Chapter 253
Chapter 253
After sending the message a half-peeled egg was placed in front of me. Neil retracted his hand, saying. “Eat up”
1 can peel it myself “I realized I was quite stubborn. No matter what Neil did, I felt like giving him a piece of my mind
Ned raised an eyebrow, “Then peel it yourself and walk out when you’re done”
He was just taking advantage of my temporary immobility, threatening me every now and then
I couldn’t walk out myself, and Bailey couldn’t come in to fetch me. In the end, I still had to rely on Neil
Suppressing my growing anger, I grabbed the egg and finished it in one bite. The next second, Neil pushed a sandwich towards me, “Keep eating”
“Cough, cough…”I choked on the egg and started coughing, trying to feel better.
Under Neil’s urging, I ate quite a bit, even finishing with a cup of hot milk. I was starting to feel stuffed
The servant who had spoken highly of Neil last night was looking at me with a smile, her eyes filled with teasing.
“Alright, hurry and take me out “I intentionally ignored the servant’s gaze, urging Nel
Neil stood up, seemingly unfazed by the games of others. He picked me up and started heading outside
It had rained all night, and the ground was wet.
Cold air crept into my collar, making me shiver.
Neil navigated through the puddles, carrying me to his car.
**
As the car arrived outside Sterling Estates, I caught sight of my own car Bailey was standing outside, waiting for me
Neils car slowed down, and Bailey immediately came over to open the door for me. “Ms Finch, what happened? Why did you suddenly want a wheelchair?”
twisted my ankle, having some trouble moving” I reached out my hand. “Can you help me out of the car?”
Bailey nodded and wanted to help me, but Neil pulled him back, I can help her”
Before Bailey could react, Neil had already lifted me out and transferred me to my own car
Bailey followed us silently. Once I was settled, he didn’t say anything to Neil. He just got in the car and drove off.
“Bailey, you’ve had a hard time recently “I sighed with my eyes closed.
It indeed had been busy recently, with Bailey chauffeuring me around frequently, but he never complained
“Ms. Finch, its what I should do.” Bailey replied, ‘But why were you with him?”
I opened my eyes, remembering what Nell had said about seeing my father I sighed, “It’s a long story”
Bailey didn’t probe further. I knew no matter what I did, he would always stand by me
The night at Sterling Estates felt like a dream. I cleared my thoughts and plunged back into work. Amid the busyness, my sprained ankle gradually
healed
When Stella chatted with me, she gossiped a lot about Kitty, all related to her and Neil.
“Rena, she’s no ordinary person I looked up her identity and was shocked” Stella exclaimed on the phone.
“What happened?” asked while eating
“Didn’t your company work with a firm called Evershine Enterprises in the Dreamscape District? She’s the daughter of the president of that company. Her name is Mamie Wilson Stella revealed
I was truly stunned. I remembered running into Kitty at Dreamscape District and how Evershine Enterprises decided to sign a contract with me at a cntical moment. Were they all not coincidences?
Or did Kitty help me?
“However, her mother died giving birth to her. The current wife of the president of Evershine Enterprises is her stepmother.” Stella spilled everything she know.
I felt a wave of confusion upon hearing this.
After hanging up, I lost my appetite I opened WhatsApp and messaged Kitty: Can we meet?
Kitty replied quickly, “Sure, come over here!”
She sent me an address, and I rushed over.
Kitty was a food enthusiast, and she was trying out a new Western restaurant. On seeing me, she waved excitedly. “Irene, over here!”
Her hair was dyed purple again, looking wild and free. Her round face was adorned with noticeable piercings on her nose and lips
I sat down, and Kilty enthusiastically recommended the restaurant’s signature dishes. After listening for a while, I interrupted her, “Are you the youngest daughter of Evershine Enterprises president?”
“Huh?” Kitty froze, then quickly burst into a radiant smile, “How did you know?”
I smiled, “A friend recognized you and told me.”
Kitty readily admitted her identity and chatted with me. She was a girl who didn’t lack money but lacked love. She hated her stepmother, so she started
roaming around after graduation. Her dad didn’t know what to do with her.
As for the contract with Evershine Enterprises, Kitty admitted that she had asked her dad for help.
“I don’t like Bonnie; she’s a vixen!” Kitty didn’t mince her words, “Irene, even though you’re Neil’s ex- wife and Bonnie is his ex-girlfriend, I hate her, not you. If I were Neil, I would never forget you either.”
Kitty’s words shocked me. She didn’t get angry or jealous when Neil left with me on her birthday?
Her candid expressions of feelings made me envious
I had prepared a bunch of rebuttals in case Kitty wanted to pick a fight, but her words made me feel petty.
Just when I didn’t know how to respond, a voice sounded next to us, “Irene, having a meal with a friend?”
Just our luck, we were talking about Bonnie, and there she was, with Kate, Aaron, and Malinda in tow.
“Isnt she one of Neil’s admirers? Malinda suddenly pointed at Kitty, “I saw her when Neil was in the hospital. Do you remember, Bonnie?”
Bonnie looked at Kitty, her brow furrowed.
Kitty cast a dismissive glance at the group and continued to eat, treating Malinda’s words as hot air.
Whether out of jealousy or dissatisfaction, Bonnie’s personality was becoming more and more volatile. She was unable to hide her emotions.
She gave a contemptuous smile, “Neil has plenty of admirers. What’s she to him? He wouldn’t like a woman who reeks of cheapness”
“As far as I know, before you deliberately sucked up to Neil to get rich, you were also just an ordinary cheap woman, weren’t you?” Kitty wasn’t about to let Bonnie off the hook. She forked a piece of steak, took a slow bite, and asked, “What’s the matter? Forgotten where you came from so quickly?”
I laughed out loud. She hit the nail on the head, and I love her spirit.
Bonnie’s face was cold and sharp. “What are you laughing at? She’s your rival too.”
“Sorry, she and I are not rivals. I was the one who gave her Neil’s contact” I replied with a grin.
