Even though the implicit meaning was like that, Miss Lin wasn’t rude with her statement.
She merely gave a slight smile. “We just don’t want you to face any troubles, Miss Xue. We’re not forbidding you to enter the company.”
Duanmu Xue shook her hand, and all her gentle and obsequious expression from earlier disappeared without a trace. “I’m not afraid of any troubles! Why don’t you just simply give me a post? Didn’t Grandfather Yuchi already tell you what to do? Why are you still acting this way? Is it so difficult to give me a position here?”
Her words weren’t very favorable to the ears. Miss Lin frowned and replied in a displeased manner, “If you think that it’s so easy to give you a post here, please go back to your Duanmu Group and find a post there. Forget an ordinary post; you can even take up an executive-level post up to your liking. After all, it’s your own company. I guess no one would have any objections.”
There was a slight pause before Duanmu Xue growled, “Is this how you talk to me?” She then widened her eyes and looked at Miss Lin indignantly. “Do you think that just because you are more experienced, you can order me? I’m the Young Lady of the Duanmu family, and I’ve been personally appointed by Grandfather Yuchi to join this company! How dare you speak to me in this way!”
Miss Lin, who was not someone who would back down easily, raised her head and replied coldly, “You are right. Though you are the Young Lady from the Duanmu family, I’m not working for Duanmu Group; I’m the secretary of the President here, so I will only take orders from him. If you have the capabilities to do so, you can ask Old Master Yuchi to find someone with a higher position to order me.”
Duanmu Xue remained silent upon hearing that.
As a bystander, Han Muzi was shocked to see that as she didn’t expect that Miss Lin was so skilled at debating. She had even rendered Duanmu Xue speechless.
However, all in all, Duanmu Xuan wanted to join the company all because of Han Muzi.
Thinking that she was the root cause of the problem, she figured it was not appropriate for Miss Lin to handle this alone. With that in mind, Han Muzi walked past the office tables to them and uttered nonchalantly, “I think you should go back now. As the Young Lady of the Duanmu family, if you can’t come in through the backdoor, why don’t you try using proper methods? Perhaps you stand a chance that way.”
Han Muzi purposely said it this way because she didn’t have a good impression of Duanmu Xue. She already knew that Han Muzi already had a relationship with Ye Moxuan, yet she still wanted to get between them deliberately.
According to Duanmu Xue, it was a fair competition. But the ugly reality was that she wanted to snatch Ye Moxuan away.
Since that was the case, why did she declare her intentions to be so upright?
If Duanmu Xue had courageously announced that she was indeed trying to sabotage their relationship, Han Muzi might have thought that at least this person was honest enough to admit what she was doing, but Duanmu Xue didn’t even have the courage to do so.
Not only did she not have the courage to admit it, she even tried to imply some rude remarks toward Han Muzi with her words. Since this was the case, Han Muzi felt she didn’t have to be nice to her anymore.
Indeed, Duanmu Xue was already quite infuriated that she had nowhere to vent her anger. As Han Muzi walked to her, she looked at her with vengeance in her eyes and growled irritably, “Don’t you dare to be arrogant too soon. Shen belongs to me. Even though you are beside him now, you can’t be with him. As long as he belongs to the Yuchi family, he would have to marry me someday. When that happens, you will be nobody. If I were you, I would have some self-consciousness and get out of here soon.”
Han Muzi merely looked at her nonchalantly and smiled. “Well, I have the same thing to tell you too—if you have some self-consciousness, you should go back to your company and find a post for yourself. If you continue to make trouble here, you are just bringing disgrace to the Duanmu family.”
“Hmph! Just you wait!”
Duanmu Xue lifted her dress and left. But before she did, she glared at Han Muzi fiercely.
Her glare was cruel and sinister, as if she was an evil python. This made Han Muzi feel a sense of danger instinctively.
Han Muzi’s heart sank, but she calmed herself down quickly.
After Duanmu Xue had left, Miss Lin walked to Han Muzi. “I could’ve dealt with her just now. Why did you chip in for nothing?”
With that, Miss Lin sighed. Han Muzi looked at her and spoke, “Miss Lin, I—”
“You what? I am the secretary of the company, and I’m years older than her. No matter how angry she was at me, she wouldn’t dare to do anything to me. However, you’re different; she already treats you as her rival in love, and that is really the case. From the animosity that I felt just now…” Miss Lin shook her head and touched her chin with her hand as she pondered about it. “The glare before she left was too sinister. I think you’d better be careful in everything that you are about to do in the future. She might use her position to find people to take revenge on you.”
Take revenge on me?
Han Muzi’s eyes drooped, and she did not reply to her.
“You really shouldn’t have stood forward,” Miss Lin added as she couldn’t help herself.
Hearing that, Han Muzi raised her head and shook her head nonchalantly. “Miss Lin, if she truly has such thoughts to attack me, she would still think about it regardless if I stood up against her or not.”
She wouldn’t have stopped anything that she has already planned to do just because I kept to myself just now.
When Miss Lin heard that, she immediately frowned. “So, according to you, she really has such intentions?”
Han Muzi smiled bitterly. “How would I know about that? I can’t read her mind, but I’m positive that she hates me.”
Miss Lin patted Han Muzi’s shoulder. “No matter what, you should stay vigilant. Didn’t you get together with the President already? Why don’t you tell him about this so that he can keep an eye on you?”
Tell Ye Moxuan?
Han Muzi pursed her lips and rejected Miss Lin’s suggestion.
“It has already been quite hard on him to face his grandfather, so I don’t want to bother him with such matters anymore. I have my ideas of how to deal with this.”
Perhaps I can try to contact Duanmu Zhe.
From their last encounter, Han Muzi could tell that Duanmu Zhe didn’t want his sister to be with Ye Moxuan, and from his actions, she could tell that he was quite a level-headed person. He knew that his sister would never be happy if she married someone who didn’t love her. Hence, because of that, he would rather destroy her wishful thinking and not give her his blessings.
“Fine. You really know how to put yourself in the President’s shoes. Since you have already decided, I won’t interfere with it. Anyway… just be vigilant.”
“Noted. Thank you, Miss Lin.”
Han Muzi smiled at her before returning to her desk.
When she was flipping through the documents, she couldn’t help frowning.
Indeed, she wanted to talk to Duanmu Zhe about this, but how would she find him? She didn’t have his contact.
Thinking of this, Han Muzi felt that this was quite troublesome. Do I have to go over to Duanmu Group?
For someone like her to appear without an appointment, she probably would be chased out before she could even see him.
However, Han Muzi was quite surprised that Duanmu Zhe had already taken the initiative to find her right after she thought about him in the morning.
However, he was not alone—George tagged along too.
It was George who sent a message to ask her to go to a nearby cafe. When Han Muzi arrived, she realized that Duanmu Zhe was beside George.
Han Muzi still felt quite puzzled by the fact that both of them were together.
“So we meet again.”
Duanmu Zhe gave Han Muzi a deep and meaningful smile while holding a cup of coffee in his hands.
