Yan had just finished her shower; as she walked by his room, she saw him bent over packing his luggage with his butt in the air. She couldn’t help rolling her eyes at the sight and approached him as she dried her hair. “Little Bean, why are you preparing your luggage so soon? There are still a few more days until New Year’s Day.”
Little Bean heard her, but he didn’t even bother to look back and simply continued to pack diligently.
“Hey, I’m talking to you!” She stomped her foot when the little guy ignored her.
He finally looked back with a snort. “So, you’re aware that it’s only a few more days until New Year’s Day, Aunt Yan. I’m packing my luggage in advance so that I can be sure I have everything prepared.” He finished, then seemed to feel that he did not say enough, so he added, “I don’t want to become like my Aunt Yan who likes to do things rashly at the last minute”
His words immediately raised her hackles; her voice became slightly mean. “What did you say?”
Little Bean put his hands on his hips and scornfully said, “When I was with Mommy before, she would always say that you were a reckless person. If you can’t even take care of yourself, how are you going to take care of others?”
Oh my God. Yan felt a little faint; she couldn’t believe that Little Bean was able to remember what Han Muzi had casually complained about so clearly. “That’s enough from you. You are always taking a jab at me. Are there any benefits to making fun of me? Continue doing it and I will ignore you, or even refuse to bring you abroad. You can go to the airport alone.”
Little Bean wasn’t afraid; if he had to go to the airport alone, then so be it. However, he was still too young; if he tried to board the plane by himself without a guardian, he would be unable to pass the boarding gates. Sigh. Thinking about how he still had to rely on her despite his genius, he felt extremely sad and depressed. However, he had to bear with it for the sake of meeting Mommy, Daddy, and Daddy’s stingy grandfather.
At that thought, he dropped everything in his hand, turned around, and ran over to Yan; he hugged her thigh. “I was wrong, Aunt Yan. In truth, you’re not reckless at all! You’re super cute and in the future, you’re going to be my aunt!”
At the sound of him calling her ‘aunt’, she immediately felt better. Her red lips curled upward slightly. “Just because you called me ‘aunt’, I’ll bring you there even if I die. But, if your mommy blames it on me when we get there, you have to help me out!”
“Sure!” He nodded and blinked, then spoke with an innocent expression, “I will use the words you taught me. I will tell Mommy that I threatened you with my life and forced you to bring me abroad.”
“That’s right. At that time, you have to exaggerate it too! You must elaborate on how you begged me, yet I still refused. Finally, you threatened to take your life and I had no other choice but to agree with you. Do you understand?”
“I understand, Aunt Yan.” Looking at the proud expression on her face, he couldn’t bear to burst her bubble. If Mommy heard those words, she would definitely figure out right away that Aunt Yan was the one who had told him what to say. Hehe, Aunt Yan is such a silly little thing!
“By the way, Uncle Qing still doesn’t know about this right? You definitely can’t let him know! If he knew we were planning to sneak out to visit your mommy, he would definitely stop us!” Although Yan wished that Han Qing could go with them—she could try to bond with him during their trip—he was a madman who spoiled his sister rotten. If she told him about it, not only would he not join them, he would even restrict their movements.
However, she didn’t expect that someone would come knocking on her door the day after she booked the flight tickets. She had just arrived at work to prepare her materials when she heard from her assistant that someone was looking for her and had already been directed to the lounge. Thinking it was a client, she went to the lounge. Unexpectedly, she saw a person she didn’t want to meet the moment she pushed open the door—Xiao Su!
She was surprised to see Xiao Su; she never expected him to come looking for her. After he had gotten injured in the previous incident, they had not met again. Looking at him now, his injuries had healed but it left a deep scar on his face. She was stunned for a few moments before she strode into the room.
When Xiao Su saw her, he stood up and flashed a small smile at her. “You’re here.”
Yan couldn’t help gasping at the sight of his face from the front. Compared to before, Xiao Su had lost a lot of weight—even his chin became sharper. Due to his weight loss, the contours of his face became more defined and his eyebrows were unyielding. At first, she thought he would be uglier with the scar on his face. But, the scar didn’t affect his appearance; in fact, it gave him a tough-guy look.
The last time she saw him, he had been injured. That scene came to mind unbidden even now—he had been covered in blood—just thinking about it felt painful. She pulled at her lip and smiled at him. “Are your injuries… all healed?”
Xiao Su paused in surprise—as if he never expected her to worry about his injuries—then came back to his senses and nodded. “Yes, it’s healed perfectly. Thank you for asking.”
Thereupon, they fell back into silence. She didn’t know why the atmosphere between them felt so awkward. Could it be due to the words he had said to her when they first came back? Those words had sparked a fight between them. Was that why the atmosphere between them was so awkward now?
After a while, Yan tried to break the tension again. “Erm… Why did you come here so suddenly? Do you need my help for something?”
Xiao Su nodded and asked her to take a seat. Then, he took out his identity card and placed it on the table. His actions puzzled her and she looked at him doubtfully. “What is the meaning of this?” Why is he giving me his identity card out of the blue?
He mulled over it for a long time, trying to word his thoughts. No matter how he worded them, every sentence seemed to come out wrongly. Finally, he decided to lay it out in a straightforward manner. “You’re going abroad to visit Miss Muzi and Young Master Ye, right?”
She was stunned to hear those words, and reflexively questioned him, “How did you know?” The moment her question came out, she realized her slip of the tongue and quickly added, “No, we are not. How did you hear about this?”
Her cute reaction had already given her away, yet she still seemed to think that she had managed to cover up her blunder perfectly. Xiao Su’s expression remained unchanged, but there was a faint smile in his eyes. “I have ways to find out everything I want to know. President Han doesn’t know about your trip to visit Miss Muzi and Young Master Ye this time, does he?”
She was so nervous she clenched her fists and looked at him warily.
“If President Han doesn’t know about it, then you probably haven’t informed Miss Muzi, who is also the Young Lady of the Ye Family, either.”
Yan furrowed her brows together. “What are you trying to get at? Did you come all the way here for this? Are you trying to stop me? Or are you planning to tattle on me?”
