Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 984

“What’re you talking about?” Song An stared at her. “My father gave this to you, so you have to keep it properly. Don’t even think of giving it to me.”

“But—”

“But what? Even if this item belonged to my sister, she’s your mother-in-law. If she was still alive, seeing that Moxuan is now married and has formed a family, this diamond necklace would naturally be her gift to you.” At this point, Song An paused for a second, looking like she had just recalled something. She then gently smiled. “My father is doing this on behalf of my sister, so… that means he acknowledges you as his granddaughter-in-law.” Otherwise, he would not have given such an important item as a gift to Han Muzi.

This blue diamond was bid with a high price at an auction at that time. After bidding it, Yuchi Jin found a skillful craftsman to make it into this necklace and gave it a name—‘The Heart of the Universe’. This was Yuchi Jin’s best wishes for his wife. She was the only one in the whole universe for him.

When Song An first heard about this majestic name, she even made fun of it, thinking that it did not match the necklace. Why would a beautiful necklace have such a scientific name? Until later… after their mother passed, Yuchi Jin had never gotten with any other woman; even if many of them voluntarily came up to him, he would never be tempted. In his heart, there was only one woman for him, till the end of time.

At this juncture, Song An let out a gentle sigh in her heart. Her mother had good taste in picking a husband, but unfortunately, Yuchi Jin did not learn how to be a good father.

Meanwhile, Han Muzi was stunned by Song An’s words; she was completely lost in her thoughts. Does Yuchi Jin giving this necklace to me mean that he has acknowledged me? When he heard that Moxuan and I were moving back, not only did he not get upset, but he even gave me this necklace as a gift. What an attainment.

Han Muzi smiled and kept the box. It seemed like Little Bean did not waste his time here. He really meant it when he said he would put in a good word for her.

“Alright. Now that we know what it is, please keep it properly. It’s getting late, so I’m going back to the hotel.” After Song An finished, she turned around right away and headed out while waving at the others. “There’s no need to send me. I’ll grab a taxi.”

Before she could go far, she was stopped by Yu Bo. “Miss An, Old Master hopes that… you can bring your suitcases back to the Yuchi residence.” After all these years, Song An had been alone and never got married. Since she was still part of the Yuchi family, it was normal for her to move back.

Suddenly, Song An stopped walking. She placed her bag on the floor next to her and blandly responded, “Why would I want to move back to the Yuchi residence? Mr. Yu, I respect you, and I always speak to you with reverence. But about this… If he really wants me to come back, he should be here telling me this, and not asking you to speak on his behalf.”

Yu Bo did not foresee that Song An would get upset. He brushed his nose and awkwardly replied, “Miss An, I—”

“Mr. Yu, I know you’re trying to help him. But I’m still a human being, and there are things that I have yet to be able to let go. Anyway, I got to go.” As Song An finished, she took her bag and left right away without looking back.

After she left, Yu Bo was seen standing there, helplessly sighing and shaking his head. He then walked over to Ye Moxuan. “Young Master Xuan, are you guys planning on staying the night?”

“Not really.” Ye Moxuan faintly shook his head. “We’re leaving now.” He reached out and held Han Muzi by her waist. “Let’s go and grab Little Bean. Then, we’ll go home.”

Little Bean? Yu Bo became dazed for a second and responded, “Oh, right. Little Young Master would like me to pass a message to you. He said he’d be staying the night with Old Master, and he’d be back tomorrow.”

Han Muzi blinked and thought to herself that this little brat must have liked it here a lot after spending so much time here recently. Yuchi Jin must be treating Little Bean well for that little brat to be willing to stay here. She did not say much and just nodded.

When everyone was leaving together, Little Bean was seen leaning against the window on the third floor, tiptoeing to watch his parents leave in their car. Yuchi Jin saw this scene and sighed. “Little fellow, come over here.”

Hearing Yuchi Jin’s voice, Little Bean swiftly ran to him. “Great-grandfather!”

“Little one, do you want to go back but you feel obligated to stay here because of me?”

The expectation that was found in Little Bean’s eyes when he was watching the car leave had disappeared. Instead, he had an innocent and naive look on him. “Great-grandfather, what are you talking about? I’m staying because I want to. You’ve been really nice to me. Mommy said you’ll feel lonely by yourself, so I’ll have to spend more time with you.”

These words made Yuchi Jin tear up. “You have your mommy, but… I don’t wanna force you. So, if you’d like to go back, or no longer want to stay here, I won’t force you.”

After all, Little Bean was his great-grandson, not his puppet.

Back in the day, he wanted to control Ye Moxuan and thought that he could make better decisions on Ye Moxuan’s behalf. But now, as he saw how a little kid like Little Bean could sympathize with him and sacrifice so much for his mother, an epiphany came upon him. Love was about selfless giving, and not selfish possession and control.

He controlled Song An back then because of his love for her. Since he had lost his wife, his daughter would have no one to teach her; as a father, he reckoned that he could give her the best. She might not like it now and would even resist it, but that was because she had not understood his intentions and thoughts as a father. However, he had neglected what his daughter genuinely felt in the deepest part of her heart. Even if he gave her the best—so what? For a human being, the best thing meant the thing that one desired to have the most.

Like a man stranded in the desert; would he need silver and gold if you gave it to him? No. What he needed was a water source. At that time, Yuchi Jin had no idea what his daughter wanted; instead, he gave her what he thought was the best. In the end, everything backfired, and both of his daughters left him, and they never wanted to return after all these years.

Now, looking at Little Bean, Yuchi Jin was full of regrets.

“Great-grandfather, you’re not forcing me. I’m doing this willingly.”

That’s a lie. This little fellow was extremely understanding.

“Silly little one, do you think I’m so old that I can’t see anything anymore? Why would any child in this world be willing to leave his parents?” Furthermore, Little Bean was raised by his mommy alone; there was no way he would leave her.

“How about this—when the time comes, you move back home with them, and I’ll stay here by myself.”
