In the study, Yuchi Jin sat at the desk, looking strict and deep in thought. Still, his sharp gaze was all over her face. Earlier on, when they were at the table, Han Muzi was already terrified by this look. Right now, as there was no one else around them, the look in his eyes had intensified.
“I suppose Moxuan has already told you what he told me at the table earlier.”
Han Muzi nodded. “Yes, Grandfather.”
“Hmph. It seems like he’s really into you!”
Han Muzi did not respond.
“He doesn’t even trust me, his own grandfather, and is afraid that I would do something to you!”
“It’s not like that, Grandfather.” Han Muzi gently explained, “It’s not that Moxuan doesn’t trust you; the person he doesn’t trust is me. He’s probably worried that I’d come across too strong and offend you, and when that happens, it’ll worsen our relationship. You’re his grandfather and the person who saved his life when he was drowning at sea. You’re his family, and he’s indebted to you. Both Moxuan and I respect you a lot, and we’d never think of you that way.”
These words touched Yuchi Jin’s heart. Looking at the sincerity in her eyes that knew no deceptions, the raging anger within him mellowed slightly. “Hmph. Good that you know.”
What Han Muzi said not only calmed Yuchi Jin down considerably, it also greatly changed his impression of her. The good word Little Bean had been putting in for her had made him feel that she did indeed go through a lot of suffering and he should no longer give her a hard time. But then again, these words came from a kid; he was not entirely convinced.
Having heard what Han Muzi told him just now, he could tell that she had a good attitude, and those words did strike a chord.
“So, Grandfather, about Moxuan and I moving back—”
“Since you two have decided already, why are you still asking me? You want to leave me, an old person, here abroad by myself, don’t you?”
Han Muzi shook her head. “No, Grandfather. My initial thought was this; if you’re willing—”
“Willing to what?”
“Move back… with us.”
“Not a chance.” Yuchi Jin instantly rejected. He continued, “If I were to move back with you two, who’s going to manage the company?”
Han Muzi did not know what to say in response. She had never thought that there would come a day where she would realize that having a large estate and business could be a burden. But that was only her thought; Yuchi Jin would never think of it that way.
“So—”
“How about this…” Yuchi Jin nervously rubbed his hands—this gesture did not match the image that he portrayed at all. “If you’d let Little Bean stay here to be with me…”
Han Muzi was startled; she did not expect his response to be exactly how Song An had described it. It seemed like he was not bothered that much by the fact that Ye Moxuan and her were moving back. As long as Little Bean stayed, Yuchi Jin would not care much about where the two of them were moving to.
“Grandfather, I’d most certainly want to help you realize your wish, but… as a mother, I’m not able to deprive a child of his freedom and thoughts. I’m afraid I can’t do this.”
Yuchi Jin squinted after hearing what she said. He looked somewhat displeased.
“But…”
As Yuchi Jin heard that she was about to steer the direction of the conversation and knowing that there might be room for negotiation, he followed up, “But what? Please finish your sentence.”
“If Little Bean is willing to stay on his own accord to be with his great-grandfather, I won’t stop him.”
“Good! Those are your own words!” Yuchi Jin quickly sealed the deal as if he was afraid she might regret it. “I’ll go and ask Little Bean about it. If he is willing to stay, you can’t change your mind by then!”
Seeing Yuchi Jin’s response made Han Muzi chuckle; he was acting like a child who was afraid that the candy in his hand would be snatched away.
“What are you laughing at?” Yuchi Jin became annoyed. “Is this funny?”
Han Muzi stopped her giggles and said softly, “Nothing. I think that you’re a nice person and Little Bean would love to stay and be with his great-grandfather.”
“Hmph.” Yuchi Jin unhappily threw a glance at her, but she could tell from his look that he no longer disliked her like before. Right now, Han Muzi was treating him with the utmost respect.
All of a sudden, he seemed to remember something. He opened the drawer and took out an exquisite box. “Come over.”
Even though Han Muzi was somewhat confused, she nonetheless started walking toward the desk. Then, Yuchi Jin was seen pushing the exquisite box toward her.
“This is?”
Yuchi Jin did not look at her. He just softly said, “Seeing how well you have raised Little Bean, this is my welcome gift.”
Welcome gift? Han Muzi blinked and recalled the first time the two of them met. She could not help but giggle. “Grandfather, if I keep this welcome gift, will you make me leave Moxuan?
Yuchi Jin remained silent. He was instantly stunned. He lifted his head and saw Han Muzi’s somewhat sneaky smile. This brought Yuchi Jin back to the first time they met each other. At that time, he asked Yu Bo to bring her money and ask her to leave. But now… she was using this incident to make fun of him!
At this point, Yuchi Jin was agitated. He put out his hand. “Then don’t take it.”
“Of course I want it!” Han Muzi quickly grabbed the box before he took it away, and she held it in her arms like it was a treasure. “This is the first-ever welcome gift from you, Grandfather. As your granddaughter-in-law, I’ll keep it no matter what. Thank you, Grandfather!”
There was such a stark contrast in her behavior, and that made Yuchi Jin immediately feel that she was quite a character. He did not know what else to say.
“Grandfather, thank you for today. I’ll go now.”
“Go! Go! Go!” Yuchi Jin waved his hand, looking annoyed.
Han Muzi then carried the box and left. After she left, Yuchi Jin appeared to look slightly sorrowful. Truth be told, previously, he was still hoping that Ye Moxuan would be with Duanmu Xue so that it would help the business when Ye Moxuan took over the Yuchi Group. But right now, he finally understood that some things could not be forced.
As nice as Duanmu Xue was, she was ultimately not destined to be with his grandson. Even though he was tough, he would never allow himself to break up this big family again. Fortunately, he had a great-grandson to comfort him.
Speaking about his great-grandson reminded him of the conversation earlier, so he proceeded to walk out of the study. He had to make full use of the remaining time he had before they left, so he could talk Little Bean into staying back with him. As long as this little guy is willing, the others can go anywhere they want.
When Han Muzi came out of the study, she saw Ye Moxuan guarding the door. She decided to make fun of him, “I didn’t know you’d actually guard the door just because I asked you to.”
Seeing that she was out, Ye Moxuan quickly went up to her and grabbed her by her arm. “So, what happened? Did he give you a hard time?”
“You b*stard, what kind of person do you think I am?”
