Yan immediately walked away after placing the cup of water in front of Han Qing.
Han Qing frowned reflexively while looking at Yan. She immediately exclaimed, “I just recalled that I haven’t tidied my clothes and I will do that now.” After that, she turned around and left hurriedly to her room.
Both Han Qing and Han Muzi were speechless. After Yan entered her room, Han Muzi blurted out, “Qing, you shouldn’t be so fierce. Just look at how scared Yan is.”
Han Qing coldly glanced at her. “That good friend of yours is quite bold. She took Little Bean away without informing me.”
Han Muzi bit her lower lip and she decided to take the blame for Yan. “To be honest, it wasn’t her idea to fly over. I felt that there isn’t any improvement here, which is why I sent a message to Yan, asking her to bring Little Bean to me.”
However, Han Qing did not believe her and merely cocked a brow at her. “Are you trying to share the blame with her?”
“Qing, it’s not that. I really texted her to ask her to fly over.”
“Do you have any proof?” Han Qing asked.
Han Muzi was rendered speechless by his response as she hadn’t expected Han Qing to ask such a direct question. She was stunned for several moments before finally explaining, “Well, I sent her a message, but I’ve cleared the inbox in my phone.”
“Is that so?” Han Qing asked leisurely, as if he was not in a rush.
Han Muzi suddenly did not know what else to say because she had a feeling that she couldn’t hide the truth, no matter what she said. Han Qing knows me very well. Previously, I didn’t want Little Bean to tag along because I wanted to handle everything alone. I was hoping to bring Little Bean over after Ye Moxuan recovered his memories. However, Ye Moxuan has yet to recover his memories and I’m already claiming that I asked Yan to fly Little Bean over through a text message. My own words aren’t even convincing to my ears. She kept quiet because she knew that he wouldn’t believe her and she lowered her head, suddenly feeling depressed.
Han Qing was stumped when he saw that. He felt guilty upon recalling his overly stern tone earlier and Han Muzi now looked overwhelmed. “I’m sorry… I don’t mean to speak to you in such a harsh tone. However, just now—”
“I understand,” Han Muzi interrupted. “I know you are just worried about me. However, I am an adult now. I should be allowed to do what I want to and that includes Yan too. She knows what she’s doing. It clearly means that she’s not doing this alone since she has the courage to fly with Little Bean.” Han Muzi looked up and she met Han Qing’s gaze. “Why would you blame her since Little Bean did this willingly?”
Han Qing noticed that Han Muzi was adamant on defending Yan. He knew that there was no chance for him to lecture Yan. Initially, Han Qing wanted to reprimand her in the open. She is free to do whatever she wants, but what irks me the most is the fact that she took Little Bean away without informing me. What am I to do if something happens during their journey? Upon taking that into consideration, Han Qing’s tone significantly softened. “I understand if this is what you wish for.”
“I am not wishing for anything,” Han Muzi interrupted him. “I am merely stating the facts. If you want to reprimand Yan, I’m afraid you would have to lecture Little Bean as well. After all, I bet Little Bean is the bolder one between the two of them. Yan would never have brought him to see me if Little Bean had not requested her to do that.”
Well, that seems fair if she puts it that way. But… Han Qing frowned at Han Muzi. She does not seem worried about her own son at all. Isn’t she worried that I might reprimand Little Bean too? However, I shouldn’t worry about that. He paused for a long time before reassuring her, “Fine, I understand. Don’t be angry.”
Han Muzi kept her eyes lowered without answering him. The living room was completely silent. After a while, Han Muzi broke the silence, “Are you celebrating Chinese New Year with us now that you’re here?”
Han Qing grunted in agreement and he explained, “The whole company is on leave now. Su Jiu originally wanted to tag along, but I did not agree to it. Hence, she stayed at home to accompany her child.”
“Oh.” Han Muzi glanced around him when she realized something important. I think Han Qing was holding a small bag when he entered, but I didn’t see a suitcase. He couldn’t have only brought a phone and his ID, could he? Han Muzi looked up at him when she considered the possibility. “Qing, where is your suitcase?”
Han Qing’s calm and steady face flushed with embarrassment when he heard that question. He was annoyed with himself because he was in a rush and he did not pack a suitcase before flying over. It was only when the flight attendant inquired about his suitcase that he recalled he forgot to pack one. Fortunately, he brought along his paperwork and phone. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have found Han Muzi’s address.
“Were you in such a rush that you didn’t take anything with you?”
Han Qing looked up with a stern expression. “I have my paperwork and phone with me.”
Han Muzi was rendered speechless at his response. After she pondered for a while, she cleared her throat before speaking, “When Moxuan comes home, I will ask him to lend you some of his clothes, alright?”
Wear Ye Moxuan’s clothes? Han Qing was repulsed by the idea. How could I possibly wear another man’s clothes? I wouldn’t do it even if he is my brother-in-law. He immediately rejected her suggestion, “No. I will head out to buy some clothes later.”
Han Muzi never forced him and she replied to him after a pause, “You might not be familiar with the surroundings since you’ve just arrived. Why don’t I accompany you?”
“No need.” Han Qing looked toward the direction where Yan disappeared. “Let her come with me.”
Initially, Han Muzi was about to say something, but something struck her. Isn’t this a rare chance for Yan? There will be no one else if she accompanies Han Qing to shop for clothes. I’m sure the two of them would get to spend a long time alone.
Han Muzi nodded in agreement once the idea settled in. “Sure, I will inform Yan later.” After that, she stood up to walk to Yan’s room while Han Qing kept his head bowed and his eyelashes hid the darkness in his eyes. Muzi gave me a speech earlier and I understand that she just doesn’t want me to blame Yan. Nevertheless, certain things should be made clear. Since I can’t speak my mind in front of my younger sister, I shall take Yan out to speak to her.
Han Muzi relayed his message to Yan after entering her room. The color drained from Yan’s face when she heard that and she immediately rejected Han Muzi. “I do not want to go with him!”
Han Muzi was astonished when she heard that. “Why not? Why don’t you want to go out with my brother when it’s such a good opportunity?”
“Muzi, I don’t have the courage… I’m very scared of him now because he must be mad at me.”
“Don’t worry. I’ve spoken to him just now and he promised that he would not pursue it.”
“Are you sure?” Yan was suspicious. “Nevertheless, I’m still scared.”
“What are you afraid of? You get to spend time alone with him. Go ahead and shop for clothes with him. Are you sure you want to give up on such a good opportunity?”
Han Muzi decided to bite the bullet since she noticed that Yan was still in a dilemma. She turned around while heading toward the room door, and she commented, “In that case, I’ll tell him that you don’t want to go with him.”
