Ye Moxuan?! Why is he here? Staring at Ye Moxuan who was sitting there, Duanmu Zhe’s eyes were filled with question marks. At first, he coincidentally stumbled across Han Muzi. Now, he met Ye Moxuan. After freezing for a few seconds, he turned to look at the lady from the front desk and Miss Lin. “This is the office of Yuchi Group’s President? Did I enter the wrong room?”
The two of them were thrown off by his sudden question and they looked at him with doubt in their gaze. Smiling slightly, Miss Lin explained, “Mr. Duanmu, you sure know how to crack a joke. There’s only one president’s office in the Yuchi Group. How would you have entered the wrong room?”
“Then… you’re telling me this person is Yuchi Shen?”
Miss Lin nodded, giving him a strange look. “Is there a problem, Mr. Duanmu?”
He was so shocked that he could not return to his senses just yet. Not being able to figure out what was going on in front of him, he could only wave his hand to indicate that everything was fine. Then, he walked in.
After entering, Duanmu Zhe kept looking at Ye Moxuan while wondering if he had recognized the wrong person. However, no matter which angle he looked at the man, he looked just like the man from before. Duanmu Zhe would never recognize the wrong person, but… Why had Ye Moxuan become Yuchi Shen?
Furthermore, Han Muzi is here as his assistant secretary? If they’re still together, how could he be engaged to Xue? I only went on a trip and everything has changed? Could it be that something happened to their marriage, or Ye Moxuan regretted it? Tsk. This man changes his heart so quickly. With this thought in mind, Duanmu Zhe approached Ye Moxuan and waved. “Hi, it’s been a long time.”
Frowning, Ye Moxuan asked, “Who are you?”
Duanmu Zhe was speechless. “How could that be? I’ve never offended you before, so you can’t possibly be holding a grudge against me, right? You’re not even planning to recognize me now?”
Looking at the stranger in front of him, Ye Moxuan did not have any recollection. However, listening to the man’s tone when he was speaking earlier, they had to be acquainted. Ever since he lost his memory, everyone was a stranger to him. Hence, he asked once more, “We’ve met before?”
Duanmu Zhe did not know what to say. What sort of situation is this? Ye Moxuan does not recognize me? Duanmu Zhe initially thought he was joking, but after looking at his solemn and indifferent expression, he did not think so anymore. When he noticed that Ye Moxuan was indeed looking at him as a stranger, he concluded that the man did not recognize him. Suddenly, he did not know what to say. He only came to Yuchi Group to see who his future brother-in-law would be, but he did not expect things to turn out this way.
“Are you looking for me?”
Helpless, Duanmu Zhe could only introduce himself. However, the other party told him coldly, “Before you came in, my secretary already informed me of your identity. If there’s nothing else, I would like to carry on with my work.” After finishing that sentence, he reminded again, “It’s working hours.”
Hearing this, Duanmu Zhe was speechless. The man was still as cold as before, but he just did not recognize him. After leaving the office, Duanmu Zhe stepped outside and saw that the lady from the front desk and Miss Lin had both left. He then walked in the same direction as he came, but stopped when he passed by the secretary’s office. He had seen Han Muzi here just now, and the front desk lady said that she was an assistant secretary. Suddenly, he sort of understood why he had seen her here, but… why had she become an assistant secretary?
As he was thinking about this, the sound of footsteps could be heard. Raising his head, he saw Han Muzi returning with a folder in her hand. Immediately, he walked over and stopped her.
Seeing Duanmu Zhe, she froze for a while before furrowing her brows. Not him again?
“We meet again.” Curling his lips at her, Duanmu Zhe blinked. “Are you free to have a chat with me?”
However, he did not expect her to answer him directly, “No, I’m not.” Then, she promptly walked past him and left.
At the sight of this wayward woman, Duanmu Zhe felt helpless. Turning around and facing her back, he said, “I won’t take too much of your time. We can even talk right here.”
However, Han Muzi went directly into the secretary’s office as if she had not heard him. Seeing this, Duanmu Zhe was not angry but started thinking with his hand on his chin. These two people are equally temperamental. It seems that I need to go back and figure out what’s going on before doing anything else.
Back at the Duanmu Residence.
“Tell me, what happened here? Why has Ye Moxuan become the heir to the Yuchi Family and is somehow getting engaged to you?”
At this moment, Duanmu Xue was lying in front of the computer screen and hugging a pillow while watching a drama. After hearing her brother’s words, she jumped like an electrocuted monkey and asked, “Zhe, didn’t you promise me that you’ll stop interfering in my affairs? Why did you go back on your word? Seeing the hair on her body standing on its end, Duanmu Zhe stretched out his hands helplessly. “I wasn’t investigating you. I just wanted to see for myself the man who won over my sister’s heart. Not wanting to listen to his explanation, Duanmu Xue yelled angrily, “You’re just getting back at me and not respecting me as your sister at all!”
“Xue, I just wanted to see how great of a man he is. Besides, since you want to be engaged to him, wouldn’t I find out about his identity eventually?” At this point, Duanmu Zhe was no longer smiling as his face turned serious while he said in a stern tone, “If you didn’t want me to know about this, does that mean that you’re hiding something from me?”
Hearing this, her face immediately changed as she looked away. “You promised me.”
“Yes, I did promise you. But before I promised you, you didn’t tell me that it was him you were getting engaged to.”
Turning her head angrily, she retorted, “So what? So what if the person getting engaged to me is him? I like him and I want to be with him. I’m your sister. Isn’t my happiness important?”
“Do you think that being with him will make you happy?” Duanmu Zhe sneered, “Does he even like you? If I heard correctly last night, you’re the one who brought up the engagement to Grandpa. Also, what’s going on with him?”
“Enough!” Duanmu Xue interrupted her brother aggressively. “I’m not going to tell you. Since you don’t see me as your sister anymore, then you’re not allowed to care about my matters. Whomever I get engaged to is none of your business. If you intervene again, I’ll go to Grandpa directly!”
Hearing this, he sighed helplessly. “Why do you have to be so stubborn?” Could emotions turn someone irrational?
