my hand, and had me sit back down.
I was somewhat unwilling, but I didn’t resist, just sighed deeply, ‘Go ahead, what do you want to talk about?”
Neil didn’t let go of my hand, but gently stroked the back of it. His tone was filled with deep helplessness, “If I don’t tell you, will you continue to doubt me?”
I didn’t say anything, just lowered my head to look at the now empty wine glass.
The living room was very quiet, only Neil’s voice could be heard. He slowly explained to me, not as sharp as he was upstairs earlier.
Despite my bad mood, and still thinking about what Russel said, I listened carefully to every word Neil said.
What he said was completely different from Russel’s.
I was shocked, “Ethan is Karina’s biological father?!”
“Yes, back then Gloria betrayed her husband and had Karina with Ethan. Neil raised an eyebrow, “So that’s why he takes special care of StarGlow Enterprises, and has ulterior motives for Bonnie, are all because of Gloria.”
“You and Ethan…” I was somewhat dumbfounded.
“I just know him, but we’re not close. Plus he knows about you and me, so he’s very wary of me. So the fastest way is through Bonnie, you understand?” Neil suddenly applied a bit of pressure on my hand with his fingertips. I felt a little pain in my palm, I wanted to pull my hand back, but he held it tightly.
I couldn’t help but ask, “Neil, does my dad’s case really have nothing to do with you?”
Neil’s face was stern, “Russel spilled the beans, didn’t he?”
I felt a bit awkward, “How did you know?”
“Do you think I wouldn’t know what he’s up to? I ran into him at the hospital today, you must’ve seen him too. If he gets a chance to see you, he’ll definitely say something to make you doubt me, to distance me. I know Russel like the back of my hand.” Neil sneered, “Do you really think he’s as much of a saint as he makes himself out to be?”
I didn’t say anything, because I knew Russel only acts like a saint when he’s got nothing to gain, but if he wants something, he’ll stop at nothing to get it.
Neil pulled me into his arms, gently pinching my chin with his other hand, “What do I have to do to make you trust me? Don’t you have any faith in me?”
I awkwardly avoided his gaze, not answering him.
Neil sighed, “I’m practically sacrificing myself to keep my promise to you, and this is how you treat me?”
“And Gloria? Won’t she suspect you? You’re living with me but running off to see Bonnie,” I retorted.
