Chapter 300
Chapter 300
“Ms. Finch, sorry, I know I shouldn’t be making calls while on duty, but he just keeps…” Hannah wiped her eyes, which were already red from frustration.
“Don’t sweat it. I think you don’t need to argue with that jerk. If you’re worried about your parents, I’ll go with you to pick them up after Christmas. Get them away from that bastard for good.” I handed back her phone, trying to comfort her.
Hannah finally broke down in tears.
Neil came downstairs at this point, but he didn’t say anything. He just went to have dinner in the dining room.
Once Hannah was calmed down, I went back to my meal.
I was quiet due to my deep thoughts, and Neil, being the cold fish he was, didn’t say much. If I still trusted him, I would’ve mentioned Louis. But there was no need now
“Come to the hospital with me tomorrow,” Neil suddenly said without looking at me.
“The hospital? What’s wrong?” I was taken aback.
“We’re going for a check-up,” Neil finally looked up at me. His eyes were cold and indifferent.
I was slightly surprised but kept my cool. “What are we checking?”
Neil’s gaze drifted down as if looking at my belly, but it was blocked by the table. Then he looked back at me and asked, “Have you been taking birth control pills without my knowledge?”
Upon hearing this, I heaved a sigh of relief. I was worried that Neil would find out about my possible infertility. Russel wouldn’t use this against me. If he did, I would never forgive him.
“No,” I answered straightforwardly. I had no reason to.
“You’re not lying to me, are you?” Neil seemed somewhat skeptical
“What’s the point in lying? Birth control pills are bad if you take too many. I’m not crazy,” I said lightly. “I actually want a baby.”
Every time I saw pictures of Stella’s kids, I felt envious
If I could have another child, I wouldn’t care who the father was as long as it was mine
I couldn’t say this to Neil, or he would be pissed.
‘Then let’s go back to Springvale tomorrow to celebrate Christmas with my parents this year,” Neil didn’t mention the hospital check-up again but suggested celebrating Christmas with his parents.
I quickly found an excuse to decline. “Let’s just celebrate Christmas here, my mom is here, and it’s not convenient for her to move.”
Neil paused, furrowing his brows, apparently unable to rebut my reason. After all, it wasn’t right to leave my mom here alone while we went to Springvale. Even if she had someone to take care of her, it wasn’t appropriate.
“Alright, I’ll let them know Neil had finished his meal and then brought up another matter, ‘I’ve taken care of all the crap online. You don’t need to worry.”
I had already arranged for the false rumors about me to be handled by a PR team, but I have to admilt Whitmore Co’s PR team was more powerful and efficient.
I quietly ate my meal, not even uttering a “thank you”
Neil naturally sensed my unstable mood, but he didn’t inquire; he just went upstairs to take a shower. When I went upstairs, I could still hear the sound of running water from the master bathroom.
I was feeling tired today. I didn’t feel like showering, so I just changed into my pajamas and went to bed.
After a while, Neil came out wrapped in a towel. The white towel was tied low around his waist, exposing his well-defined abs. He looked perfect
“Why did you come to bed so early?” Neil asked me.
“I’m a bit tired and want to sleep,” I closed my eyes, pretending to be ready to sleep.
Neil chuckled. He sat on the edge of the bed, then gently lifted my chin, forcing me to turn my head and open my eyes to look at him, “Sleep? I can’t sleep”
My heart immediately raced; every time Neil had that look in his eyes, I felt like he was about to make a move on me, and he always did. But I was somewhat resistant towards him now. The picture kept popping up in my mind, and I felt like I had been deceived again.
‘Neil, I think I just got my period,” I found an excuse to fend him off.

Upon hearing this, Neil’s face immediately changed; it was filled with irritation as he asked, “Today?”
“Yeah, just now,” I lied.
“I want to check” Unexpectedly, Neil gave me a fright with his words.
Before I could respond, he had already lifted the blanket and reached for my legs.
I hurriedly clamped my legs together and couldn’t help but curse at him, “Are you sick?!”
Seeing me avoiding him, Neils eyes immediately turned serious, and said, “Spread your legs!”
“No way, I just got my period. Aren’t you disgusted?” I stubbornly replied.
“I’ll know when I see. You know what happens if you lie to me. Neil ordered coldly. “Spread them; don’t make me repeat myself a third
time.”
I should’ve used a different excuse.
That asshole Neil simply used his hands to pry me open. My thighs couldn’t resist his strength, and I was exposed.
I didn’t have my period, and my underwear was clean.
“Irene, are you lying to me?” Neil took a deep breath and looked up at me with gritted teeth, “You just don’t want me touching you?”
Tim just really tired today,” I answered, somewhat flustered.
And wasn’t he with Bonnie last night?
Thinking about that situation, I felt uncomfortable and wanted to avoid Neil’s touch.
Neil’s face turned pale, then flushed, and he sat up straight. Even though he was looking at my naked legs, he didn’t touch me again, “You’re not tired, you just don’t want me touching you, I get it.”
He got up to get his pajamas and said, “I’ll sleep in the study”
I was speechless, watching Neil leave. But I didn’t feel relieved.
I had a restless night. Since I returned to Sterling Estates, I hardly had a good night’s sleep. Either Neil was constantly seeking me out, or I was unable to sleep due to some matters.
Due to lack of sleep, I started to feel unwell. Sometimes, I felt discomfort in my chest. I passed away due to breast cancer in my past life, so I was extremely worried about encountering it again.
In addition, I was also worried about possible heart conditions.
I had been mulling over the idea of getting a check up at the hospital after Christmas because health was everything.
The next day. I was out cold until noon. Just as I was about to head downstairs, I froze. I found myself standing on the staircase, unsure whether to go up or down.
Did Nell’s parents drop by?
“Irene, you’re up! Come over here, and I’ve brought some home-raised chickens and ducks for you guys.” Faith Whitmore’s face lit up with a joyful grin when she saw me.
