Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled Chapter 155

Chapter 155

Chapter 155

I turned around to see Neil standing there with a grim face, having clearly heard me call him a “jerk.”

I waved to Cathie coolly. “You should head off, drive safe tonight”

Cathie nodded, shot Neil a glare, and zoomed off with a press of the gas pedal.

She’s so free and easy, so cool.

If I had been half as free spirited as her, I wouldn’t have ended up with Neil, and none of this would have happened.

“So I’m a jerk in your eyes?” Neil’s voice was icy cold.

“What I think of you doesn’t matter, as long as you’re the best man in Bonnie’s eyes, that’s enough, isn’t it?” I retorted, “Neil, get a grip, Bonnie is important to you, and not just because of Karina. Stop coming to me with all this weird stuff.”

Ready to leave, I turned around only to have Neil grab my wrist and force me into his car. I tried to open the door, but it wouldn’t budge.

“What the hell are you doing? I demanded, my wrist, aching from his grip.

“What’s this about?” Neil pulled out a handful of photos, his tone icy

I took the photos and was taken aback. They were of me and Oscar, who I had run into at a Day of the Dead ceremony

We had shared a meal and he had hugged me before we parted Somehow, that had been caught on camera.

From the angle of the photo, we looked like a couple.

“Where did you get these?” I asked.

“Why were you hugging him? I thought you were just friends?” Neil was angry, as if I had cheated on him

“If you managed to get these photos, you must also know when they were taken. We were divorced by then. What happened between Oscar and me is none of your business.”

After calmly responding. I attempted to open the door again. “Unlock the door, I want out!”

Neil was clearly pissed. He unlocked the door, but just as I was about to climb out, he leaned over and shut it.

Seeing this, I got angry and bit him again!

Through the thin fabric of his shirt, my teeth dug hard into Neil’s skin. I heard him gasp. I thought it hurt.

He had been scratched, bitten, even hit by me several times before, but he never learned his lesson and kept provoking me.

I let go of Neil My teeth had drawn blood from his forearm, staining his shirt sleeve.

“Trenell” Neil glared at his sleeve, swearing, “How many times have you bitten me? Are you a child?!

I wiped my mouth with a napkin, “Open the door, or I’m calling your parents”

Neil’s face was pale. He finally unlocked the door.

He knew if I complained to his parents, hed be scolded, and it might even affect Bonnie.

Once back in my car, I immediately contacted Halley to find out who had taken the photos of Oscar and me

They were definitely taken by professional paparazzi.

Halley had good connections in the industry and could usually dig up some information

Halley replied: [Okay. I’ll let you know once I find out

I put down my phone and glanced at Neils car through the windshield. He was still sitting there.

I knew Neil had feelings for me. His personality wouldn’t allow for him to be so persistent, even giving me all his assets and shares in Whitmore Co. But it

was too late now

If I hadnt experienced such deep pain, or if he was not wavering over Bonnie, I might have taken him back.

To be more precise, if my child were still alive, as time went on, I could have let go of my resentment and let the child recognize him as his father. But there were no more ifs

From any perspective, he and I were a past that shouldn’t be entangled anymore.

My mother’s fiftieth birthday was coming up in a few days.

I put everything else aside and focused on planning a birthday party for her

Stella and the others would certainly come. As for the other guests, my mom and I would decide together.

I invited Russel, my best friend, I was more than happy to invite him.

The one family that couldn’t be ignored in the business circle was the Whitmore family. The Whitmores and the Finches were once allies through marriage, but now they were practically enemies.

My mom decided to ignore the Whitmores, and after deciding on the rest of the guest list, let others handle the invitation cards.

On the day of my mom’s birthday, the venue was bustling. I sat in a corner with Stella Barbara, and Alicia, eating and chatting Mitch was there too, and somehow his good friend Cooper had tagged along

The two were chatting with others not far away when Alicia pointed and said, “Isn’t that Russel?”

I looked over and was dazzled

Russel was a handsome man with an impeccable manner, definitely one of the standouts in a crowd.

But because of his job, he seldom wore formal clothes, mostly wearing doctor’s robes. In his off time, he preferred a casual and comfortable style.

His black suit today was eye catching, and his charisma was on full display, a stark contrast to his usual calm demeanor as a doctor.

“Rena, you invited him?” Stella asked.

“Yes” I answered

“Oh, so Neil is the only one who wasn’t invited?” Barbara chirned in

Alicia lightly tapped her head, “Of course she wouldn’t invite Neil!”

Barbara suddenly realized, and laughed awkwardly. “I just thought it was strange, with Russel, Mitch, and Cooper here, but no Neil. Is he so focused on Bonnie that he’s ignoring his own friends?”

Stella rolled her eyes, “He’s always been more about women than friends!”

“Neil’s behavior is just baffling,” Alicia said with a puzzled look, “If he cares about feelings, then why has he been so indifferent and repelling towards Renal for a decade? If you say he doesn’t care about feelings, then why is he so obsessed with his relationship with Karina?”

Stella quickly chimed in. “He just doesn’t love Rena, that’s all!”

Having said that, she seemed to realize that she might have said something wrong, and quickly comforted me, “Rena, don’t be upset, you’ll meet a better guy once you leave him behind, he’s not worth your worry.”

“Why should I be sad? I’ve moved on, I answered with a smile.

Just as I finished speaking, Stella suddenly stood up and stormed over to Mitch

Turns out some woman was trying to flirt with Mitch. As soon as she saw Stella coming, she scampered off.

Barbara, Alicia and I were busy taking in the spectacle when we noticed Russel walking over
