Song An and Little Bean had previously never met because the wedding was held abroad. At that time, Song An was conflicted and reluctant to attend the wedding due to its location in another country. Hence, she immediately decided not to attend after she learned that there would be another wedding in China as well. I will be attending the wedding in China anyway. It’s fine as long as I attend one of them since they are the same after all.
However, what Song An had not expected was Ye Moxuan to meet with an accident and she almost passed out when she learned about the horrible news. After all, her late sister had entrusted him under her care. Fortunately, they had discovered Ye Moxuan and Song An was relieved to know this. Later On, Han Qing’s secretary, Su Jiu, met with Song An to inform her about Han Muzi’s situation. At that point, Song An did not respond immediately and instead claimed that she needed time to think about it.
I did not expect that old man, Yuchi, to be so stubborn. In fact, it was even more unexpected that the old man somehow saved Ye Moxuan by chance. Is this all ill-fated? Even though Ye Moxuan has a special spot in my heart, I honestly do not want to meet Yuchi Jin anymore. I still remember what had happened in the past vividly and I have mixed feelings about this.
Just when Song An was undecided and in a dilemma, Han Qing frowned deeply as he was quite upset after Su Jiu conveyed Song An’s wishes to him. He felt that his younger sister already had a difficult time all alone abroad. Furthermore, Han Muzi refused to let Han Qing help her at all. I’m not allowed to intervene with matters happening abroad. In that case, I suppose I could at least control whatever is going on in China. Thus, Han Qing looked for Song An in person and took Little Bean along with him in order to appear more convincing.
Song An was astounded when she met Little Bean for the first time. During that meeting, the child continuously addressed her as ‘Grandaunt Song’ with his childish voice as he pleaded for her help. It was within seconds of chatting with him that her heart softened. Upon learning about this matter, Yan sent a message to Han Muzi to update her.
Nevertheless, Han Muzi was unfazed when she received that piece of news because she knew that Song An and Little Bean would eventually have met each other. Song An was very fond of Little Bean because the child had a way with his words and he was always polite. He soon had her wrapped around his finger, but she had not expected him to fly abroad.
“It’s Chinese New Year now. Why did you fly abroad at this time? Isn’t it better to remain in China? Why did you all have to exhaust yourselves by flying all the way here?”
Song An glanced at Xiao Su while saying that and she pinched Little Bean’s cheek playfully.
Little Bean seized the chance to cling onto Song An’s arm while nuzzling against her hand affectionately. He explained in a boyish tone, “Grandaunt Song, I miss Mommy, Daddy and you badly. I’m not tired at all.”
When Song An listened to the order of the family members he mentioned, she couldn’t help but tease him, “I suppose you predominantly miss your mommy?”
Little Bean’s large and clear eyes blinked several times. “I miss all of you, Grandaunt Song. It must have been hard on you since you specially made a trip here. I’ve missed you all along.”
Song An burst out laughing. “You always make me happy and you are rather eloquent. You are so much better than your daddy’s sharp tongue.” He is Ye Moxuan’s child, but how could they be so different from each other? Ye Moxuan, that brat, is always causing trouble with his sharp tongue; it’s almost as if that’s his second nature. As his aunt, I’ve always been on the receiving end of his mean words in the past. Sometimes, he would even completely ignore me. Ye Moxuan is unlike the child in front of me. Little Bean melts my heart by addressing me as ‘Grandaunt Song’ affectionately.
“Grandaunt Song, that’s because the disciple has excelled his master.”
The atmosphere felt much livelier and it was no longer as awkward as it was before. Naturally, the main reason was because the doctor had announced that Ye Moxuan was out of the woods. If Ye Moxuan’s condition worsened, the atmosphere wouldn’t have improved at all.
The group stood for a while longer before Han Muzi broke the silence, “Aunty, today is Chinese New Year’s Eve. We should be sitting at the table for our reunion dinner at this time. However… I simply can’t leave under these circumstances. Yan and the rest of them have just arrived today as well and they must be exhausted. Why don’t you take them home for now and I will handle it from here?”
Song An’s expression became stern when she heard that and rejected Han Muzi immediately, “That won’t do. You were just discharged from the hospital. What should we do if something bad happens to you while you’re staying here?”
“I…”
Xiao Su took the initiative to offer his services. “Young Lady Ye, I am the only man here. You all should go home first and I will stay back to look after Young Master Ye.”
“Hmph!” Little Bean snorted loudly. “Mr. Xiao, I am a man too!”
Xiao Su was stunned to silence, but he flashed Little Bean a smile swiftly. “I almost forgot that you are a true man too, Little Young Master. However… you are still a child.”
Little Bean countered unhappily, “Mr. Xiao, are you looking down on me because I am young?”
Xiao Su clearly lacked the courage to look down on him. However, before Xiao Su could explain himself, Song An pinched Little Bean. “Why would Mr. Xiao look down on you? He is just concerned about you.”
Little Bean pondered for a while before deciding for himself. “I will stay with Mr. Xiao to look after daddy. Grandaunt Song and the rest of you should head home first.”
Han Muzi was at a loss for words when she saw that. In all honesty, I truly do not want to leave. How can I possibly go home when Ye Moxuan is admitted to the hospital? What would happen if something goes wrong when he wakes up? What should I do if he regains his memories?
After pondering, Han Muzi insisted on her decision. “I will stay here alone. All of you should head home first. I will phone you to keep you updated if there are any changes.”
“No.” Similarly, Song An insisted on her stand as well. “I am well aware of your condition, so I know that you are not suited to stay here to look after Moxuan. You should go home and rest after such a long day. Muzi, I must remind you that you are a pregnant woman.”
“But…”
“Enough with the ‘buts’. Let’s just do as Xiao Su suggested. He will stay put while we head home for now.” Song An wouldn’t have insisted for Han Muzi to head home if she weren’t pregnant or there had been no early signs of miscarriage. In fact, she would have agreed for everyone to stay in the hospital because she knew that everyone would be worried with Ye Moxuan still in the hospital after all. However, extraordinary circumstances required extraordinary measures and this was the best that they could do.
Yan tugged on Han Muzi’s sleeve. “Muzi, let’s listen to Aunty Song’s advice. I think what she said made sense. It’s so cold out here and I think it’s best that you return home with us for now. Xiao Su is a man and it should be fine for him to stay here.”
However, Little Bean volunteered suddenly at that moment, “I am a real man too! I will stay here with Mr. Xiao!”
Initially, Han Muzi wanted to refuse, but Song An nodded in permission. “Alright. In that case, Xiao Su and Little Bean should stay here and the three of us should head home. We will have a meal and a shower. After some rest, I will not stop you if you insist on coming over.”
Han Muzi was left with no choice but to agree to the plan. Before they left, Han Muzi turned around to glance at Little Bean and approached him before squatting down in front of him.
Little Bean was excited when he saw Han Muzi crouching down in front of him. He stopped himself from yelling what he had on his mind, Mommy, you are finally paying attention to me!
