Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled Chapter 166

Chapter 166

Chapter 166

Before I drove off, I rolled down the window and listened carefully. Some chaotic noises were coming from a workshop not far away. It sounded pretty

Intense.

The next day, news about a ruckus happening at Zion Chemical Plant was all over

Thankfully, the cops showed up in time, or someone could’ve gotten seriously hurt. A worker had two of his ribs broken and internal bleeding. He’s already taken to the hospital.

The gang causing the trouble was led by Finn, a regular at the police station. It’s always the small fries that get the blame, and Finn always managed to dodge responsibility smoothly

I was watching the news when my dad came back to get some documents. He looked pissed.

He said angrily. “Those gangsters are a cancer in Rosemont, they’ve extorted so many companies. I’m going to nab that Finn before I retire, and make him serve some time That’ll be my contribution to the public!”

Dad, you can do it!” I encouraged him.

“You’ve seen the news, right? The place they caused trouble was Whitmore Co’s Zion Chemical Plant. That makes me happy. If Neil was there, I hope he got a beating too” My dad held grudges, hoping his ex–son–in–law would get a beating.

I shook my head. What I did last night might have been a mistake.

I shouldn’t have called the police, I should’ve let things get worse, causing trouble for Whitmore Co.

My dad shook his head, “But Neil seems to have grown a conscience these past two years. He’s been doing charity work all over and donated to three welfare homes. If something happened to him, that’d be a loss to Rosemont. It’s a tough choice.”

With that, he sighed and left.

I sat in the living room, laughing my head off. My dad’s gotten more talkative as he’s aged.

After he left, I continued watching the news.

The news mentioned a concerned citizen who called the police, and now Whitmore Co. is trying to find this person to give them a reward.

I am that concerned citizen, but I didn’t need a reward.

Then, Alicia called. She sounded upset, “Rena, can you accompany me for a blind date?”

“A blind date?” I was surprised. Why would she agree to that? The last time she attended a singles dance must’ve been her limit.

“Yes, my father suddenly told me if I don’t find a suitable man to marry, he’ll give my project to someone else. I’m starting to doubt if I’m his only, biological daughter!” Alicia sounded puzzled.

I could only admire Alicia’s father old people sure are cunning!

My friend needed my help, and I couldn’t refuse her.

We agreed on the time and place to meet, then I hung up.

We decided to meet tonight at Rosemont’s Crystal Horizon Consortium, which had eighty–eight floors.

The top floor was a scenic restaurant, perfect for couples or spouses to dine in, enjoying the night view of Rosemont while eating.

In the evening, I arrived at Crystal Horizon Consortium as promised. Alicia, dressed in professional attire, was waiting for me. Her makeup was light, showing her disdain for this blind date.

I foresaw this, so I also dressed simply, not even bothering to put on makeup before leaving the house.

Alicia’s blind date was Sean, the second son of Opulent World Consortium. He’s half Italian on his mother’s side.

But supposedly, he didn’t inherit his mother’s good looks, so he’s just average–looking, rarely got involved in the company’s management, and seldom appeared in the news.

Sean picked the place for the date. When we arrived, he was already there waiting.

I couldn’t help but suspect the people who said Sean was average–looking were just jealous of him.

He’s actually a very handsome man!

“Wow! Alicia covered her face with her purse, “Rena, I’m going to touch up my makeup. Can you go say hi to him first so he doesn’t think I’m late?”

Nowadays, a handsome face could make even a strong woman’s heart flutter.

Looking at Alicia’s retreating figure, I sighed deeply. Then I went over and sat across from Sean, quietly saying hello, “Hi, you’re Sean, right? I’m Alicia’s friend Irene, she’ll be here in a moment”

“Hello, Ms. Finch” Sean smiled at me. He’s typically Italian looking, with sharp features and scruffy beard, but it didn’t make him look sloppy Instead, it

added to his charm

Alicia liked this type of man, no wonder she’s been single for so many years.

While I was chatting politely with Sean, Alicia was probably in the middle of carefully applying her makeup, preparing to make a dazzling entrance, so she

topk a while.

Suddenly, an angry woman’s voice rang throughout the restaurant, “Neil! You’ve gone too far!”

I instinctively looked over to see a woman standing up and splashing the red wine in her glass onto the man across from her.

Nell let the wine splash onto his face, his expression dark. His hair and face were wet from the wine, with drops still dripping from his chin.

His eyes moved and immediately found me, and his normally calm eyes flashed with surprise.

I looked away, pretending I saw nothing.

That’s Neil, the CEO of Whitmore Co. and your ex–husband, right?‘ Sean asked.

He’s not interested in company affairs but was quite into gossip!

I nodded, “yes”

At this point, the woman across from Neil stormed off. He stood up and pulled open a chair, wiping the wine off his face with a napkin before walking towards me.

Sean looked at me and then at Neil.

“Sean, what are you doing here?” Neil stopped next to our table and looked at Sean.

Everyone in this circle knew each other.

Sean replied politely, I’m on a blind date.”

Neil’s expression darkened, and he finally looked at me. After a few seconds, he walked away.

From start to finish, one didn’t ask if he was on a date with me, and the other didn’t take the initiative to explain that his date wasn’t me.

I didn’t care about Neil misunderstanding, but I cared about Alicia misunderstanding!

Alicia, with a carefully applied makeup, stood not far behind Neil. She must’ve heard their conversation.

She glanced at me, her eyes revealing a trace of disappointment.

As long–time buddies, I knew she had a crush on Sean.

I just didn’t take the initiative to explain my relationship with Sean, and that was really wrong. However, I didn’t want to have any chit–chat with Neil, if someone really needed to explain, that should be Sean.

“Hey.” Alicia, hiding the disappointment in her eyes, strode over without a doubt to say hi and tried to sit next to me.

I put my bag on the seat, “Ali, there’s no room here, why don’t you sit with Mr. Sean?”

Alicia’s bright eyes were on Sean, and Sean gave her a warm smile, “Sit next to me.”

N

Compared to his smile at me earlier, his smile at Alicia was obviously warmer.

I knew there was a chance for them to hit it off, so after downing a glass of water, I made up some excuse to skedaddle, giving them more alone time.
