“Alright, alright. We won’t take up any more of your time. Muzi, we’ll visit you again on another day.” In the end, George decided to say his goodbyes to Han Muzi.
The smile on Han Muzi’s face was awkward. After all, it was rude of Ye Moxuan to chase away their guests in this manner, but he didn’t seem to care at all. “My apologies, George and Rory. I will join you for a meal when I am discharged from the hospital. It’s just not convenient today.”
Rory hurriedly waved her hand when her name was mentioned. “It’s not a problem; we understand, Muzi. Right, George?”
George nodded in agreement, then they left the hospital room together. As they left, he threw a resentful glare at Ye Moxuan.
The moment they left, the hospital room returned to silence—the energy and vitality from before gradually disappeared. Han Muzi looked at Ye Moxuan and couldn’t help saying, “Can you be a little nicer to them next time?”
Ye Moxuan narrowed his eyes at her words, looking at her dangerously. “Are you asking me to be nice to other women?”
“That’s not what I meant. I just wanted to point out that George and Rory are our friends,” she explained.
He leaned close to her, supporting himself with one hand placed next to her. His voice was gruff. “So? You are the only person I treat nicely; is that a bad thing?”
She couldn’t say anything in response. Of course, it’s a good thing if he only treats her well. Be that as it may, his personality was so cold that other people could not approach him at all. She changed the way she worded it. “I’m not trying to chide you over how well you treat others. However, didn’t you see what happened just now? Rory was so afraid of you that she was hiding behind George! What do you think about that?”
He arched his brow. “Isn’t that great? I’d rather they avoid me; it’s better than having them cling to me.”
“You’re overthinking it. Rory is different from the rest; she won’t cling to you.”
“What about you?” He suddenly held her chin and narrowed his eyes slightly. This time, his gaze carried no sense of danger to it; instead, it revealed his desire for her. His voice was raspy with a hint of huskiness. “What kind of intentions did you have in the beginning when you approached me?”
His sudden closeness made her breath hitch. “You…”
“Did you have the same intentions as those clingy women around me?”
Han Muzi remained silent.
“Or are you saying you were different from them?”
Staring into his eyes, she took out her hand from under the blankets and grabbed the hand holding her chin. She reflected the question back at him. “What do you think?”
Ye Moxuan was stunned for a moment, then his thin lips slowly curved upward. He leisurely pressed his body down, his voice becoming softer. “You are different from them…” Immediately after that, his thin lips pressed down on hers, kissing her.
She felt her vision go dark for a moment, then she was already being kissed. She reflexively tried to evade, but the large hands holding her chin made their way to the back of her head, firmly holding her in place. Following that, he deepened the kiss.
This posture was uncomfortable—he was standing while she sat. She couldn’t move as he was holding the back of her head, so she was forced to lift her head and accept his kiss. In the next moment, the hospital room was flooded with intense desire. It wasn’t until her breathing ran ragged that he reluctantly backed off, his eyes staring at her passionately. The expression in his eyes was so hungry she felt as if he could devour her whole at any time. But, this was a hospital.
Han Muzi reached her hand out and placed it against his chest, then whispered, “N-Next time… you shouldn’t kiss me so casually here.”
“Why?” He gave a low laugh. “Are you worried I’d take you right here?”
His words set her face aflame in an instant. She gritted her teeth and glared at him. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
Ye Moxuan did not care that she accused him of speaking nonsense. His hand slowly slid down her waist and finally stopped at her abdomen. She was so nervous she didn’t dare to move an inch.
Why… It was such a coincidence for him to put his hand on her abdomen. Her belly wasn’t showing yet because she had clothes on; if he placed his hand on her abdomen, then…
As expected, his narrow eyes filled with laughter as he said, “You’ve gotten fatter.”
She kept silent.
He removed his hand immediately after that. However, there was a slight change in her expression. His calm and composed expression seemed to indicate that nothing was wrong, but her heart was clamoring in her chest because of his sentence just now. Her lips parted. “I—”
“Don’t try to deny it. Recently, you’ve only been in a continuous cycle of sleeping after eating, then eating again after sleeping. Are you trying to say you didn’t gain any weight?”
Fine, I might have gotten fatter too, but… Her bloated belly was probably due to her pregnancy showing. Luckily, he didn’t say anything about it.
In the following days, Han Muzi was cooped up in the hospital to recuperate. In reality, she had been allowed to be discharged from the hospital earlier but Ye Moxuan refused to agree to it, saying that she had to continue recovering in the hospital for a few more days.
Unable to persuade him otherwise, she finally managed to convince him to let her be discharged on New Year’s Day as she didn’t want to spend the day stuck in the hospital all alone. Her words probably sounded very pitiful toward the end, so he agreed to let her leave the hospital on New Year’s Eve. He would come to pick her up in the afternoon.
Song An visited her at the hospital every day. As they chatted, they would sometimes discuss Yuchi Family affairs. Song An was still unwilling to speak about, listen to, or care about the Yuchi Family and it would show on her face at the mere mention of the Yuchi Family. She only spoke briefly about it after being asked repeatedly.
“I know what you’re worried about. You’re probably worrying over Moxuan; you’re scared that the relationship between him and his grandfather would turn sour. However, that grandfather popped up in his life suddenly, Muzi. Even as his biological grandfather, he can’t meddle too much. Even if the relationship soured in the future, it’s still a blessing to your relationship.”
Han Muzi blinked. “But… what if he regrets it when his memories come back?”
“Are you going to try to make Yuchi Jin accept you?” Song An asked.
Han Muzi said nothing. Sighing, Song An tried to comfort her, “Actually, during the time you were kidnapped by Duanmu Xue, I’ve already informed the old man about your pregnancy. Despite Moxuan staying here in the hospital with you and putting the company affairs on hold these past few days, he hasn’t said a word. I’m guessing the old man is too embarrassed to intervene for now. Besides, what with everything Duanmu Xue has done, he has enough on his plate for a while.”
“Aunty, do you think if Moxuan’s grandfather knew about me… he would…”
“Currently he’s too busy to take notice. Of course, that only applies to this current period. Once he has finished dealing with the affairs relating to Duanmu Xue, he would come to me, as well as look for the two of you.”
Hearing this, she fell silent in agreement. What am I worried about? All these issues will come knocking on my door when the time is right anyway.
Han Muzi was not aware that right now, in their home country, Little Bean was starting to pack his luggage.
