Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 944

Yan couldn’t be sure if Han Qing removed his coat for her. She wanted to stop him, but she was worried that he might deny it and claim that she was overthinking if she were to say anything. However, if I don’t stop him, wouldn’t he end up freezing if he were to take off his coat for me? I’d rather suffer and freeze than to have Han Qing suffer in the cold!

Just when she weighed her options, Han Qing took off his coat while approaching her with it. His eyes were fixed on her with a chilly stare.

Yan took a step back reflexively. “No!”

Han Qing stopped abruptly and he scowled at her. “Come over here and put the coat on!”

“No, I won’t!” Yan stared back at him stubbornly. She bit her lip while shaking her head firmly. “You should put it on. I am not cold!”

Han Qing looked upset and impatient at that point. In fact, his brows were knitted tightly. Why is this girl so stubborn? He squinted at her. “Do you think I’d believe you? You either come over here and put it on or I’ll go over there and do it myself!”

Yan was rendered speechless by his reaction. If I have a choice… I hope that Han Qing will come over to put the coat on me. It’s so romantic to have a man personally putting a coat on a woman. Ah, no! No! She shook her head violently to rid her mind of those enchanting thoughts and snapped back to her senses, only to be met with Han Qing’s cold and distant gaze. I just can’t walk to him. The weather is too cold and I honestly do not wish for Han Qing to suffer like I did.

While she was pondering, Han Qing approached her steadily. Yan’s eyes widened in shock and she was about to retreat, but he arrived in front of her in one long stride. He raised his arms to place the warm coat over Yan’s shoulders.

Yan stood to the ground in shock while staring blankly at Han Qing, who was in front of her. They were barely inches apart. She looked up and saw Han Qing’s jaw above her. He did not have the time to shave—most probably since he boarded the plane in a rush. Hence, his chin was covered with stubble. Usually, it takes me a lot of effort and diligence to be in such close proximity with him. However, this time, I did not take the initiative to approach Han Qing. On the contrary, he took the initiative to approach me instead.

Nevertheless, before Yan could savor their close proximity, Han Qing pulled away from her after merely fastening a coat button when he placed the coat over her shoulders. Then, he stated with a deep and stern voice, “Fasten the rest of the buttons yourself.”

Yan glanced blankly at him before looking down at the coat with one fastened button.

The coat had Han Qing’s residual warmth. At first, Yan’s body felt numb due to the freezing cold, but she felt especially warm and toasty in his coat now. The warmth she felt was different from the usual warmth in temperature because she felt it deep in her heart. The heat spread to her limbs and it was so intense that she felt revitalized by the warmth. She barely heard what he said about fastening the buttons and merely looked up at Han Qing.

However, Han Qing looked away when she gazed at him and he started to move forward again. Yan was stumped for a few seconds, but she caught up to him swiftly. “Well…”

His pace quickly resumed its original speed. Yan had to jog along to keep up with him and she trotted along after Han Qing while gasping for air. “Let’s go home.”

Han Qing maintained his pace. In fact, he did not answer her.

“The weather is too cold. Let’s go home now. We should stop walking.” Yan reached out to tug on his sweater since he was blatantly ignoring her.

Han Qing stopped and turned around to stare at her with a blank expression. Yan lowered her eyes under his stern gaze and she stated flatly, “Honestly, you should listen to me… I’m afraid that you—”

“Why did you refuse to head home just now when I told you to do so?”

Yan was stumped by his question. Well, I cherish the chance for the both of us to spend time alone. After all, I’m not sure when the next time would be if I were to miss this chance. It’s such a rare opportunity presented to me. I am a fool if I didn’t grab onto this chance. However, to win something, you have to lose something—it’s the chain of cause and effect. That’s why I don’t mind at all if I can’t spend time with him now.

Han Qing pursed his lips together since she refused to answer him. He broke the silence after a pause, “You should go home if you’re tired. I will shop alone.” With that, he continued marching forward.

Yan was left with no choice because he refused to heed to her advice, so she chased after him. Han Qing’s figure stood tall and sturdy like a large tree amidst the strong winter wind. He seemed unfazed by the cold, which gave people the feeling that he was reliable. He is the type of man who gives off a sense of security, even by walking beside him. Besides, he is a true gentleman. Han Qing is obviously not in love with me, but he took it upon himself to take his jacket off for me, even if it means that he’d suffer in the cold. Based on this alone, I am more in love with him than ever before.

A tall and a short figure walked in synchronicity along the streets. Yan wasn’t sure how long they had walked for, but she finally saw a supermarket in front of her. She ran over quickly while dragging Han Qing into the mall.

Yan let out a sigh of relief the moment they entered the supermarket because they were greeted with a blast of warm air. This is great! Han Qing can finally avoid the freezing cold!

Soon, the two of them found the men’s department in the shopping mall. Han Qing seemed familiar with the brand because he stated his size once he entered the department. Yan did not enter with him since he bought men’s clothes. Instead, she waited obediently at the entrance with his coat still on her. Yan must have walked for too long earlier because she was exhausted by that point. Her eyelids felt as heavy as lead and she couldn’t help but squat on the floor. Then, she rested her chin on her palms while forcing herself to stay awake.

After five minutes, Han Qing had an extra dark grey coat on. He walked out of the store with a bag in hand. His tall and sturdy figure came to an abrupt stop when he saw Yan squatting at the entrance.

Yan wore Han Qing’s coat, which was several sizes larger, and it fitted loosely around her. Now that she was crouched on the ground, she looked like a mushroom from afar. Han Qing looked away after gazing at her for several moments. He pressed his lips together and he maintained a blank expression while approaching her.

Yan turned around when she heard footsteps behind her. True enough, she saw Han Qing walking out, so she stood up swiftly to approach him. She looked like the help trying to take the bag from Han Qing. “Let me help you with that!” When it’s someone whom you love, you simply wouldn’t have the heart to let them tire themselves! Even if Han Qing is a man and I am a woman, the feeling remains the same!

Naturally, Han Qing did not hand her the bag. Yan felt slightly depressed when she heard him speak, “Let’s go. There’s a women’s clothing store in front. Go ahead and buy a coat.”

“Huh?” Yan looked up in shock. “I thought I’m wearing one?”

“You can return my coat after you’ve purchased yours.”

Yan hesitated before asking, “Why? Can’t I return your coat when we are back home? I packed clothes with me for this trip. I don’t need to buy more.”

Han Qing gazed at her steadily when he heard that. “Muzi will misunderstand.”

His statement felt like thunder in Yan’s mind. She felt as if she had heard some terrible news.
