Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 821

“What’s wrong with her?” Duanmu Zhe looked at the broken pieces all over the floor. He unhappily frowned and bellowed, “Xue, stop it!”

The noises from things being smashed ceased the moment Duanmu Zhe spoke. After a while, Duanmu Xue was seen walking out of the room with an ornament in her hand. She lifted it and aimed it at Duanmu Zhe.

“Miss Xue, please don’t…” The maids all knew how petulant Duanmu Xue was. After all, she was pampered by Duanmu Aotian as well as her older brother. The fact that she lost her parents at a young age had caused the two men in the Duanmu family to shower her with their love. Who knew she was so spoiled that she would even attack her brother?

“What are you doing?” Duanmu Zhe said this with a sober tone as he coldly looked at his younger sister.

Duanmu Xue lifted the ornament, looking upset. As she could not bring herself to hit Duanmu Zhe with the ornament, she could only lash out at the maids and threw it at them instead, yelling, “I asked you all to f*ck off! Why are you still here? F*ck you all!”

“Ahh!” They all scattered and ran for their lives.

Duanmu Zhe grabbed Duanmu Xue by her hand to stop her. “Are you done?”

“Let go of me!” Duanmu Xue struggled to escape. “I don’t need you to look after me. Since you never supported me and chose to be on my side, who are you to stop me now? Let go!” Like a mad person, she opened her mouth and bit Duanmu Zhe’s arm.

Duanmu Xue angrily bit his arm until it bled. The maids standing next to them were terrified and they hugged each other, afraid of uttering a word.

Duanmu Xue was indeed too scary. She was even scarier than the gang members on the street. At least they could still run away from the gang members when they saw them, but… she was their employer. Even if they ran away, they would still be summoned back.

Duanmu Xue had no idea how long she had been biting his arm; the only thing she knew was that she tasted blood in her mouth. But Duanmu Zhe still had not let go of her. It was at this point that she started to loosen her bite and looked at Duanmu Zhe angrily. “Why are you always against me? Why? Do you consider me your sister at all?”

Duanmu Zhe was annoyed by those words. He looked around at the maids around her and said softly, “You can all go now. If you’re injured, please go see a doctor. Come to me for reimbursement for any medical expenses after that.”

“Thank you, Young Master Zhe. We will excuse ourselves now.” They held onto each other and left.

After they were all gone, Duanmu Zhe turned around and looked at Duanmu Xue, who was completely out of control. He said with an annoyed voice, “It’s because you are my sister that I am stopping you from making mistakes.”

“Mistakes?” Duanmu Xue let out a cold laugh. Her eyes were all red and filled with blood streaks, as a result of her losing her temper. Even her hair was in a mess. The usually elegant princess look was non-existent today.

“What do you mean by mistakes? Does that mean I can’t even boldly pursue my happiness? You’ve never wanted to support me on this. All this while, you have been stopping me and now you say that I am making mistakes. You never treat me like your own sister.”

Duanmu Zhe frowned. “Pursue your happiness? Xue, are you sure you’ll be happy if you marry him? Does he even like you? Has he ever given you any hope? Does he even give you a second look?”

Duanmu Xue did not respond.

“The fact that I am stopping you doesn’t mean I’m trying to harm you. First of all, he doesn’t like you at all. This marriage would not have been called off if he just had the slightest of feelings for you. Secondly, he has a family. He’s not someone you should desire to be with. Do you understand?” Duanmu Zhe emphasized the last bit of his sentence with the hope that Duanmu Xue could realize that Ye Moxuan already had a wife.

But Duanmu Xue had completely lost herself and her sanity. She forcefully shook off his hands and let out a big scream. “No! He’s not married because that wedding never took place; he did not even show up to that wedding. Previously, I thought they were going to get married, so I banished that thought. But, Zhe, do you know that he didn’t show up at the wedding, yet he showed up in front of me? God has allowed him to escape death once and to wake up with memory loss. This is God’s arrangement and decision. He’s destined to be engaged to me; he’s destined to be with me!”

“Destined?” Duanmu Zhe shook his head and showed a bitter smile. “You silly girl. ‘Destiny’ doesn’t exist in this world, even if you believed it did. Let me tell you; even if there’s such a thing as destiny, Ye Moxuan is destined to fall for Han Muzi. He did not like you before his memory loss, and he will still not fall for you after his memory loss.”

Each one of Duanmu Zhe’s words pierced through Duanmu Xue’s heart.

“Tell me what is this, if it’s not destiny?”

These words provoked Duanmu Xue. She stared dully at Duanmu Zhe before she could even react to those words. It seemed like she was about to say something but she closed her mouth again, having no more energy to argue with him.

“Did I get it right?” Duanmu Zhe smiled and walked toward her. He tucked her unkempt hair behind her ears and gently wiped off the tears at the corner of her eyes as well as those on her cheeks. He let out a big sigh and continued, “My silly little sister. You are the treasure of the Duanmu family. You are pretty and outstanding. Do you know how many men in the world like you? Why do you need to lose yourself for a man who won’t even bat you an eye? Did you already forget what Dad and Mom told us before they passed?”

Duanmu Xue stood there blankly while Duanmu Zhe wiped off her tears.

“Dad and Mom said that whether you’re a girl or boy, you have to be cautious with your behavior. Don’t let anyone cause you to lose your true self. As the children of the Duanmu family, we need to take courage.”

These words touched Duanmu Xue. She felt that she had lost her dignity because of Ye Moxuan—especially last night when he said that he did not want to marry her. She immediately broke down in front of anyone and quickly stood up to chase after him but was stopped by Duanmu Aotian. She looked flustered and all over the place. She had lost her temper since she got back, until this moment. She had indeed… become a disgrace to herself.

Growing up, Duanmu Xue had always been treasured by people and had never been rejected by anyone. The thought of this made Duanmu Xue weep even more. She bit her lower lip and slowly walked into Duanmu Zhe’s arms before hugging him and utterly breaking down.

“Zhe… Sob. But I like him. He’s the only person I’ve ever liked in my whole life and I just want to be with him…”
